My name is Lizzy Granger.
I'm going to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with my two best friends Jake and Dean.
They are very protective of me.
My sister is Hermione Granger.
She is with Draco Malfoy.
I don't know if Ron Weasley knows that.
My sister is very beautiful, smart, brave, and kind.
She fell in love with Draco because he changed for her.
He became a good person for her.
My sister is the most beautiful in the wizarding world.
She met him when she was 16 years old and he was 17 years old.
Despite the odds, her heart chose Draco, captivated by the profound transformation he underwent just for her.
As I follow Jake and Dean through the winding corridors of the Slytherin dungeon, I can't help but feel a sense of excitement and trepidation.
Our new home for the next few years is nestled deep within the bowels of Hogwarts, far from the prying eyes of the other students.
The dimly lit passageways are adorned with cobweb-covered portraits of former Slytherin students, their faces eerily illuminated by flickering torches that line the walls.
As we round a particularly sharp bend, the common room comes into view, bathed in an ethereal green glow that filters down from the lake above.
The room is surprisingly spacious, with plush black couches and armchairs arranged around a roaring fire that crackles and spits embers onto the stone hearth.
Dean claims one of the black leather armchairs for himself, sinking into its softness with a contented sigh.
Jake sprawls out across the adjacent sofa, leaving just enough room for me to perch beside him. The other Slytherin students eye us warily, whispering amongst themselves as they try to determine our place within their ranks.
A group of third-years huddles near the fireplace, stealing glances at us over their steaming cups of tea.
I fidget nervously with the silver ring that Jake and Dean gave me earlier, its cool metal surface a comforting presence against my trembling fingers.
Just as I'm beginning to feel like an outsider among my new classmates, a prefect approaches our little trio to explain the rules of our new home.
"Welcome to Slytherin," the prefect drones on, "I trust you're all settling in nicely. Just a few rules to go over before you're free to do as you please. Curfew is at 11 PM, unless you have permission from a teacher or another prefect to be out later. The dungeons are off-limits, as are the restricted sections of the library. And of course, there's the password for the common room. This year's password is 'Nimbus.' Memorize it, and don't share it with anyone."
As the prefect continues to prattle on about everything from class schedules to Quidditch tryouts, I find my attention drawn back to Jake.
His hand rests mere inches from mine on the sofa cushion, his fingers curled loosely into a fist.
Suddenly, he shifts closer, his shoulder pressing against mine and sending a shiver down my spine.
My heart pounds unexpectedly in my chest, and I force myself to focus on the prefect's words. "Right, that's all for now," the prefect concludes.
"Any questions?"
I raise my hand tentatively, trying to ignore the butterflies fluttering in my stomach.
"Yes, Lizzy?"
The prefect smiles kindly at me.
"Um, when are our classes? And how do we know what we're taking?"
The prefect chuckles.
"You'll find your schedules on your beds upstairs. As for what classes you'll be taking, that's up to your professors to decide. They'll sort you into their classes based on your aptitude and interests."
I nod silently, trying not to let Jake's proximity distract me further.
Dean shoots us a questioning look from his armchair, raising an eyebrow at how close we're sitting.
I shift away from Jake slightly, feeling a little self-conscious under Dean's scrutiny.
The third-years by the fireplace continue to steal glances at us, their whispers growing more urgent as they try to figure out our relationship.
I fidget nervously with my ring again, reminding myself that I'm dating Mattheo Riddle.
Jake's fingers brush against mine as he reaches for his glass of water, sending a jolt of electricity through me.
"Right, that's all for now," the prefect says finally, "You're free to do as you please. Just remember the rules, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns."
As the prefect departs, the common room begins to empty.
Students file up the stairs to their dormitories, eager to claim their beds and settle in for the night.
I stay behind with Jake and Dean, pretending to organize my textbooks as an excuse not to leave.
Dean leans forward in his armchair, his eyes gleaming mischievously in the firelight.
"I saw some interesting things on my way down from our rooms," he whispers.
"Secret passages, hidden doors. I think there's more to this place than meets the eye."
Jake perks up at this, his eyes lighting with excitement.
"Where? Did you see anything?"
Dean pulls a piece of parchment from his pocket, its surface covered in crude sketches of corridor layouts.
"I didn't have time to investigate," he continues, "But I marked some of the spots I saw. Maybe we can go exploring tomorrow night." My heart sinks at Dean's suggestion.
I don't want to break the rules on our first night at Hogwarts, especially when I'm still trying to figure out my relationship with Mattheo.
