My boyfriend ask my hand
"Will you marry me, Emily?"
I don’t know what I was expecting him to say, but it wasn’t that.
I look at the ring in his hand and it takes me a moment to realize what’s going on.
It’s beautiful—a simple gold band with a modest diamond—and I can’t stop staring at it.
"Are you sure?"
I ask, my mouth hanging open.
"Is this a joke?"
He smiles and gets down on one knee.
"Emily Carter, from the moment I met you, I knew you were special.
I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy.
Will you marry me?"
Tears fill my eyes as I stare at him.
I can’t move, can’t speak, can’t pull my gaze away from the ring.
Unexpected Proposal
I hear the clinking of glasses and murmurs of other diners around us, but it all fades into the background.
Jack’s eyes are locked onto mine, full of hope and love.
"Emily?" he prompts gently, his voice trembling just a bit.
My heart pounds in my chest like a drum.
This is real.
This is happening.
I glance around the restaurant, taking in the candlelit tables and soft music playing in the background.
Everything feels surreal, like I’m in a dream.
"Jack, I..." My voice cracks as I try to find the right words.
I love him, I know that much.
But marriage?
It’s such a huge step.
He reaches out and takes my hand, his touch warm and reassuring.
"I know this is sudden," he says softly, "but I’ve never been more certain about anything in my life."
I look into his eyes, searching for any hint of doubt or hesitation.
All I see is sincerity.
Unexpected Proposal
"I’ve thought about this for a long time," he continues. "You’re my best friend, my partner in crime. I can’t imagine my life without you."
Tears spill over onto my cheeks, and I quickly wipe them away with the back of my hand.
"I love you so much," I whisper.
A smile spreads across his face, and he squeezes my hand tighter.
"Then say yes," he urges gently. "Let’s start our forever together."
My mind races with a million thoughts and emotions.
What if we’re rushing into this?
What if things change?
But then I remember all the moments we’ve shared—the laughter, the adventures, the quiet nights curled up on the couch.
I take a deep breath and nod slowly.
"Yes," I whisper, barely able to get the word out through my tears.
His face lights up with joy as he slips the ring onto my finger.
It fits perfectly, like it was made for me.
The restaurant erupts into applause and cheers as Jack stands up and pulls me into his arms.
He kisses me deeply, and for a moment, everything else disappears.
Unexpected Proposal
When we finally pull apart, he rests his forehead against mine and whispers, "You’ve made me the happiest man in the world."
I smile through my tears and whisper back, "And you’ve made me the happiest woman."
We sit back down at our table, still holding hands as our food arrives.
I can’t stop staring at the ring on my finger, feeling its weight and significance.
Jack raises his glass of champagne and says, "To us."
"To us," I echo, clinking my glass against his.
As we eat, we talk about our future—where we’ll live, what kind of wedding we want, all the dreams we have for our life together.
Unexpected Proposal
The restaurant buzzes with the energy of our excitement, and I can’t help but feel a sense of euphoria wash over me.
Jack’s eyes never leave mine, and I feel like the luckiest woman in the world.
As we finish our meal, I take a moment to look around the room.
The soft glow of candlelight casts a warm ambiance over the tables, and the gentle hum of conversation fills the air.
It’s a perfect evening.
Just as I’m about to suggest we order dessert, the door swings open, and a familiar face walks in.
My heart skips a beat as I recognize him instantly—David.
David was my first love, the one who got away.
Seeing him now, after all these years, feels like a punch to the gut.
He looks almost the same—tall, with dark hair and those piercing blue eyes that once made my knees weak.
“Emily?” Jack’s voice pulls me back to reality.
I realize I’ve been staring at David, and quickly turn my attention back to Jack.
“Sorry,” I mumble, forcing a smile. “I thought I saw someone I knew.”
Jack follows my gaze and raises an eyebrow. “An old friend?”
“Something like that,” I reply, trying to sound casual.
David hasn’t noticed me yet.
Unexpected Proposal
He’s busy talking to the hostess, probably asking for a table.
I can’t help but wonder what he’s doing here.
Is he alone?
With someone?
Jack reaches across the table and takes my hand. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” I say, squeezing his hand reassuringly. “Just surprised, that’s all.”
The hostess leads David to a table not far from ours.
As he sits down, he finally looks around the room—and his eyes land on me.
For a moment, neither of us moves.
Then, he smiles and gives a small nod.
I return the gesture awkwardly and turn back to Jack.
“Do you want to get out of here?” he asks gently.
“No,” I say quickly. “It’s fine. Let’s just enjoy our evening.”
