Anonymous

Jun 14
Scenario:In any abandoned amusement park, find the largest roller coaster. Sit in the far left seat of the first cart, close your eyes, and whisper, "I wish to see the holder of catastrophe." Keep your eyes closed as the coaster moves. Ignore voices and hold onto the bar tightly. When the coaster stops, wait until you hear carnival music. Open your eyes to see a circus tent and happy people. Walk towards the tent. The scenery will morph, but keep moving forward. Reach the dark entrance, walk through, and continue until you see a dim light and hear sobbing. Follow the signs to a door where a clown sits with a diary. Listen to his story without looking away. Accept the diary but don't read it. Close your eyes, count to 12, then open them to find yourself back on the coaster. The diary is object 12 of 538.

Chapter 1
I’d been in some weird places before, but this one took the cake.
The room was a perfect square, with four doors and no windows.
The walls were painted a sickly green, and the only light came from a single bulb hanging from the ceiling.
In the center of the room was a table, and on that table was a coaster.
A very special coaster.
It was made of gold, with intricate carvings all around the edge.
The coaster was part of a set that I’d been collecting—objects of power, each hidden behind an incantation that only I could whisper.
Jack Harlow watched from behind me as I studied the coaster on the table. "Well?" he asked.
"What’s it say?"
I didn’t answer right away.
I gently touched the coaster with my finger.
It was cold to the touch, and when I looked down at it, I could see my own reflection shining back at me.
The carvings around the edge were beautiful—images of angels and demons intertwined around a central skull.
Somehow, they reminded me of the hieroglyphs on all those ancient tombs in Egypt—cryptic symbols that told a story, if only you knew how to read them.
"What do you think?" Jack asked again.
I didn’t answer this time either.
Instead, I leaned forward and peered through the hole in the center of the coaster.
I half-expected to see something on the other side—a hidden message or secret compartment that would reveal our next destination—but there was nothing there but darkness.
Frowning, I sat back up and studied the carvings again.
There had to be something here, some kind of clue about what I needed to say next.
It wasn’t like before—this time there were no words etched into the gold surface—just pictures and symbols that meant nothing to me.
"Em," Jack said, putting his hand on my shoulder.
"We don’t have all day."
Jack was right; we didn’t have all day—or all night either for that matter.
