I’d never been to a concert before, so I didn’t know what to expect.
But when my best friend Sarah dragged me to see Taylor Swift, I was pleasantly surprised.
I’d always liked her music, but now I loved it.
And after a night of screaming at the top of my lungs and dancing until my feet hurt, I was buzzing.
As we filed out of the stadium with the rest of the crowd, I felt a strange sense of disappointment.
The night wasn’t over yet, and I didn’t want it to be.
Sarah must’ve felt the same way because she grabbed my hand and started pulling me through the crowd.
"Where are we going?"
I asked, but she just shook her head and kept pulling me along.
It wasn’t until we were standing in front of a giant tour bus that I realized where she was taking me.
"You’ve got to be kidding me," I breathed.
But Sarah just grinned and pushed me up the steps.
Wake Up to You
The interior of the tour bus was dimly lit, filled with the low hum of conversation and the occasional burst of laughter.
I blinked, trying to adjust my eyes to the darkness.
Sarah was already making her way through the narrow aisle, her excitement palpable.
I followed hesitantly, my heart pounding in my chest.
"Hey, over here!" Sarah called out, waving me over to a small group gathered at the back of the bus.
As I approached, I noticed him immediately.
Alex.
He was leaning against the wall, his piercing blue eyes scanning the room with a kind of detached amusement.
Wake Up to You
His presence was magnetic, drawing me in despite my better judgment.
"Hi," I said awkwardly as I reached the group.
Alex's gaze shifted to me, and for a moment, I felt like I was the only person in the room.
"Hey," he replied with a lazy smile. "You enjoying the night?"
"Yeah," I nodded, trying to keep my voice steady. "It’s been amazing."
Sarah nudged me playfully. "Emily here is a huge fan. First concert ever."
Alex raised an eyebrow. "First concert? Well, we’ll have to make sure it’s a night you won’t forget."
I laughed nervously, unsure of what to say.
Wake Up to You
Before I could think of a response, Alex pushed off the wall and moved closer to me.
"So, Emily," he said, his voice low and smooth. "What did you think of the show?"
"It was incredible," I admitted. "I’ve never experienced anything like it."
He grinned. "Glad to hear it. We put a lot of work into making sure everyone has a good time."
Sarah had already started chatting with someone else, leaving me alone with Alex.
The rest of the group seemed to fade into the background as we continued talking.
We moved to a quieter corner of the bus where we could hear each other better.
"So," Alex said, leaning in slightly. "What do you do when you’re not attending concerts?"
"I’m a student," I replied. "Studying literature."
"Literature?" He looked genuinely interested. "That’s cool. Any favorite authors?"
"Too many to count," I laughed. "But I’m really into classic novels."
We talked about books for what felt like hours.
I was surprised by how easy it was to talk to him, how natural our conversation flowed.
The more we talked, the more my initial reservations melted away.
At some point, someone handed us drinks.
I wasn’t much of a drinker, but tonight felt different—special somehow.
I took a sip and then another.
Before long, we were laughing and joking like old friends.
Wake Up to You
The bus had stopped moving at some point, parked somewhere unknown to me.
"Come on," Alex said suddenly, grabbing my hand. "Let’s get some fresh air."
We stumbled off the bus together and found ourselves in a quiet parking lot.
The cool night air was refreshing after the stuffy warmth inside.
"This is nice," I said softly.
"Yeah," Alex agreed. He looked up at the sky. "You can actually see the stars out here."
We stood there for a moment in comfortable silence before he turned to me again.
"You know," he began hesitantly. "I’m really glad you came tonight."
"Me too," I whispered.
Without thinking, I leaned in and kissed him.
It was impulsive and probably stupid, but it felt right in that moment.
When we finally pulled apart, he smiled down at me.
"Let’s go back inside," he suggested.
Back on the bus, things became a blur.
We ended up in his small bunk at the back of the bus, tangled together under thin blankets.
I don’t remember falling asleep, but when I woke up, it was still dark outside.
My head throbbed slightly as I tried to piece together what had happened.
