MidReal Story

Whispers in the Dark

Scenario:The wind howled, sending shivers down the spine of a young man walking through the dark streets. The moon was full and bright. The cold September air made him pull his jacket tighter around his body. With each step he took, the wind found it’s way through the sleeves of his jacket. The buzzing of his phone pierced through the silence, bringing him out of his peaceful thoughts. He reached into his pocked and pulled out the device, its screen flashing with an unknown number. With a sigh, he answered the call, anticipating it to be a work emergency.

The wind howled, sending shivers down my spine.
I pulled my jacket a little tighter around my body in an attempt to keep the cold September air out.
I really should have just gone home after my shift finished, but I had decided to take a walk instead.
I loved this time of night.
The moon was full and bright, illuminating the dark streets.
It was quiet, with very few cars passing by.
I was alone, yet I didn’t feel lonely.
I felt at peace.
The only sounds being the wind and my footsteps, echoing through the empty streets.
It was a great way to clear my head and unwind after a long day’s work.
My phone buzzed in my pocket, piercing through the silence.
I stopped and pulled out my phone, seeing an unknown number flashing on the screen.
I lifted the phone to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Hello, is this Ethan Carter?"
A female voice asked.
I was instantly suspicious, wondering who it was and how they had gotten my number.
"Yes, it is."
