I am a 25 year old soldier from England, I was playing Destiny 2 on stream yesterday and today I woke up in the game... I was so confused and still trying to get my head around it all when I saw a figure by the lake, it was a girl with glowing eyes and a weird hat on, she looked like she was trying to catch a fish with a bone and a hair tie as the lure... I watched in amusement as she failed time after time, until finally she caught one and screamed in delight.
I couldn't help but laugh at her reaction and she turned to look at me, startled.
"Hello," I said, waving at her.
"Hello," she replied, looking at me strangely.
"You're not from around here are you?" I asked.
"No," I said, "I'm not even sure where here is."
"You don't know where you are?"
She looked puzzled.
"I'm not even sure how I got here," I said.
"You don't remember?"
She tilted her head to the side.
"Not really."
I had no clue how I got into this game or what was happening, but it was exciting nonetheless.
"I can show you where you are if you want," she said.
"Ok," I said, still trying to get my head around everything.
As we walked along the edge of the lake, I noticed that there was no way across, unless we wanted to swim.
"Do you want to catch some fish?" she asked me.
I shook my head.
"No thanks."
As we reached the edge of the lake where there was no path, she stopped and looked at me.
The Warlock's Unwanted Retribution
"I'm not sure how to get across," she said, looking at the water's edge with uncertainty.
I thought about my Destiny 2 abilities and remembered the sparrow.
I reached into my inventory interface and was still amazed that it actually worked here.
I materialized my Timeswept Sparrow, its sleek frame hovering inches above the ground.
Lumine jumped back, her eyes wide.
"What is that?"
"It's called a sparrow," I said, mounting the vehicle.
"Need a ride?"
I patted the space behind me.
She hesitated for a moment before climbing on carefully.
The Warlock's Unwanted Retribution
I revved the engine, feeling her grip tighten around my waist as we accelerated smoothly over the lake's surface.
The Sparrow's engine hums as we glide across the lake's surface, water spraying in our wake.
Lumine's grip on my waist tightens when I accelerate, her excited gasps mingling with the wind.
I navigate around fallen logs and jutting rocks, showing off the Sparrow's agility.
The shore approaches - a grassy bank dotted with white flowers.
I ease off the throttle, angling our approach to avoid a cluster of boulders.
The Warlock's Unwanted Retribution
The Sparrow's anti-grav lifts kick in as we transition from water to land, settling us gently on the grass.
Lumine dismounts, her eyes still wide with awe.
"I've never seen anything like that," she says, brushing her hair back from her face.
"Well, there's a lot more where that came from," I reply, glancing at the horizon where the silhouette of a massive fortress looms.
