I was still a cub when I was rescued by the villagers.
At that time, my family and I were trying to get past a mountain when we were caught in a landslide.
I was the only one who could escape and fell down the mountain stream.
The stream was very rapid, and I was washed away for a long time until I reached a place where the stream merged with a larger river.
Because of the pain of falling rocks on my head, I fainted and fell into the river.
I drifted for a long time in the water until I lost all my strength and lost consciousness.
I don't know how long I was washed away; when I woke up, I was already on the shore, but my head was still soaked in the river.
Wolf King
The cold water lapped at the edge of my muzzle.
I tried to lift my head, but my limbs were so heavy that I could only move a little.
The smell of humans was getting stronger and stronger, mixed with wood smoke and cooking rice.
These smells were very familiar to me because my family had been observing the villagers for a long time.
We were cautious and did not dare to get close to them, but we could smell the delicious food they cooked every day.
I mustered all my strength and pushed against the muddy bank with my front paws.
My legs were so weak that they trembled as soon as they touched the ground.
Just as I was about to get up, I heard footsteps coming from not far away.
I quickly lay down again and pretended to be dead.
The footsteps got closer and closer, and I could hear two people talking.
Wolf King
One was a man, and the other was a woman.
They spoke in a language that I didn't understand, but their tone sounded like they were concerned about something. The villagers came closer and closer until they stood beside me.
I could feel their eyes on me, but I did not dare to move.
The man said something, and the woman replied.
Then the man reached out his hand and touched my fur.
I felt a little uncomfortable when his hand touched me, but I still did not dare to move.
The man said something again, and the woman replied.
Then the man picked me up gently in his arms.
"Are you sure it's safe to bring it back to the village, Hiro?" the woman asked, her voice tinged with worry.
Hiro nodded, cradling me carefully. "We can't just leave it here, Akiko; it's alone and injured."
Wolf King
Akiko sighed, glancing around nervously. "Alright, but we must be cautious; the elders won't be pleased if they find out."
I watched the two of them through half-closed eyes.
They exchanged a few more words, but I did not understand what they were talking about.
Then Hiro turned and walked toward the village path, Akiko following behind him.
Hiro held me closer to his chest, his weathered hands surprisingly gentle against my wet fur.
The warmth of his body began to seep into my cold limbs, and I felt my eyelids growing heavy.
Wolf King
Akiko's expression softened as she reached out to touch my matted tail.
At first, she was hesitant, but then her fingers carefully checked for any injuries.
I instinctively wanted to run away, but I forced myself to stay limp in Hiro's arms.
