As he undresses he tries to figure out if there is a problem between the two. She doesn’t answer. He apologizes for coming home so late. She makes a grunting noise as if she doesn’t care. As he takes off his tie and unbuttons the white shirt he suspects that the problem might be bigger than him coming home late. He asks if he did anything wrong and she replies softly, “what do you do right?” He is totally confused. He sits close to her and she immediately sits up and turns on a lamp next to the bed. She starts to tell him the problems in their relationship. He shuts down and stays quiet. She gets more upset. He apologizes for everything and tells her the case he has been working on has come to a close and that he will be the way he was with her like in the beginning of their relationship. She doesn’t think he understands and just agrees and goes to bed. Carter Willis attends a ceremony where he receives a medal of distinction. He and his colleagues sit in chairs on the stage. Carter Willis expresses to his best friend Alex J. Williams his feeling about Sarah. The ceremony begins and goes on for about an hour. Carter and Alex are called up for their award. Unexpectedly Carter and Alex rank up to Detective. After Carter receives his award he notices Sara in the back of the crowd. The ceremony finishes and Carter quickly makes his way toward Sara. He tries to patch things up. Sara breaks the news she will be staying with her sisters for a while, she congratulates him on his medal and gives him back the keys to their apartment. The next day, Carter Willis enters the Police station, and just before he gets to his desk he is called into Captain’s Sanchez office to be put on assignment. Carter is told he has to go undercover as a street gang deep in Miami. Before he can get close to the main Drug lord of the streets he must get recognition with the gangs. The police give Carter Willis marked cars for him to steal and to attend illegal drag races. Act Two Carter Willis is in attire that he used to wear as a teenager. He is wearing blue baggy jeans, a loose white t-shirt, and white Adidas shell-toe shoes. He pulls into a local gang drag race in a bar of silver with blue stripes down the hood and roof Ford Mustang GT Cobra. Everyone at the race just stares at him. He finds the bookkeeper and places a stack of hundreds down to race. The bookkeeper looks up and to his surprise sees a new face. He denies Carter’s buy-in and looks away. Carter gets confused. He pushes his cash closer to the bookkeeper. The bookkeeper gets annoyed and asks what he thinks he doing there. Carter replies he wants a piece of the action and that he just stole the car he came in and wants to test it out. The bookkeeper laughs and replies if you lose you know we get your car and there’s a good possibility that you might be limping out of here. Carter replies I’ll take my chances. The bookkeeper says ok and takes his money and puts his name in the race. Carter starts his engine while everyone stares at him and pulls up to the race line. He revs his engine and as they count down he takes off. Before he realizes it he won the race. Everyone in the gang becomes his new best friend. He makes up the story after story perfecting his new personality. He gets close to some of the guys and becomes an official drag racer for one of the drug lords. The drug lord that he begins to work for is Lord Imaude Vegous. Imaude Vegous is a notorious drug dealer who’s been in the game for at least a decade. After a lot of winnings, he is asked to meet with Vegous about a career advance. Carter meets with Vegous who’s in a deep cave with lots of girls and people partying. Vegous is far into the cave in a small room with candles lit everywhere and accompanied by two other gentlemen. Carter enters his space and gets a little weary of the situation. He is asked by Vegous to start stealing cars that are sought out for him. He is asked to bring those cars specifically to him. Vegous sits in a dark corner on the floor. He wears a hood and his face is completely covered by shadows. Carter is also asked to bring all the cars that he beats in the races to him as well. Carter sneaks by the Police office and lets his boss know what Vegous just assigned him. Captain Sanchez tells Carter to keep up the excellent work and just find more information about what these gangs are laundering. Carter drives back the winning cars and parks them in a specific area for Lord Vegous. As Carter parks the last one he notices the gang still partying and starts to check out the cars trying to find some sort of trace of drugs. Carter gets to the last car and pops open the trunk and moves down the lining of the area and finds bags of black liquid, he ducks and opens one bag and sniffs. He suddenly has a confused look as the smell of blood rushes past him. All of a sudden he hears footsteps, he quickly puts back the bag of blood and lowers the trunk, and softly runs into the corner. One of the gang members walks past the car, stands in front of it, unzips his zipper, and starts to urinate. As the guys