I turned over and saw Alex lying next to me, his face peaceful in sleep.
Wake Up to You
Alex stirred awake, his eyes fluttering open to meet mine.
He smiled, and I felt a rush of emotions—excitement, guilt, and confusion all at once.
"Morning," he said softly.
"Morning," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.
I tried to recall the events of the previous night, but my memories were hazy.
Bits and pieces came back to me: the concert, the drinks, the kiss.
But everything else was a blur.
Alex must have noticed my confusion because he reached out and gently touched my arm.
"Are you okay?" he asked, concern evident in his eyes.
I nodded slowly, still trying to process everything.
"Yeah, just... trying to remember."
He leaned in and kissed me softly on the lips.
The touch sent shivers down my spine, grounding me in the present moment.
Before I could say anything more, the bus door creaked open, and Alex's bandmates walked in.
"Whoa," one of them said, stopping in his tracks when he saw us together. "Didn't expect to see this."
Alex chuckled and sat up, pulling me with him.
"Morning, guys," he greeted them casually.
The rest of the band filed in, their expressions ranging from surprise to amusement.
Wake Up to You
One of them, a tall guy with messy hair and a mischievous grin, raised an eyebrow at Alex.
"So," he began, "who's your friend?"
"This is Emily," Alex introduced me. "We met last night at the concert."
"Nice to meet you," I said awkwardly, giving a small wave.
The tall guy grinned. "I'm Jake. And these are Matt and Ryan."
Matt nodded in acknowledgment while Ryan gave a small wave.
I could feel my cheeks burning with embarrassment as they all looked at us.
"Well," Jake said with a smirk. "Looks like someone had a good night."
Alex laughed and shook his head. "Alright, alright. Let's not make her uncomfortable."
I appreciated his attempt to deflect the attention away from me.
The bandmates started chatting among themselves, giving us a bit of privacy.
"You okay?" Alex asked again, his voice low so only I could hear.
"Yeah," I replied more confidently this time. "Just... processing."
He nodded understandingly. "Take your time."
As the bandmates continued their morning routine—grabbing coffee, tuning instruments—I took a moment to look around the bus.
The interior was cluttered but cozy.
Wake Up to You
Posters of various bands adorned the walls, and empty pizza boxes were stacked in a corner.
It felt lived-in, like a second home for these guys.
"So," Jake said suddenly, turning back to us. "What's the plan for today?"
Alex glanced at me before answering. "Well, we have some free time before our next gig. Thought we might explore the city a bit."
Jake nodded approvingly. "Sounds good to me."
I felt a surge of excitement at the prospect of spending more time with Alex.
Despite the confusion and uncertainty swirling in my mind, I couldn't deny that I wanted to see where this would go.
"Mind if I tag along?" I asked hesitantly.
Alex's face lit up with a smile. "I'd love that."
We spent the next few minutes getting ready to leave the bus.
I borrowed a hoodie from Alex since I didn't have any other clothes with me.
It was way too big but comfortable nonetheless.
As we stepped off the bus into the bright morning light, I felt a sense of anticipation building inside me.
The city stretched out before us, full of possibilities and unknown adventures.
"Ready?" Alex asked, taking my hand in his.
"Ready," I replied with a grin.
Wake Up to You
As we stepped off the bus, the morning sunlight highlighted our disheveled appearance.
I squinted against the brightness, feeling a bit self-conscious about my messy hair and smudged makeup.
Alex's bandmates were already outside, stretching and yawning.
Jake noticed us first and broke into a teasing grin.
"Look who finally decided to join the land of the living!" he called out.
Matt and Ryan turned to look at us, their expressions amused.
"Rough night?" Matt asked with a smirk.
I felt my cheeks heat up, but Alex remained calm.
He wrapped an arm around my shoulders protectively.
"Just a late one," he said nonchalantly. "No big deal."
Ryan chuckled. "Well, you two certainly look like you had fun."
Ignoring their teasing, Alex guided me towards a nearby café for breakfast.
