Glenn
The sun rises over the trees as Maggie and I walk side by side, holding hands.
We are approaching Alexandria – our new home.
I am excited to settle down after all these months of running and finding our way through the mess.
We have been through a lot – from Woodbury to Terminus and now this.
The prison was our home but we lost it.
We had to run to get away from the Governor and his people.
The prison was no longer safe for us.
We made our way to Terminus – a prison turned into a refugee camp – a safe haven for people to come and survive in while they look for their loved ones, but it was not safe for us.
We had to run again to escape the butcher and his crew.
Now we have a new home – a place to settle down and start over.
I am excited for Maggie and myself to have a new beginning.
We deserve it after all we have been through.
I look at Maggie as she smiles back at me.
She is beautiful and strong – a perfect match for me.
I love her more than words can express – more than any poem or love song can describe.
The Walking Dead
We approach the gates of Alexandria.
The guards are armed but they look relaxed.
They open the gates and we walk in.
The place is bustling with life – people walking around, kids playing, dogs running around.
Rick leads the way as we walk in.
He looks around, taking in every detail.
Maggie squeezes my hand as we walk in.
I look at her and smile back.
We are greeted by Deanna Monroe, the leader of Alexandria.
She is a kind woman who has welcomed us with open arms.
She is a leader who cares for her people and wants to help others survive in this new world.
She has a kind face and a warm smile – she reminds me of my mother.
The Walking Dead
She greets us and welcomes us to Alexandria.
She says that she hopes we will be happy here and that she is willing to help us in any way she can.
I look at Maggie and smile back at Deanna – I am excited to start over and make a new life for ourselves here. As we walk through the streets of Alexandria, I notice that everyone is staring at us.
They seem curious about who we are and what brought us here.
I see some of them whispering to each other as we walk by – I wonder what they are saying about us.
I look at Maggie and see that she notices it too – she gives me a reassuring smile as we continue walking.
Deanna leads us to a communal area where there are tables set up with food and drinks.
She invites us to sit down and tells us that she wants to hear our story – what brought us here and what happened before we arrived.
I look at Maggie before standing up to speak – I want to tell our story so that everyone knows who we are and what happened before we got here.
The Walking Dead
I finish telling our story and Deanna nods thoughtfully.
She says that she is glad we made it here safely and that she hopes we will be happy here.
She invites us to walk around and see what Alexandria has to offer.
She says that we can stay in the guest house for as long as we need to get settled.
We walk around the community, seeing all the neat houses and gardens.
It is a stark contrast to the chaos outside these walls.
Deanna explains that everyone contributes to the community – they have jobs based on their skills.
I think about what I could do – maybe help with supply runs or help fortify the defenses of the community.
Maggie listens intently, her hand still in mine.
Deanna explains that they have agriculture and education programs set up – people who work in these areas help feed and educate the people of Alexandria.
It sounds like a great way to live – stable and secure.
We stop at a bulletin board where there are job postings – different positions available in the community.
The Walking Dead
Maggie: "Look, Glenn, they need someone to help with the crops. I could do that."
Glenn: "And there's a spot for someone to help with the supply runs. I think that's where I can be useful."
Deanna: "Perfect, your skills will be invaluable here, and it seems like fate brought you both exactly where you're needed."
The Walking Dead
We continue our walk, the air feeling lighter and calmer.
It's almost as if we've left the chaos of the outside world behind.
As we approach a group of children playing, their laughter fills the air.
Maggie pauses, her gaze lingering on them for a moment before turning to me.
"You know, Glenn," she says thoughtfully, "you could become a city council member here."
I glance at her, surprised by her suggestion.
"Me? Making rules?"
I chuckle, but the idea lingers in my mind.
We reach the guest house, and I unlock the door.
The Walking Dead
The space is simple, but it's a welcome change from the chaos outside.
We unpack our few belongings, placing them in the empty drawers and closet.
The walls are bare, but the room feels like a sanctuary.
I watch Maggie as she carefully places a small photo of her family on the windowsill.
