I was fascinated with aviation.
It was something I had never known much about, but I decided one day that I wanted to learn, so I started reading books and watching documentaries on the subject.
I thought it was really interesting and planned to continue learning about it for a while.
Then, two weeks later, I got bored and stopped.
This had happened to me before.
I would start a new project or hobby, planning on seeing it through to the end, only to put it down after a short while.
It was frustrating.
It made me feel like I couldn’t stick with anything, like I didn’t have any real passions in life.
Falling into this pattern, I always felt guilty for abandoning whatever project or hobby I had started with such enthusiasm.
I wondered if there was something wrong with me.
Why couldn’t I find something that held my interest for more than a few days?
Is this what it meant to be young?
Was I just supposed to be restless?
I didn’t feel like I was learning anything or growing as a person.
It felt like I was just going through the motions sometimes.
My girlfriend, Emily Carter, was always very supportive of my interests.
When I told her I wanted to learn about aviation, she asked me questions and seemed genuinely interested.