The smell of fresh coffee and baked goods wafted through the air as we approached.
The café was small but inviting, with wooden tables and potted plants adding a touch of warmth to the atmosphere.
We found a table by the window and sat down.
I glanced around, taking in the cozy environment while trying to piece together the previous night's events.
Wake Up to You
Bits and pieces floated back—laughter, music, Alex's smile—but it was all still hazy.
A waitress came over to take our order.
"I'll have a black coffee," Alex said, looking at me expectantly.
"Um, I'll have the same," I replied, still distracted by my fragmented memories.
As we waited for our drinks, Alex leaned back in his chair and studied me with a thoughtful expression.
"You seem lost in thought," he observed.
"Yeah," I admitted. "Just trying to remember everything from last night."
He nodded understandingly. "It was a lot to take in."
Our coffees arrived, and I took a sip, savoring the warmth and bitterness that helped clear my head a bit.
"So," I began hesitantly. "Tell me more about your band."
Alex's eyes lit up with enthusiasm. "We're called 'Echoes in Time.' We've been together for about three years now."
"That's amazing," I said genuinely interested. "What kind of music do you play?"
"A mix of rock and indie," he explained. "We've got a few gigs lined up in the next couple of weeks."
As he spoke about his passion for music and the band's upcoming shows, I found myself captivated by his charisma.
Wake Up to You
His eyes sparkled with excitement, and his voice carried an infectious energy that drew me in.
We laughed and joked over our coffee, sharing stories about our lives and interests.
The more we talked, the more I felt a deeper connection forming between us.
Yet, despite the growing bond, uncertainty lingered in the back of my mind.
Suddenly, something outside the window caught my eye.
A figure stood across the street, watching us with an unnerving intensity.
I couldn't make out their features clearly, but there was something familiar about them.
"Alex," I whispered urgently. "Look outside."
He followed my gaze and frowned when he saw the figure.
"Do you know them?" he asked quietly.
"I think so," I replied, my heart pounding. "I saw them last night in the parking lot."
The figure didn't move, just continued to stare at us with an unsettling focus.
Alex reached across the table and took my hand reassuringly. "Don't worry. We'll figure this out."
But as much as I wanted to believe him, a sense of unease settled over me.
Wake Up to You
The unease gnawed at me as I tried to focus on Alex's reassuring words.
My phone buzzed on the table, making me jump.
I glanced at the screen and saw an unknown number.
"Who is it?" Alex asked, his eyes narrowing.
"I don't know," I replied, my voice shaky.
I hesitated for a moment before opening the message.
"We need to talk. Now." The text read.
I showed it to Alex, who frowned deeply.
"That's creepy," he muttered. "Do you recognize the number?"
I shook my head. "No, but it feels connected to that person outside."
Alex leaned closer, lowering his voice. "We need to find out who this is. Any ideas?"
I took a deep breath, trying to think clearly. "Maybe we can lure them out? Confront them directly?"
He nodded slowly. "Alright, but we need to be careful. Let's come up with a plan."
We finished our coffee quickly, the tension between us palpable.
As we stood up to leave, I glanced out the window again.
The figure was still there, watching us intently.
Alex and I stepped outside, the crisp morning air hitting us like a wake-up call.
He squeezed my hand reassuringly. "Stay close to me."
We walked down the street, pretending to be casual while keeping an eye on our surroundings.
The figure followed at a distance, their presence a constant shadow.
Wake Up to You
"Let's head to that alley," Alex suggested quietly, nodding towards a narrow passageway between two buildings.
I nodded, my heart racing as we turned into the alley.
The walls were lined with graffiti and discarded trash, giving it an eerie feel.
We stopped halfway down and turned to face the entrance.
"Okay," Alex whispered. "When they come in, we'll confront them together."
Moments later, the figure appeared at the mouth of the alley.
They hesitated for a moment before stepping forward.
As they came closer, I could finally make out their features—a young man with dark hair and piercing eyes.
"Who are you?" Alex demanded, stepping protectively in front of me.
