I'm a nurse in the Army and these 2 men named Connie and goes fight over me always wanting to get patched up by me LA la LA
Emily Carter
nurse, relationships with Connie and Goes, petite with sharp eyes, compassionate yet conflicted
Connor "Connie" O'Malley
soldier, vies for Emily's attention, rugged with a charming smile, competitive and protective
Gregory "Goes" Johnson
fellow soldier and friend of Connie, also attracted to Emily, tall with a stoic demeanor, loyal but reserved
I was in love with two men.
Two very different men.
One was a flirt, the other was stoic.
One had a smile that could light up the room, the other had a scowl that could make the sun go away.
One was my best friend, the other was my protector.
And both of them had no idea how I felt about them.
"Ow," I muttered as I dropped the bandage on the table and rubbed my sore shoulder.
I’d been working in this military hospital for three weeks now and my body wasn’t used to it yet.
I’d been on my feet for hours today and it was starting to take its toll on me.
I looked at the clock on the wall and sighed.
Only fifteen more minutes until my shift was over.
I could do this.
I picked up the bandage again and turned to the wounded soldier lying on the cot in front of me.
"Hang in there, buddy," I said, trying to muster a reassuring smile.
He groaned in response, his face pale and sweaty.
I worked quickly, my hands moving with practiced efficiency despite my exhaustion.
The tent flap rustled, and I glanced up to see Connie sauntering in, his trademark grin plastered on his face.
"Hey there, Nurse Carter," he drawled, leaning against the doorframe.
"Got any room for a handsome soldier in need of some TLC?"
I rolled my eyes but couldn't help the smile that tugged at my lips.
"Connie, you know the rules. Wait your turn."
He chuckled and sauntered over to an empty cot, plopping down with exaggerated care.
"Sure thing, Emily. But you know I'm your favorite patient."
Before I could respond, the tent flap opened again, and Goes stepped inside.
His eyes swept the room before landing on me.
He gave a curt nod and took a seat on a stool near the entrance, his posture rigid.
"Emily," he greeted quietly.
"Goes," I replied, feeling a flutter in my chest at his presence.
The tension in the room was palpable as I finished bandaging the soldier and moved on to Connie.
He winced dramatically as I cleaned a shallow cut on his arm.
"Oh, come on, Connie. It's just a scratch," I teased.
"Yeah, but it hurts more when you're not giving me your full attention," he shot back with a wink.
I laughed despite myself, shaking my head at his antics.
Goes shifted slightly in his seat, his jaw clenched tight.
As I applied the final bandage to Connie's arm, he caught my hand and held it for a moment longer than necessary.
"Thanks, Emily. You're a lifesaver."
I pulled my hand away gently and gave him a small smile.
"Just doing my job."
Connie hopped off the cot and stretched, giving Goes a pointed look before heading out of the tent.
Goes watched him go with narrowed eyes before turning his attention back to me.
I walked over to him, my heart pounding in my chest.
"Alright, Goes. What do you need?"
He hesitated for a moment before speaking.
"I just wanted to make sure you're okay. You look tired."
I felt a warmth spread through me at his concern.
"I'm fine. Just a long day."
He nodded but didn't move from his seat.
We sat in silence for a moment before he finally spoke again.
"You should take better care of yourself."
I opened my mouth to respond when the tent flap flew open once more.
A young soldier burst in, his face flushed with urgency.
"Emily! We need you outside! Now!"
My heart leapt into my throat as I grabbed my medical bag and rushed towards the exit.
