I never thought I’d be in this position.
I’m not the type of guy who chases after a girl.
But then again, Lisa isn’t just any girl.
She’s the love of my life, and I let her slip through my fingers.
It’s been two weeks since we broke up, and I haven’t been able to think about anything else.
I’ve tried to move on, but no other woman can compare to Lisa.
I’ve known her since we were kids, and she’s always been the one for me.
But I was stupid and let my jealousy get the best of me, and now she’s gone.
I can’t let it end like this.
I need to win her back, no matter what it takes.

I stand outside Lisa's apartment, my heart pounding like a drum in my chest.
The words I’ve rehearsed a thousand times feel like they’re slipping away.
I glance back at Mark, who’s waiting in the car.
He gives me a thumbs-up, his grin full of encouragement.
I take a deep breath and knock on the door.
Seconds stretch into an eternity before it finally opens.
Lisa stands there, surprise and hesitation flickering in her eyes.
“Terry?” she says, her voice tinged with confusion.
“Lisa, I—” I stammer, my rehearsed speech evaporating.
“I’m so sorry. I messed up. I let my jealousy get the best of me.”
She crosses her arms, her expression unreadable.
“Terry, what are you doing here?”
“I couldn’t stop thinking about you,” I say, my voice trembling.
“I know I was an idiot. I know I hurt you. But please, just hear me out.”
Lisa’s eyes soften for a moment before hardening again.
“You hurt me, Terry. You didn’t trust me.”
“I know,” I admit, feeling the weight of my mistakes crushing down on me.

“I was wrong. I was so wrong. But I promise I can change. Just give me another chance.”
She sighs deeply, looking away as if searching for the right words.
“Can things ever be the same?” she asks, her voice barely above a whisper.
I step closer, desperate to bridge the gap between us.
“They can be better,” I plead. “I’ll do whatever it takes to prove it to you.”
Silence hangs heavy between us, each second feeling like an eternity.
Finally, Lisa meets my gaze, her eyes filled with unresolved emotions.
“Terry…” she begins, but then stops herself.
The door closes softly behind her.
I stand there, staring at the closed door, my heart sinking.
What now?
I turn back towards Mark’s car, feeling defeated.
Just as I reach the sidewalk, the door creaks open again.
“Terry!” Lisa calls out.
I spin around to see her standing there, tears glistening in her eyes.
“Come inside,” she says softly.
My heart leaps as I follow her into the apartment.
We sit on the couch, the tension between us palpable.
“Why now?” she asks. “Why did it take you so long to realize?”

“I was scared,” I confess. “Scared of losing you. But losing you because of my own stupidity is worse.”
She nods slowly, taking in my words.
“I need time,” she says finally. “Time to see if you really mean what you say.”
“I understand,” I reply quickly. “Take all the time you need.”
We sit in silence for a moment longer before she stands up.
“I have to go to work,” she says quietly. “But we can talk more later.”
I nod and stand up too.
“Thank you,” I say earnestly.
As she walks me to the door, something catches my eye outside the window.
A shadow moving quickly across the street.
“What’s that?” I ask, pointing.
Lisa turns to look just as a loud crash echoes from outside.
We both rush to the window and see Mark’s car smashed against a lamppost.
“Mark!” I shout, racing out of the apartment with Lisa close behind me.
We reach the car and find Mark slumped over the steering wheel, unconscious but breathing.
“Call 911!” Lisa yells as she tries to open the door.
My hands shake as I fumble for my phone and dial emergency services.
The operator picks up just as Mark starts to stir.