She's been through so much, yet she still holds onto memories of her past.
It's a testament to her resilience.
I walk over to her and gently touch her shoulder.
"Maggie," I say softly, "you'd be perfect for the council."
She turns to me, surprise evident on her face.
"Me?" she asks, her voice filled with doubt.
I nod, my eyes locked on hers.
"You're a natural leader, Maggie. You've shown compassion and strength throughout our journey. You'd be an asset to this community."
The Walking Dead
She smiles thoughtfully, considering my words.
Maggie: "I never saw myself as a leader, but maybe... maybe it's time to try."
Glenn: "You've got this, Maggie. And I'll be right here, supporting you every step of the way."
Deanna: "It's settled then. Let's talk more about it tomorrow; Alexandria could use someone like you on the council."
The Walking Dead
As night falls, the guest house becomes a sanctuary from the world outside.
I light a candle, casting a warm glow across the room.
Maggie sits beside me on the bed, her eyes reflecting the flickering light.
We talk about our plans for Alexandria, our hopes for the future.
Her hand finds mine, and I feel a familiar warmth spreading through me.
The conversation fades away, replaced by the quiet understanding between us.
I lean in, capturing her lips with mine.
The Walking Dead
The morning sun filters through the curtains, casting a warm glow on the room.
I wake up beside Maggie, feeling a sense of peace wash over me.
Today marks a new chapter for us in Alexandria.
We share a quiet breakfast, savoring the normalcy of it all.
As we finish, Maggie's nervousness about joining the council becomes apparent.
I reassure her, reminding her of her strength and resilience.
We make our way to the meeting hall, passing by the community gardens where people are tending to their plots.
Children play in the distance, their laughter carrying on the breeze.
The meeting hall is filled with familiar faces, each one representing a different aspect of Alexandria's life.
Deanna stands at the front, her eyes scanning the room before settling on Maggie.
She smiles warmly and gestures for Maggie to join her.
The room erupts in applause as Maggie takes her seat among the council members.
The Walking Dead
Pride swells within me as I watch her take on this new role.
Later that evening, we gather with friends to celebrate Maggie's induction into the council.
The Walking Dead
The morning sun casts a gentle glow over the fields of Alexandria.
As Maggie and I step outside, the crisp air fills our lungs.
We take a moment to breathe in the tranquility of our new surroundings.
The guest house, now empty, stands as a reminder of the journey that brought us here.
We make our way towards the community center, where Deanna awaits to discuss our responsibilities within the council.
Maggie's hand grips mine tightly, her determination evident in her grip.
As we enter the center, Deanna greets us with a warm smile.
She outlines our tasks: Maggie will oversee agricultural development, while I'll assist with supply logistics.
We nod in agreement, understanding the weight of our duties within this new community.
After the meeting, Maggie and I walk towards the fields that will soon flourish under her care.
The Walking Dead
As I walk towards the supply depot, the weight of responsibility settles on my shoulders.
The air is filled with the scent of fresh earth and blooming flowers, a stark contrast to the decay that lies beyond Alexandria's walls.
Daryl joins me, his crossbow slung over his shoulder, and we exchange a nod of understanding.
We discuss potential routes for our next supply run, considering both safety and efficiency.
As we map out our plan, Daryl's gaze drifts towards the horizon, ever vigilant for potential threats.
Together, we prepare for the challenges that lie ahead, knowing our survival depends on it.
The Walking Dead
As we finalize the details of our supply run, I notice Maggie approaching from the fields.
Her presence is a reminder of why we fight so hard to keep Alexandria safe.
She wipes her brow, a testament to the hard work she's been putting in to get the gardens up and running.
I excuse myself from Daryl and walk over to her, feeling the warmth of the sun on my back.
"Hey," I say, smiling down at her.
"Hey," she replies, smiling back.
"How was your meeting?"
"It went well. How about yours?"
"Good. We're making progress."
We stand there for a moment, enjoying the quiet satisfaction of knowing we're one step closer to rebuilding our lives.
In that moment, I realize we're not just surviving; we're truly living.
