我是一个失败的PhD,一天深夜我走在实验室回家的路上,突然
Evelyn Carter
sarcastic, and selfconscious. After a lab accident, she gains the ability to manipulate time. Initially overwhelmed, she struggles with her new powers and their implications. She grapples with feelings of inadequacy and failure, but her newfound abilities give her a chance to redeem herself and change her life's trajectory.
Dr. Henry Lee
demanding, and dismissive. His high expectations led to Evelyn's failure in completing her PhD thesis on time manipulation theories. Although he doubted Evelyn's abilities initially, he later becomes involved in helping her understand her newfound powers after the lab accident.
Dr. Sophia Patel
reserved, and analytical. Sophia helps Evelyn comprehend the scientific aspects of her new powers while maintaining a professional distance from personal matters involving Evelyn's past failures.
One night, I was walking home from the lab, feeling particularly defeated.
I’d just been informed that I wouldn’t be able to complete my PhD due to lack of progress on my thesis.
To make matters worse, it was pouring rain, and I was drenched.
As I turned the corner onto my street, I heard a voice call out behind me.
"Hey, Evelyn," Marcus Thompson, my best friend, said with a wave.
"Hey," I replied, sitting down next to him on the bench outside his apartment building.
He handed me a tissue and I wiped my face, trying to clean up a bit.
"You look like you’ve had a rough day," he said with a concerned smile.
"Just Dr. Lee being his usual delightful self," I sighed.
"He told me I wouldn’t be able to finish my PhD."
Marcus put a hand on my shoulder in support.
"Well, you’ll get ‘em next time," he said comfortingly.
I groaned at his terrible joke.
"Thanks, man," I said sarcastically.
"No problem. So what are you doing out here?"
"Just headed home from the lab. You?"
"Same," he said.
"I’m going to go inside soon, but I wanted to wait and make sure you were okay. I’ve been texting you all night, but you haven’t been answering."
"I forgot my phone in my office," I explained.
Marcus nodded.
