Two female scientists are sent to the distant future over 500 years in failed time dilation experiment. In our time line their team must try to rescue them. 500 years in the future one scientist is almost immediately transformed into an apex predator, the other lands outside a primitive village of deevolved humans existing at prehistoric levels and she begins to deevolve as well. Will the team find them and bring them back to normal or will they be stuck forever.
Dr. Sarah Jennings
lead scientist in the rescue team, friends with other protagonists, tall with sharp features, determined and analytical
Dr. Emily Chang
tech specialist in the rescue team, works closely with Sarah, petite with glasses, intelligent and resourceful
Dr. Mia Torres
scientist in the future, former colleague of Sarah, athletic build with wild eyes, aggressive yet protective
"Sarah, we have a problem."
I glance up from my work and see Emily’s worried expression.
She’s standing in the doorway of the lab, her petite frame looking even smaller than usual.
"What’s going on?"
I ask, setting down the tablet I was reading.
"It’s the time dilation experiment," she says.
"There was an error in the calculations. We sent them too far into the future."
My stomach drops.
The two scientists who were sent on the mission are friends of mine—Dr. Mia Torres and Dr. Alex Park.
They’re both brilliant researchers, but they’re also good people, and I can’t imagine what it would be like to be stranded five hundred years in the future.
"Shit," I say.
"What are we going to do?"
"We’re putting together a rescue team," Emily says.
"We need you to lead it."
I nod, my mind already racing with plans and contingencies.
"Of course. When do we leave?"
"As soon as possible," she says.
"We’re still working out the details, but we’ll keep you posted."
"Great," I say.
"I’ll start getting everything ready on my end."
Emily nods and leaves me alone in the lab.
I sit there for a moment, staring at the wall without really seeing it.
Five hundred years in the future.
What will it be like?
Will they even recognize Mia and Alex when they find them?
I shake my head, pushing the thoughts aside.
There’s no time for speculation.
I grab my comm device and call Emily back.
“Emily, we need to assemble the team now. Who do we have?”
“Meet me in the briefing room in five minutes,” she replies.
I rush out of the lab, my footsteps echoing down the sterile hallways of the research facility.
As I enter the briefing room, I see Emily already there, along with Dr. Raj Patel and Lieutenant Mark Harris.
Raj is our top engineer, and Mark is a seasoned field operative.
Both look tense but ready for action.
“Alright, everyone,” I begin, “we’re heading five hundred years into the future to rescue Mia and Alex. We don’t know what we’ll find there, so we need to be prepared for anything.”
Raj nods, adjusting his glasses.
“I’ve been working on some equipment that might help us navigate an unknown environment. Portable scanners, enhanced communication devices, and a few defensive tools.”
Mark crosses his arms, his military training evident in his posture.
“What about potential threats? We have no idea what kind of creatures or people might be out there.”
Emily steps forward.
“That’s why we’re bringing a full array of survival gear and weapons. We can’t take any chances.”
I glance at each of them, feeling a mix of fear and determination welling up inside me.
“We need to move quickly. Emily, Raj, gather the equipment. Mark, make sure we have enough supplies for at least a week. I’ll handle the portal calibration.”
Everyone nods and disperses to their tasks.
I head to the control room where the portal generator hums with latent energy.
My fingers fly over the keyboard as I input the coordinates and adjust for temporal drift.
The screen flashes with data streams, confirming our destination: Earth, 2523 AD.
Emily arrives with a cart full of gear—backpacks stuffed with rations, medical kits, and advanced tech gadgets.
Raj follows close behind, carrying a sleek case filled with his latest inventions.
Mark enters last, lugging a duffel bag brimming with weapons and survival tools.
“Is everything set?” I ask, looking at each of them.
They all nod in unison.
“Good. Let’s suit up.”
We don our gear quickly but efficiently—every second counts.
As I strap on my backpack and secure my utility belt, my mind drifts to Mia again.
What if she’s changed? What if she’s become something... dangerous?
I shake off the thought and focus on the task at hand.
We gather in front of the portal generator, its swirling vortex casting an eerie glow across our faces.
“Remember,” I say, my voice steady despite my racing heart, “we stick together no matter what. Our primary objective is to find Mia and Alex and bring them home safely.”
Everyone nods solemnly.
I take a deep breath and step forward into the portal first.
The sensation is disorienting—a rush of colors and sounds blending into a chaotic whirlpool before everything snaps into focus again.
We emerge into a world both familiar and alien—skyscrapers crumbling under nature’s reclaiming grasp, strange flora glowing with bioluminescence in the twilight haze.
My heart pounds as I scan our surroundings.
No sign of life yet—but that could change any moment.
“Stay alert,” I whisper to the team as they step through behind me.