finish and stagers back to the party the trunk of the car Carter was just at starts to rise slowly. The guy turns around and the trunk suddenly stops. The guy shakes his head and heads back to the party. Carter Willis runs softly and closes the trunk of the car. He takes a deep breath and rests his hands on the hood of the trunk. Imaude Vegous approaches him from behind. Carters gets startled and jumps. Imaude Vegous laughs and asks if he has seen anything interesting. Carter denies it and asks if that’s all he is needed for today. Imaude Vegous says, yes and Carter is on his way out. As Carter exits the cave he walks past a room where people are feeding on each other. He almost goes into shock. He stands there for a moment and notices how every one of their faces has changed and is enhanced to a demon-like shape. Carter Willis covers his mouth in the fear of panic and watches how the gang tears up the girls they are with and starts eating their bones. Carter tries not to make a sound as he exits the cave. The next day Carter goes to work and just sits at his desk contemplating whether or not to tell his boss. His friend Alex approaches him and starts talking about his case of how fast he is to close it. Carter has not moved and is at a stare with his desktop. After Alex stops rambling on he notices Carter's facial expression hasn’t changed. He asks Carter if he is okay and Carter starts to vomit in a nearby trash can. Captain Sanchez calls Carter into his office. He asks about the case and Carter just sits there wondering how to tell him what he last saw at the cave. Captain Sanchez gets angry at Carter's nonverbal communication. Carter gets very quiet and tells Captain Sanchez that the gang is not smuggling drugs but are vampires. Captain Sanchez laughs at first then gets really mad and sends Carter home for a while. Carter fakes a cold to the gang and just stays home. For about two weeks Carter cannot do anything but think about how he is going to resolve the case. He starts to drink heavily and he is in his pajamas all day. Carter is at a bar when Alex notices him and strikes up a conversation. Alex is dressed immaculately. Carter can barely sit up. Carter tells Alex about the vampire gang. Alex replies I hope that's not what you told the Captain. Carter takes another drink down. Carter expresses the emotion of not knowing what to do. Alex tries to help by saying to get his act together and help solve his first case as a detective. Carter walks into the station late a night and rummages through the bust vault and bags up all the explosions, guns, and bullets he could find. He notices a bow and arrow set and cans of arsenal. Carter sneaks out all of the weapons and heads home. Carter lays out all the weapons on his bed. He sits on his sofa and starts to drink his cognac. He smokes cigar after cigar. He walks around his apartment, stands next to his window, and looks outside how everyone is at peace except him. He starts to think of Sara. He sets up a tape recorder and says his final thoughts to Sara in case he never comes back. He plays it back. Carter begins to get dressed and pack up his weapon case. Carter heads over to the cave alone to take down the vampires. Carter sneaks inside and notices they are partying hard and loud. He starts in the front of the cave and begins to kill off each vampire one by one. As his killings get louder more vampires to start rushing toward Carter. Carter begins to use his bomb explosions to kill off the packs. He starts to yell for Imaude Vegous. Carter gets to the last room in the cave and Imaude Vegous is nowhere to be found. When all of a sudden he gets rushed at and attacked very fast by something flying through the air. There are only two candles lit and it is still very dark. He gets hit numerous times and starts to bleed tremendously. Carter grabs his bag of weapons and hides in the corner. As he tries to reload he realizes he’s out of bullets and all that he has left is his bow and arrow with arsenal cans. He quickly wraps the arrow tips with gauze, opens the arsenal cans, and covers the gauze. Carter grabs the bow and tightly holds it together. What Imaude Vegous doesn’t realize is that Carter can see his white eyeballs in the distance. Carter begins to speak as if he is scared. Imaude Vegous growls and Carter Willis lets go of the arrow, it flies across the room and passes the candle flame which catches the gauze of fire and sets right into Imaude Vegous chest. Carter reaches the outside as the sun rises in the distance. Carter pulls out a cigar from his jacket pocket, lights it, and inhales. Carter Willis enters his Captain’s office with a clean attire and appearance and drops his report off his desk. As Carter exits the Captain assigns him another case. Captain Sanchez says, “Carter must travel to Europe to investigate a new drug that is killing people and three days later they are rising from the dead and attacking the rest of the population.” Before Carter fully exits he looks slightly at Captain Sanchez, smiles, and replies, “When does my flight leave?”

