It was a beautiful San Francisco summer morning, the kind of day where I could already feel the heat rising off the sidewalks as I walked to my car.
I was getting married today.
To Kate.
My girlfriend of five years.
The woman I loved.
Everything about her captivated me.
From the first time I saw her, I knew she was different from every other woman I’d met.
She was beautiful, of course, with long, dark hair and a sweet smile.
But there was something more to her.
Something that drew me in.
Maybe it was the way she carried herself with confidence, or the way she looked at me with an air of mystery.
I didn’t know what it was, but I wanted to find out.
And so I pursued her.
And eventually won her heart.
And now we were getting married.
I felt a surge of happiness flow through me as I thought about our wedding.
The Wedding Crashers
It was going to be a beautiful day, surrounded by friends and family.
I couldn’t wait to see Kate walk down the aisle towards me, to take her hand in mine and promise to love and cherish her for the rest of our lives.
But as I drove to the church, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
I didn’t know what it was, but there was a nagging sense in the back of my mind that something wasn’t quite right.
I pushed the thought aside and focused on the road ahead of me.
I was being paranoid.
Everything was fine.
"Are you sure you're ready for this, Jack?" my best man, Tom, asked as he adjusted his tie in the passenger seat.
"Of course I am," I replied, trying to sound more confident than I felt.
"Then why did Kate call me last night, asking if you were having second thoughts?"
