Jani Monay
She is a 25yearold hiphop artist. She is brave, determined, and resourceful. While driving to a music festival with friends, she witnesses a terrifying car accident and harassment on the road. At the festival, she discovers a suspicious atmosphere and a disappearance of several guests. She tries to alert her friends and eventually escapes into the night forest, fearing for her life. Her exceptional quick thinking and courage save her from certain doom.
Kelcie Underwood
She is 25 years old and another friend of Jani. She is sociable, funloving, and slightly distracted at times. During their trip to the music festival, she becomes involved in a brief phone conversation with an unknown voice, diverting her attention away from the unfolding drama. Despite being under stress due to the mysterious events at the festival, she remains engaged with her friends and joins in trying to find missing guests.
Ladd
He is a 25yearold rock guitarist traveling with Jani's group. He is serious, focused, and observant. While performing at the festival, he notices something unusual happening backstage involving his friend's disappearance. He remains composed even in tense situations and uses his musical talent as a way to express his concern about what's happening at the festival as he continues playing on stage.
"Yessssss," I screamed as I raised my hands in the air, singing and dancing to the music blasting out of the SUV's stereo system.
The other passengers in the SUV with me were doing the same thing, while the ones in the other SUV were probably doing the same.
We were all excited to be on our way to Red Lodge, Montana, for one of the biggest music festivals of the year.
The drive was rough, though, because there were a lot of drunk drivers on the road, and while we were driving down the highway, one car swerved into our lane and almost hit us.
The driver of our SUV slammed on the brakes to avoid being rear-ended by another car.
The man behind us slammed on his brakes as well and ended up hitting a guardrail.
"Damn," my friend Tina Mari yelled as she placed her hand on her heart.
"Are you okay?" I asked her as I turned around to face her.
"Yes, I'm fine. Just shaken up a little," she replied.
We were all fine and shaken up, but thank God nobody got hurt.
As we drove along, we kept drinking and smoking weed.
I pulled my phone out of my purse, and my hands were still shaking from the accident we just had.
The other SUV was a little ahead of us, but we could still see it because of the dust that was kicked up on the mountain road.
All we could see were their red taillights.
I dialed OneTip's number and placed the phone to my ear.
Tina Mari passed me another drink, and I took a sip.
The call rang five times before going straight to voicemail.
I tried Ladd's phone, and it went straight to voicemail as well.
My stomach started to tighten up as I tried Willy's number.
After two rings, he picked up, and I could hear loud music blasting in the background.
He sounded like he was out of breath and laughing.
"Hello," he yelled into the phone.
"Willy, where are you guys?"
I asked him as I looked through their back window. "We're fine. We're just having fun," he replied, still sounding like he was out of breath.
I pulled the phone away from my ear and looked at the screen.
It was too bright in the dark SUV, so I had to squint my eyes.
The road curved sharply ahead of us, and Kelcie swerved to follow our friends' vehicle.
My stomach lurched as she did so.
I placed the phone back to my ear and heard Willy laughing.
"Willy, where are you guys?"
I yelled into the phone.
"We're a little ahead of you. We're about to make a right turn," he yelled back.
"Okay, we're behind you," I said before hanging up the phone.
I opened our text conversation and started typing with my thumbs.
The road was bumpy, and it was hard to type on the keyboard.
"Watch out for that drunk driver," I texted him.
The message showed as "delivered" but not "read."
I looked up through the dusty windshield and saw their brake lights flash red as they slowed down for another bend in the road.
The phone slipped out of my hands as Kelcie slammed on the brakes again.
"Sorry," she mumbled as she gripped the steering wheel tighter. I bent down and picked up my phone from under the seat.
The screen lit up with a new message: "We just crashed."
