Riven of a thousand, goddess of emotions, seeks story destroy the world in order to move to a new world. Seeing the world as nothing more than an insect. Though when finding a human woman one of her most dangerous emotions begins to rise to the surface. Love
Riven
goddess of emotions, antagonist to humanity, tall with shifting features and piercing eyes, manipulative and coldhearted.
Elara Thorne
human woman who encounters Riven, unknowing catalyst for change, medium height with curly brown hair and gentle eyes, compassionate and brave.
Thalos Greymoor
guardian of Elara and enemy of Riven, muscular build with silver hair and stern expression, loyal and protective.
It was time.
Time to end this world and move on to the next.
I had grown bored of this one, and humanity was nothing but insignificant pests in my grand design.
I had been planning this for centuries, and now it was finally time to put my plan into action.
I would start with the humans, and then I would destroy the rest of the world.
I could feel the power coursing through me as I stepped out of my realm and into the human world.
I had taken on a mortal form, but even in this form, I was still taller than most men, and my features shifted slightly as I moved.
My eyes were still the same void black, and they seemed to eat all light as I walked down the street.
The humans around me didn’t seem to notice anything out of the ordinary, but that was to be expected.
They were too wrapped up in their mundane lives to notice a goddess among them.
I walked through the crowded streets, my eyes scanning the oblivious humans.
A surge of power and disdain washed over me.
These creatures, so fragile and fleeting, had no idea what was coming.
As I moved through the throng, something caught my eye.
A woman with gentle eyes and an aura of warmth that seemed to radiate from her very being.
She stood out like a beacon amidst the sea of indifference.
Intrigued, I approached her, weaving through the crowd with ease.
"Excuse me," I said, my voice smooth and commanding.
The woman turned to face me, her eyes widening slightly as she took in my presence.
"Yes? Can I help you?" she asked, her voice soft and kind.
"I couldn't help but notice you," I replied, allowing a hint of charm to seep into my tone. "You have a certain... glow about you."
She smiled, a genuine warmth that made something inside me stir uncomfortably.
"Thank you," she said. "I'm Elara Thorne. And you are?"
"Riven," I answered, extending my hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
Elara took my hand, her touch sending an unexpected jolt through me.
Her kindness was disarming, and for a moment, I found myself at a loss for words.
"What brings you to our city, Riven?" she asked, releasing my hand.
"I'm just passing through," I said smoothly. "But I must say, meeting you has been a highlight."
Elara laughed softly, a sound that was both soothing and unsettling.
"You're too kind," she said. "Would you like to join me for a cup of tea? There's a lovely café just around the corner."
I hesitated for a moment before nodding.
"That sounds wonderful."
As we walked together, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was different about this woman.
She seemed so genuine, so unlike the other humans I had encountered.
We arrived at the café and took a seat by the window.
Elara ordered two cups of tea, and we settled into a comfortable silence as we waited.
"So, Riven," Elara began after a moment. "What do you do?"
I smiled enigmatically.
"Oh, this and that," I replied. "I've traveled quite a bit."
"That sounds fascinating," Elara said, her eyes sparkling with interest. "I'd love to hear more about your travels."
Before I could respond, the door to the café swung open with a jingle of bells.
A tall man with sharp features and piercing green eyes entered, his gaze immediately locking onto Elara.
"Elara," he said curtly as he approached our table. "Who is this?"
Elara looked up at him with a warm smile.
"Thalos, this is Riven," she introduced us. "Riven, this is Thalos Greymoor, my guardian."
Thalos' eyes narrowed as he scrutinized me.
"A pleasure," he said stiffly.
"The pleasure is mine," I replied smoothly.
Thalos took a seat beside Elara, his posture tense and protective.
"I hope I'm not intruding," he said pointedly.
"Not at all," Elara assured him. "Riven was just telling me about her travels."
Thalos' gaze remained fixed on me, his suspicion evident.
I met his stare evenly, refusing to be intimidated by this mortal.
But as the conversation continued around me, I felt my resolve waver ever so slightly.
This unexpected feeling of love—was it possible?
No matter; it would not deter me from my plan.
Yet as I sat there with Elara and Thalos, sipping tea in that quaint little café, doubt began to creep into my mind.
Could it be that these humans were more than just insignificant pests?
Could they actually matter?
My thoughts were interrupted by the sudden crash of breaking glass behind me.
Their leader, a burly man with a scar running down his cheek, locked eyes with me.
His gun was unwavering as he barked, "Step away from her."
Thalos immediately moved in front of Elara, his muscles tensed and ready for action.
"Who are you?" he demanded, his voice steady but filled with tension.
I felt my power simmering beneath the surface, ready to be unleashed.
My eyes narrowed as I raised a hand, prepared to obliterate these intruders.
But before I could act, Elara grabbed my arm.
"Riven, please," she pleaded, her voice trembling. "Don't do this."
Conflicted emotions surged within me.
I hesitated, torn between my desire to protect Elara and my instinct to destroy.
The leader took advantage of my pause and fired a warning shot into the ceiling.
The deafening sound echoed through the café, causing everyone to flinch.
"Nobody move!" he shouted, his eyes never leaving mine.
The tension was palpable as we all stood frozen in place.
I could feel the eyes of every patron on me, waiting for my next move.
Thalos' jaw clenched as he glanced back at me.
"Riven," he said quietly. "We need to handle this carefully."
Elara's grip on my arm tightened, her eyes filled with fear and desperation.
"Please," she whispered. "Don't make things worse."
I took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm inside me.
The leader's gaze flickered with uncertainty as he watched me closely.
"What's your plan here?" Thalos asked the leader, his voice steady despite the chaos around us.
The leader sneered. "We're here for her," he said, nodding towards Elara. "Hand her over, and no one gets hurt."
Thalos' eyes blazed with defiance. "That's not going to happen."
The leader's expression darkened. "Then we'll take her by force."
I felt a surge of anger at his words.
No one would take Elara from me.
Not now, not ever.
Before I could act on that thought, Thalos stepped forward.
"You'll have to go through me first," he said firmly.
The leader laughed harshly. "So be it."
In an instant, chaos erupted.
Thalos lunged at the nearest armed man, disarming him with a swift motion.
I felt Elara's grip loosen as she tried to pull away from the fray.
"Stay behind me," I commanded her, my voice cold and determined.
Elara nodded, her eyes wide with fear but trusting me nonetheless.
I turned my attention back to the leader and his men.
They were skilled fighters, but they were no match for my power.
With a flick of my wrist, I sent a wave of energy towards them, knocking several off their feet.
The leader staggered but remained standing, his eyes widening in shock.
"What are you?" he demanded, his voice shaking.
I stepped forward, my eyes blazing with fury. "I'm your worst nightmare."
Before he could react, I unleashed another wave of energy, sending him crashing into a nearby table.
Thalos continued to fight off the remaining men with impressive skill and determination.
Despite his mortal limitations, he held his ground fiercely.
Elara clung to me, her presence grounding me amidst the chaos.
As the last of the armed men fell to the ground unconscious or incapacitated, I turned to Thalos.
"Are you alright?" I asked him.
He nodded breathlessly. "Thanks to you."
Elara's eyes filled with relief as she looked between us. "Thank you both."
