I open my eyes and groan.
My head throbs, and my mouth is dry.
I shift, trying to sit up, but something holds me down.
I blink and look around.
The car is sleek black with neon green lights running along the dashboard and under the seats.
The young man from the alley sits in the driver’s seat, staring at me with piercing blue eyes.
He’s handsome, and his hair is short and black.
He looks about my age.
I try to sit up again.
"What happened?"
I ask.
"You passed out," he says.
His voice is deep but smooth like silk.
"Why?"
I ask.
"You were injured. I had to bring you here."
"Where is here?"
I ask.
"My car," he says.
I look out the window.
The city glows with neon lights in purple and green, some that move like waves.