The man stopped a few feet away, his expression unreadable.
"My name is Ethan," he said calmly. "And I'm here to warn you."
"Warn us about what?" I asked, my voice trembling.
Ethan glanced around nervously before speaking again. "You're in danger. Both of you."
Alex's grip on my hand tightened. "What kind of danger?"
Ethan took a deep breath. "There's someone after you—someone dangerous. They know about last night and they're not happy."
I felt a chill run down my spine. "How do you know this?"
"I've been watching them," Ethan admitted. "Trying to keep you safe."
Alex looked skeptical. "Why should we trust you?"
Ethan's eyes softened slightly. "Because I have no reason to lie. I'm risking a lot just by being here."
Wake Up to You
Before we could respond, my phone buzzed again.
Another text from the unknown number: "Time's running out."
I showed it to Ethan, who swore under his breath.
"We need to move," he said urgently. "Now."
Alex glanced at me, his expression conflicted.
"Emily... what do you want to do?"
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves.
"We follow him," I decided firmly. "We need answers."
Ethan nodded and led us out of the alley, moving quickly through the streets.
We followed closely behind, our hearts pounding with every step.
As we rounded a corner, Ethan suddenly stopped and turned to face us.
"This way," he said, pointing towards an abandoned building.
We hesitated for a moment before following him inside.
The interior was dark and musty, filled with broken furniture and debris.
Ethan led us up a flight of creaky stairs and into a small room at the back of the building.
He closed the door behind us and turned on a dim light.
"This should be safe for now," he said quietly.
Alex looked around warily before turning back to Ethan.
"Alright," he said firmly. "Start talking."
Ethan took another deep breath before beginning his story.
As he spoke, I couldn't shake the feeling that our lives were about to change forever.
Suddenly, there was a loud crash from downstairs.
Ethan's eyes widened in fear as he whispered urgently,
"We need to hide. Now."
Alex and I exchanged a quick glance before following Ethan's lead.
He motioned us towards a large wardrobe in the corner of the room.
We squeezed inside, the cramped space forcing us to huddle close together.
The scent of old wood and dust filled my nostrils as I tried to steady my breathing.
Ethan pulled the door shut just as footsteps echoed up the stairs.
My heart pounded in my chest, each beat louder than the last.
I could feel Alex's hand gripping mine tightly, his presence a small comfort in the darkness.
The footsteps grew closer, accompanied by low voices.
I strained to hear what they were saying, but their words were muffled by the thick walls of the wardrobe.
Suddenly, the door to our hiding place creaked open slightly, letting in a sliver of light.
"Search everywhere," a gruff voice commanded. "They can't have gone far."
My breath caught in my throat as shadows moved across the floor outside.
I could see the outline of boots and hear the rustling of clothing as they searched the room.
Ethan remained perfectly still beside us, his eyes wide with fear.
Wake Up to You
One of the intruders approached the wardrobe, their footsteps heavy on the wooden floor.
I held my breath, praying they wouldn't open the door.
The handle jiggled slightly, and I felt a surge of panic.
Just when I thought we were about to be discovered, another voice called out from the hallway.
"Nothing here. Let's check downstairs."
The footsteps retreated, and I let out a shaky breath.
Ethan waited a few more moments before cautiously opening the wardrobe door.
"We need to move," he whispered urgently. "They'll be back."
We slipped out of our hiding place and followed Ethan down a narrow hallway.
The building was eerily silent now, every creak and groan amplified in the stillness.
Ethan led us to a small window at the end of the corridor.
"Out here," he instructed, pushing it open. "We can escape through the fire escape."
Alex climbed out first, helping me through before following himself.
The metal fire escape was cold under my hands as we descended quickly but quietly.
Once we reached the ground, Ethan motioned for us to follow him into a nearby alley.
We ran through the maze of narrow streets and alleys, our footsteps echoing off the walls.
Wake Up to You
My lungs burned with exertion, but I pushed myself to keep up with Ethan's frantic pace.
