Chapter 1
I am vengeance.
I am the night.
I am DayRoar.
My family was murdered, and I was left for dead.
The police never found the killer.
They never even looked.
So I took the law into my own hands.
In order to find the man who did this, I had to become someone else.
I had to become something else.
I am the only one who can avenge my family, and I will stop at nothing to get justice.
DayRoar
The compound is heavily guarded, but that’s not going to stop me from getting inside.
I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time, and I’m not going to let anything get in my way.
I take out the guards one by one, making sure they don’t have time to sound the alarm.
Their bodies hit the ground with a soft thud, and I move forward, my eyes locked on the main building.
The shadows are my allies tonight.
I slip through them like a ghost, unseen and unheard.
The compound is a maze of corridors and rooms, but I know exactly where I’m going.
I’ve studied the layout for weeks, memorizing every detail.
I reach the main building and press my back against the wall, listening intently.
Muffled voices drift through the door ahead of me.
Victor Stryker is in there, surrounded by his men.
I can feel my pulse quicken, my grip tightening on my weapons.
This is it.
I take a deep breath and kick open the door with all my strength.
The door slams against the wall, and I step into the room, guns drawn.
Stryker looks up, a smirk spreading across his face as he sees me.
"DayRoar," he says, his voice dripping with mockery. "I was wondering when you'd show up."
His men raise their weapons, but I’m faster.
Two shots ring out, and two of Stryker’s goons drop to the floor.
"You're too late," Stryker taunts. "Your family is gone. Nothing you do will bring them back."
Rage boils inside me, but I keep my focus.
I fire again, taking down another guard.
Stryker steps forward, his eyes cold and calculating. "You think you can stop me? You're just one man."
"I don't need to stop you," I growl. "I just need to kill you."
Before I can pull the trigger, a gunshot echoes from behind me.
A sharp pain explodes in my side, and I collapse to one knee.
Blood seeps through my shirt, warm and sticky.
I turn my head and see Elena Vasquez standing in the doorway, her gun smoking.
Her eyes are wide with shock and regret. "DayRoar! It wasn't supposed to be like this!"
Stryker laughs, a cruel sound that sends chills down my spine. "Looks like your little ally has betrayed you."
Elena's face twists in anguish. "No! I was trying to—"