"Let's talk about it tomorrow," I say reluctantly, "I'm still feeling a little overwhelmed."
Dean winks at me, stuffing his map away once more.
"Tomorrow night then. Goodnight, Lizzy."
I smile weakly at him before climbing the stairs to my dormitory.
The sound of footsteps echoes up from the dormitory stairs just as I reach the landing.
Dean's eyes flicker towards me warningly as he hears them too, and he quickly stuffs his map back into his pocket.
I turn away, knowing that tomorrow will bring its own challenges and secrets.
Following the boys up the spiral staircase, I pause at the fork that leads to our separate dormitories.
Dean waves goodnight and disappears down the boys' corridor, while Jake lingers for a moment beside me.
His hand brushes against my arm as he passes, sending a shiver down my spine.
The girls' dormitory is empty when I enter, its rows of four-poster beds bathed in an ethereal green glow from the lake above.
My trunk has already been placed beside one of the vacant beds, its wooden posts adorned with intricately carved green silk hangings.
I change quickly into my nightgown before climbing onto the mattress, running my fingers over the silver ring that Jake and Dean gave me.
The curtains billow gently in the breeze, casting shadows across the bed as I settle in for the night.
Just as I'm about to close my eyes, the door creaks open, and a familiar face peeks in.
"Lizzy, are you awake?" whispers a voice I recognize instantly—it's Mattheo.
I sit up quickly, heart racing. "Mattheo, what are you doing here?"
He steps into the room, his face bathed in the green glow from the lake.
The sight of him is so unexpected that I forget to be angry.
He shouldn't be here, in the girls' dormitory, but my protests die on my lips as he approaches.
"Missed you," he whispers, sitting down on the edge of my bed.
His fingers close around mine, his touch sending shivers down my spine.
The silver ring on my finger feels heavy beneath his grip, a reminder of the secrets I've kept from him.
Suddenly, the dormitory door creaks open again, and footsteps echo on the stone floor.
Mattheo's eyes flicker towards the doorway, and he quickly slides behind my bed curtains.
"Who's there?" I call out, trying to keep my voice steady.
"It's just me, Jake," he replies softly, stepping into the room with a cautious glance around.
Mattheo's grip on my hand tightens as he whispers urgently, "Does he know about us?"
I shake my head, trying to reassure him.
Jake stands in the doorway for a moment, his silhouette framed by the green glow from the lake windows.
"I thought I heard voices," he says finally, stepping closer.
Mattheo's grip on my hand becomes almost painful as he presses himself against the back of the bed, making the silver ring on my other hand feel ice-cold.
"Just talking to myself," I reply with a casual smile, pulling my blanket higher.
"Getting used to the new space."
Jake lingers for a moment, his eyes scanning the room.
I grip my wand tightly beneath the covers, ready to distract him if Mattheo makes a sound.
Jake nods slowly, his eyes lingering on me for a moment longer before he turns and leaves, the door closing softly behind him.
As soon as his footsteps fade down the corridor, I pull out my wand with trembling fingers.
"Please, Muffliato," I whisper, drawing a careful circle around us.
The air thickens slightly, creating an invisible barrier of white noise.
Mattheo emerges from behind the curtains, his face tense.
He sits back on my bed, closer now, and his shoulders relax as he feels the effects of the spell.
"That was close," he says, reaching for my hand again.
I let him take it, but keep glancing nervously at the door.
"I'm sorry," I whisper, sitting cross-legged on my bed.
"I didn't know you were coming."
Mattheo leans back against the headboard, his eyes fixed on the door.
"Jake patrols this corridor every night," I explain, remembering what Dean had told me earlier.
"He's worried about me."
Mattheo nods thoughtfully.
"We should meet in the Room of Requirement instead. It's more private."
I hesitate, thinking of the magical ring Jake and Dean gave me.
Would they be able to track my movements if I went to the Room of Requirement?
My fingers trace the silver band on my other hand, feeling its weight.
"Tomorrow night," Mattheo whispers, taking my other hand in his.
"After dinner."
Before I can answer, footsteps echo in the hallway again.
I pull my hand away from Mattheo's, staring at the ring in the dim light.
It's starting to feel warm against my skin, and I wonder if it's reacting to the proximity of Jake or Dean.
The silvery glow is stronger now, casting a faint light on the walls around us.
I twist the ring nervously, watching as unfamiliar letters appear along the inner band.
Mattheo reaches for it, but I pull my hand back instinctively.
Jake and Dean had looked so serious when they gave it to me, warning me never to let anyone else touch it.
