I was fifteen when my dad died in a car accident.

I had just gotten my period and was screaming at him because he wouldn't take me to the store to buy sanitary pads.

I felt so guilty for the rest of my life that I never screamed at anyone else again.

After his death, we moved to a new town, and I began attending a new school.

Crestwood High.

It was bigger than my old school, with three floors instead of two.

The first day was hell.

I had no idea where my classes were, and the few students who talked to me only did so out of pity.

I spent most of the day lost in the maze of hallways, feeling like an idiot.

At lunchtime, I sat alone in the cafeteria until a girl with blonde hair came over and sat down next to me.

"I'm Rose," she said.

"Welcome to Crestwood High."

Rose ate her sandwich and salad with me, chatting about my first day and what I thought of the school.

She told me that she was on the school council and loved to dance.

As we talked, a group of girls eyed us from across the room.

Rose followed my gaze and rolled her eyes.

" Ignore them," she said.