"Congratulations, Carter."
I glanced up from my beer to see Alex J. Williams standing in front of me, a big grin on his face.
He was a tall man, with dark hair and an even darker gaze, and he was one of the best detectives I’d ever worked with.
He was also one of my closest friends.
"Thanks," I said, raising my bottle in a toast.
"I appreciate it."
I took a long drink, savoring the taste of the cold liquid as it slid down my throat.
It had been a long day, and I was exhausted, but I was also incredibly happy.
I’d just been promoted to detective first class, which meant that I’d be getting a raise and a new assignment.
I’d been working toward this for years, and it felt good to finally see all of my hard work pay off.
"You earned it," Alex said, taking the seat across from me at the bar.
"You’re one of the best detectives we’ve got."
I waved away his praise.
"Come on, you’re just saying that because we’re friends."
He shook his head.
"No, I’m saying it because it’s true."
He paused for a moment, taking a sip of his own beer before continuing.

"Seriously, Carter, you’ve got the instincts and the dedication. You deserve this."
I smiled, feeling a warmth that had nothing to do with the alcohol.
The bar was buzzing with the sounds of laughter and clinking glasses, my colleagues scattered around, celebrating my promotion.
"Hey, Willis!" shouted Jenkins from across the room, raising his glass. "To the new detective first class!"
I raised my bottle in response, grinning as everyone joined in the toast.
It felt good to be surrounded by friends who genuinely cared.
Just then, my phone buzzed in my pocket.
I pulled it out and saw Sara’s name on the screen.
"Excuse me for a second," I said to Alex as I stood up and walked towards a quieter corner of the bar.
"Hey, Sara," I answered, trying to keep my voice steady despite the noise around me.
"Carter," she replied, her tone cold and distant.
"Is everything okay?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
"We need to talk," she said curtly. "When are you coming home?"
"I’ll be back soon," I promised. "We’re just wrapping up here."

There was a pause on the other end of the line before she spoke again.
"Fine. See you then."
The call ended abruptly, leaving me staring at my phone with a sinking feeling in my stomach.
I returned to the bar and forced a smile as Alex handed me another beer.
"Everything alright?" he asked, concern etched on his face.
"Yeah," I lied. "Just some stuff at home."
He nodded, not pressing further, but I could tell he didn’t believe me.
The rest of the evening passed in a blur of laughter and congratulations, but my mind was elsewhere.
Finally, I decided it was time to head home.
I said my goodbyes and made my way out into the cool night air.
The drive home was quiet, giving me too much time to think about Sara and our strained relationship.
When I finally walked through the door of our apartment, it was well past midnight.
Sara was already in bed, but I could see she wasn’t asleep.
I leaned down and kissed her gently on the forehead.
She stirred and opened her eyes, looking up at me with a mixture of exhaustion and frustration.
"You’re late," she said flatly.
"I know," I admitted. "I’m sorry."

She sat up, crossing her arms over her chest. "We need to talk."
I sighed and sat down on the edge of the bed. "I know we do."
She took a deep breath before speaking again. "Carter, I can’t keep doing this. You’re never here. Your job always comes first."
"I’m trying," I said defensively. "You know how important this promotion was to me."
"And what about us?" she shot back. "Are we not important?"
"Of course you are," I insisted. "But this job... it’s demanding."
She shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes. "I’m tired of being second place in your life."
I reached out to touch her hand, but she pulled away.
"Sara, please," I begged. "I’ll change. I promise."
She looked at me for a long moment before lying back down and turning away from me.
"I’ve heard that before," she whispered.
I sat there in silence, feeling a mix of guilt and confusion wash over me.
What more could I do?
As Sara’s breathing steadied into sleep, I remained awake, staring at the ceiling and contemplating our future together.
