A woman with long blonde hair and big blue eyes walked into the bookstore.

I was sitting behind the counter with my nose buried in a book.

I always tried to read as much as possible when I was working alone.

My green eyes were fixed on the page, following along with the story, until I heard the door open.

I looked up, giving her my attention.

She smiled and scanned the store, taking in what I assumed was a mess of shelves and books.

The place wasn’t huge by any means, but it was always well organized.

My boss liked things a certain way, and I respected that.

I knew exactly where every book was, even without looking.

When she finally settled her gaze on me, she smiled again and made her way towards me.

My heart rate spiked, and my hands suddenly felt clammy.

What the hell was wrong with me?
