In a remote town, a legend warned of a cursed mansion. It was said that those who entered would never return. One night, a group of friends ventured into the mansion, only to be met with a sense of dread. The once-grand building was now a decaying ruin. Inside, they were overwhelmed by the smell of decay and eerie whispers.
The sun was setting on the small town of Ravenswood, casting a dark shadow over the land.
I stood with my back to the decaying mansion, looking out over the town.
I could see for miles, and it was breathtaking.
"Are you sure this is a good idea, Max?"
Lily asked me.
She stood beside me, looking up at the mansion.
It towered above us, the once white walls now decaying and gray.
Weeds grew through the cracks in the stone steps that led up to the grand entrance.
Inside, we had found a mess.
Furniture overturned, decay setting in, and the smell of death lingering in the air.
It was said that those who entered the mansion would never come out again.
But I didn't believe it.
I never believed in those old wives' tales.
My local historian and mentor, Mr. Jenkins, had told me that there was more to the mansion than met the eye.
He knew both Lily and I well; he had taught us most of what we knew about the paranormal.
And now he had given us this task.
To enter the mansion and debunk its curse.
But as we stood here looking up at the front of the building, I wasn't so sure anymore.
"What do you mean?"
I asked Lily.
"Well, it's just that we've been here for over an hour. And yet we still haven't seen anything."