Finally, we emerged onto a quiet street lined with old buildings.
Ethan led us into an empty storefront and locked the door behind us.
"We should be safe here for now," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Alex turned to Ethan, his expression a mix of frustration and fear. "What is going on? Who are those people?"
Ethan took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "They're part of an organization that deals with... unusual occurrences. They think you know something about last night that you shouldn't."
I felt a chill run down my spine. "But we don't remember anything."
"They don't care," Ethan replied grimly. "They believe you saw something important, and they'll do whatever it takes to find out what it is."
Alex ran a hand through his hair, clearly agitated. "So what do we do now?"
Ethan glanced around nervously before answering. "We need to find somewhere truly safe where we can figure out what happened last night and why they're after you."
Before any of us could say more, there was another loud crash from outside.
Wake Up to You
Ethan's phone buzzed, and he glanced at the screen, his face paling instantly.
"What is it?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Ethan swallowed hard, his eyes darting to the door. "They're here. They found us."
Alex's jaw tightened. "We need to move. Now."
Ethan nodded, shoving his phone back into his pocket. "Follow me. Quickly."
We dashed through the dimly lit room, our footsteps echoing off the worn wooden floors. Ethan led us to a back door, which he pushed open with a creak. The alley behind the storefront was narrow and cluttered with trash bins and discarded boxes.
"This way," Ethan urged, motioning for us to follow him down the alley.
The cold air bit at my skin as we sprinted through the maze of alleys, our breaths coming in ragged gasps. The sound of approaching footsteps echoed behind us, growing louder with each passing second.
"Faster!" Alex urged, his hand gripping mine tightly as we ran.
We rounded a corner and found ourselves in a small courtyard surrounded by tall buildings. Ethan scanned the area quickly before pointing to a fire escape ladder.
"Up there!" he said urgently.
Wake Up to You
Alex boosted me up first, and I scrambled onto the metal rungs, my hands trembling with adrenaline. Ethan followed closely behind, with Alex bringing up the rear. We climbed as fast as we could, the metal clanging beneath our feet.
As we reached the rooftop, I glanced down and saw several figures entering the courtyard below. My heart pounded in my chest as I realized how close they were.
"Keep moving," Ethan whispered urgently, leading us across the rooftop towards another building.
We jumped from one rooftop to the next, our movements fueled by sheer desperation. The city stretched out around us, a labyrinth of concrete and steel bathed in the early morning light.
Finally, we reached a building with an open skylight. Ethan peered inside before motioning for us to follow him down. We descended into what appeared to be an old storage room filled with dusty crates and forgotten equipment.
Ethan closed the skylight behind us and turned to face Alex and me. His expression was grim but determined.
"We should be safe here for a little while," he said quietly.
Alex leaned against a crate, catching his breath. "What now?"
Ethan took a deep breath. "We need to figure out what happened last night and why they're after you."
I nodded, feeling a mix of fear and determination. "But how do we do that? Our memories are so fragmented."
Ethan frowned thoughtfully. "There might be someone who can help us—someone who specializes in recovering lost memories."
Wake Up to You
Alex raised an eyebrow skeptically. "And where do we find this person?"
Ethan hesitated for a moment before answering. "There's an underground network of people who deal with... unusual situations like this. I know someone who can get us in touch with them."
I exchanged a glance with Alex, who nodded slowly. "Alright," he said firmly. "Let's do it."
Ethan pulled out his phone again and began typing rapidly. "I'll contact my source and set up a meeting."
As he worked on arranging our next move, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched. The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end as I scanned the dark corners of the room.
"Emily," Alex said softly, noticing my unease. "Are you okay?"
I forced a small smile and nodded. "Yeah, just... on edge."
He squeezed my hand reassuringly. "We'll get through this together."
Before I could respond, Ethan's phone buzzed again. He glanced at the screen and then looked up at us with a mixture of relief and urgency.
"I've got an address," he said quickly. "We need to leave now."
