I’d been to space many times, but I’d never seen Earth quite like this.
It was green.
Not in the way I’d seen it from space before, with the blues of the oceans melding into the tan of the continents, and the white of the clouds floating above, but a vibrant green.
As I took in the sight, a wave of nervous energy washed over me.
It was finally time to enter this dimension and explore what it held.
I took a deep breath in my capsule, making sure all my gear was on.
The rocket beneath me rumbled to life, carrying me through the blue sky toward the green Earth below.
As I grew closer, I could make out individual plants, each a different shade of green.
There were no trees, no grass, just a carpet of green that stretched as far as my eyes could see.
Some plants were so tall that they reached above me; others were tiny and delicate.
Who knew what else was down there, waiting for me to explore?
I’d spent so much time preparing and training for this mission that it felt surreal to finally be here.
With a final burst of power from the rockets, my capsule landed on the surface of the planet.
I quickly looked around but didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.
I checked the skies; it was still that strange green color.
If there was life here, I couldn’t see any evidence of it yet.
With a deep breath, I opened the door to my capsule and stepped out into the fresh air.
The Earth looked even more beautiful up close.
The sky was a bright green, as if everything had been bathed in an emerald glow.
The ground beneath me was dotted with all shades of green; dark leaves that melded into lighter ones that eventually became the same color as the sky.
It was unlike any planet I’d ever seen before.
Excitement bubbled up inside me as I secured my jetpack and took one last look around before taking off into the sky.
I was on a mission to find life on this Earth or prove that there wasn’t any.
In my gut, I knew there had to be something somewhere.
I flew for a long time without seeing anything.
The sun was starting to set when I finally caught sight of something that didn’t look like a plant.
It was a dome-shaped building, tall and majestic in a way that nothing natural could be.
I landed in front of the structure and waited for my jetpack to power down before taking it off and stepping inside.
The inside was just as spectacular as the outside—tall and grand with glass that stretched from the floor to the ceiling.
It was beautiful and completely deserted.
I walked around for a little bit, inspecting everything I could see, but I found no signs of life.
I eventually made my way back outside and stared at the sky, still a vibrant green color.
I needed to know more about it.
I pulled my helmet back over my head and secured it tightly before firing up my jetpack and shooting toward the sky.
No matter how high I flew, I couldn’t see an end.
