I lower my practice knife and scan the dense treeline surrounding our makeshift training area.

I grip the knife tighter, the familiar handle slick with sweat.
I move forward twenty feet from the bushes, crouching low to avoid being seen.
Jace moves silently to my left, his crossbow trained on the movement.
The sun is setting quickly, casting long shadows across the forest floor.