Without wasting any time, we made our way back to the skylight and climbed out onto the rooftop once more. The city below seemed both familiar and alien as we navigated its heights and shadows.
As we moved towards our new destination, I couldn't help but wonder what awaited us there—and whether we'd finally find the answers we so desperately needed.
Wake Up to You
As we prepared to leave the storage room, a sudden chill ran down my spine.
I turned to see a shadowy figure emerging from the darkness.
The figure blocked our path with a menacing grin.
"Who the hell are you?" Alex demanded, stepping in front of me protectively.
The figure took a step closer, his face partially obscured by the dim light.
"You've been causing quite a bit of trouble," he said, his voice low and threatening.
Ethan's eyes widened in recognition. "Marcus," he whispered, his voice filled with dread.
Marcus chuckled darkly. "Ah, Ethan. Still playing the hero, I see."
Ethan clenched his fists. "What do you want, Marcus?"
Marcus's grin widened. "I want what you took from us last night."
Alex glanced at Ethan, confusion etched on his face. "What is he talking about?"
Ethan didn't take his eyes off Marcus. "He's part of the organization I told you about. They're after something we have."
Marcus took another step forward, his eyes glinting with malice. "Hand it over, and maybe I'll let you live."
I felt a surge of anger and fear. "We don't even know what you're talking about!"
Marcus's grin faltered for a moment before he regained his composure. "Playing dumb won't save you."
Wake Up to You
Ethan moved closer to Alex and me, his voice low and urgent. "We need to get out of here. Now."
Marcus lunged forward, but Ethan was quicker. He grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the door at the back of the room.
"Run!" Ethan shouted.
We bolted through the door, our footsteps echoing in the narrow hallway beyond.
Marcus's laughter followed us, chilling me to the bone.
"Keep moving!" Alex urged, his grip on my hand tightening as we sprinted down the corridor.
We burst through another door and found ourselves in a dimly lit stairwell.
"Up or down?" I asked breathlessly.
"Down," Ethan decided quickly. "We need to get to street level."
We raced down the stairs, our breaths coming in ragged gasps.
Behind us, we could hear Marcus's footsteps growing louder.
As we reached the bottom of the stairwell, Ethan pushed open a heavy metal door leading to an alleyway.
The cold night air hit us like a slap in the face as we stumbled outside.
"This way," Ethan said urgently, leading us through the maze of alleys once more.
My heart pounded in my chest as we ran, every shadow seeming to conceal another threat.
Finally, we emerged onto a quiet street lined with old buildings.
Ethan led us into another empty storefront and locked the door behind us.
Wake Up to You
"We should be safe here for now," he said quietly, though his eyes betrayed his uncertainty.
Alex turned to Ethan, frustration evident in his voice. "What did we take? What is he after?"
Ethan shook his head. "I don't know exactly. But whatever it is, it's important enough for them to hunt us down."
I felt a wave of exhaustion wash over me. "How do we find out what it is?"
Ethan took a deep breath. "We need to contact that person I mentioned earlier—the one who can help recover lost memories."
Alex nodded grimly. "Then let's do it."
Ethan pulled out his phone and began typing rapidly once more.
As he worked on arranging our next move, I couldn't shake the feeling that Marcus was still out there, watching us from the shadows.
"We need to stay alert," I said softly to Alex.
He nodded in agreement. "We'll get through this together."
Before I could say more, Ethan's phone buzzed again.
"I've got an address," he said quickly. "We need to leave now."
Without wasting any time, we made our way back into the alley and continued our desperate flight through the city's labyrinthine streets.
The night seemed endless as we moved towards our new destination—each step bringing us closer to answers but also deeper into danger.
Wake Up to You
Ethan's phone buzzed again, this time with a cryptic message that made his face go pale.
"What is it?" I asked, my voice trembling.
Ethan swallowed hard, his eyes darting to the door. "It's a warning. They're closing in on us."

Suddenly, Ethan's phone buzzed again.
He stopped abruptly.
His face went even paler than before.
"Ethan?" I asked nervously.
He showed me the screen.
