I met her in a dimly lit bar.
The night was quiet with very few patrons.
I noticed her the minute she walked in.
She was a vision of beauty.
Her smile was radiant as she spoke to the bartender.
He handed her a drink and she thanked him before taking a seat at the bar.
I couldn’t take my eyes off her.
I watched as she took a sip of her drink.
It was clearly alcohol, but I wasn’t sure what type.
Her hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall of gold.
I wondered what her name was and what had brought her to the bar that night.
Was she meeting someone or just out for a drink?
I had so many questions as I continued to stare at her.
"Can I get you another drink, sir?"
The bartender interrupted my thoughts.
"Um, yeah."
I thanked him when he slid me my drink.
My eyes never left her.
She was still sitting at the bar, but now she had her legs crossed.
I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful her legs were and how well they were shaped in her little black skirt.
I got up from my seat and approached her.
My heart was pounding in my chest.
I had never been so nervous around a woman before.
"May I buy you a drink?"
I asked, trying to sound casual.
She turned to face me, her eyes meeting mine for the first time.
There was a hint of curiosity in her eyes as she looked at me.
"Sure," she replied with a smooth voice.
"Thank you."
I ordered her another drink and waited for it to arrive.
When it did, I handed it to her.
"I’m Cameron," I said, extending my hand to her.
"Samantha," she replied, shaking my hand.
"It’s nice to meet you, Samantha."
I let go of her hand reluctantly.
It felt so soft and delicate in mine that I didn’t want to let go of it.
We talked for a while, getting to know one another.
She was smart and funny, making me laugh more than once with her witty remarks. As the night wore on, the bar started to empty out.
The bartender was wiping down the bar and preparing for closing when Samantha spoke up.
"Well, Cameron, it was nice meeting you. I’m going to head back to my hotel now."
I looked at her in shock.
She couldn’t be leaving already.
I hadn’t gotten enough time with her yet.
"Where are you staying?"
I asked her, hoping that maybe we could continue our conversation there.
"The hotel across the street," she replied with a smile on her face.
"Well then, let me walk you there. It’s not safe for a woman to be walking alone at this time of night."
"Okay," she agreed as she slid off the stool and stood up from the bar.
We walked across the street in silence as we approached the hotel lobby. "Well, thanks for walking me here. It was nice meeting you," she said as she turned to leave me at the lobby doors.
"You’re welcome. It was nice meeting you too. Maybe I’ll see you around sometime?"
I asked hopefully as I watched her walk away from me.
She stopped in her tracks and turned back around to face me.
"I’d like that," she replied with a smile on her face before turning and walking away again.
"Actually, Cameron, there's something I need to tell you," she said, her voice suddenly serious.
"I wasn't just at the bar by chance tonight; I was looking for you."
"For me? Why?" I asked, bewildered by her revelation.
"Because, I’m getting married tomorrow and I want to experience one last night of freedom before I do. Will you help me with that?"
Her words hung in the air, bold and daring.
I looked into her eyes, seeing both determination and vulnerability.
For a moment, I was speechless.
But as I looked at her, I knew what she needed.
I nodded slowly.
"Yes, Samantha. I’ll help you with that."
We walked through the lobby together, our footsteps echoing off the marble floors.
Her hand brushed against mine, a small yet significant touch that spoke of mutual understanding.
In the elevator, the tension between us was palpable, each floor passing like a countdown to a decision we both knew we would make.
