I was born in 1990.
I grew up watching sci-fi movies and tv shows.
I loved the idea of time travel, parallel universes, and dystopian futures.
But I never thought I'd live through one.
In 2050's Earth faced an ecological disaster that threatened human survival.
Sea levels rose, weather patterns became extreme, food and water became scarce.
The world economy collapsed and governments fell.
In the end only one city remained; Elysium.
A utopia created by the corporation Omicron.
It was a city in the sky powered by a clean energy source and protected from the ravages of the environment.
It had everything it needed to sustain human life including food produced in vertical farms and water recycled from the atmosphere.
In 2060 I was twenty years old, working as an engineer in a small factory that produced spare parts for Elysium.
I had just made friends with a girl named Elara Voss who worked as a scientist in one of the labs of the city.
She was twenty five years old and had long silver hair.
Beautiful and intelligent she immediately became my favorite person to talk to.
One day while we were having lunch together she told me about a project she was working on with a team of other scientists led by a man named Marcus Thorne.
Apparently they were trying to find a way to travel through time using wormholes.
Marcus was a former leader of one of the many rebel groups that fought against Omicron before Elysium was completed.
