Aakash

He is Tamanna's best friend and classmate at Delhi Public School. He is popular, athletic, and oblivious. Aakash is deeply entrenched in his social life, often prioritizing friendships over Tamanna's feelings. Despite being close to Tamanna, he remains unaware of her romantic feelings for him. His interactions with girls like Sakshi and Deepa highlight his social appeal and lack of understanding of Tamanna's emotions.

Deepa

She is a student at Delhi Public School and an acquaintance of Tamanna's. She is talkative, superficial, and insecure. I was sitting on the last bench of the class, observing people around me.
Aakash and his friends were laughing and joking around, while some girls were trying to get his attention by giggling and acting silly.
Sakshi was combing her hair, which was considered a rarity in our caste, as most of the girls from that community were bald or had very less hair on their heads.
She was trying to impress Aakash by smiling at him and acting as if she was the only girl present in the class.
Deepa was sitting in front of me, repeating whatever Sakshi had said earlier and trying to impress Aakash by seeking his approval for everything she said.
I wanted to puke on her face but controlled myself.
I was lost in my own world when I heard a voice calling me.
"Tamanna! Tamanna!!"
It was Akansha, my best friend along with Jyoti.
I turned around to see her waving at me and calling me out.
I got up from my seat and walked out of the classroom with her.
"What happened?"
I asked her as we walked towards our lockers.
"Nothing much. Just wanted to see you. How are you doing today?"
"I am fine, thanks!"
The Unwanted Twin
I leaned against my locker, looking at her as she started arranging her books.
Jyoti came running towards us from the other end of the corridor.
She was walking with a speed that I had never seen before.
Her usually neat and tidy uniform was a little disheveled, and she was holding her phone in her hand tightly.
Akansha also noticed it and straightened up to look at her.
The Unwanted Twin
The hallway was bustling with students heading to their next classes, creating a constant hum of chatter in the background.
As Jyoti got closer, I noticed that her eyes were wide open, but I couldn't tell if it was due to excitement or worry.
She reached us and looked around to make sure no one else was listening.
The way she positioned herself between Akansha and me, forming a tight circle, indicated that she had something important to share.
"Guys, come closer," she said in a low voice, holding out her phone for us to see.
I leaned closer to her, along with Akansha, and looked at the screen.
It was a text message from Amrita to Neeraj, asking him to meet her in the back corner of the library.
My stomach twisted into knots as I read it.
That was the same place where Amrita and her new group always huddled together, plotting their next move.
The sound of the school bell echoed through the hallway, signaling the end of another period.
Akansha picked up her water bottle from the floor and took a sip, while I stuffed my notebooks into my bag.
We all started walking down the empty corridors, our footsteps echoing off the walls.
The chemistry lab was on our right, and we could see some teachers gathered there, discussing something.
We continued walking until we reached the library entrance. Zahir was standing guard outside the door, his eyes fixed on his phone as he typed out a message.
The Unwanted Twin
The Unwanted Twin
He was probably warning Amrita and her friends that we were on our way there.
We ducked behind a bookshelf and peeked around it to see what was happening inside the library.
Amrita had pulled out her phone and was showing something to Lakshmi and Boni.
I nudge Akansha forward, whispering in her ear, "Go distract Zahir. Jyoti and I will slip inside."
Akansha nods and walks casually towards Zahir, who looks up as she approaches.
"Hey, have you done tomorrow's chemistry assignment?" she asks him with a practiced nonchalance.
Zahir turns to face her, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Not yet. Why?"
Akansha shrugs.
"I'm having some trouble with it. Can you help me later?"
Zahir nods, his gaze flickering between Akansha and the library door.
"Sure. I'll come over after school."
As they continue talking, Jyoti and I crouch low to the ground and edge past them through the library doors.
The Unwanted Twin
The Unwanted Twin
We duck behind the tall reference section shelves, inching our way closer to where Amrita sits with Lakshmi and Boni.
Their heads are bent over Amrita's phone, their voices hushed as they whisper intensely.
I strain to listen in, but their words are indistinguishable amidst the hum of the library's air conditioning.
Suddenly, Lakshmi stiffens and looks around suspiciously.
Crouching behind a thick encyclopedia, I slowly edge forward on my hands and knees.
The carpet scratches against my palms as I navigate around discarded backpacks and stray books.
Amrita's whispers become clearer - something about screenshots and messages.
My knee bumps a chair leg, making it scrape slightly against the floor.
Lakshmi whips her head around, scanning the area.
I freeze, pressing myself against the shelf.
A book wobbles precariously above me, threatening to tumble down.
My muscles strain from holding still as Lakshmi stands up, takes a few steps in my direction.
The book starts to tip forward.
"Did you hear that?" Lakshmi asks, her voice sharp with suspicion.
The Unwanted Twin
Amrita glances up, eyes narrowing. "Probably just the wind or something," she says dismissively, though her gaze lingers on the shelves.
Boni shifts nervously, whispering, "We can't risk anyone finding out about this. We need to be more careful."
The library intercom crackles with static, making me flinch.
Principal Sharma's voice booms through the speakers, announcing a mandatory assembly at the end of the day.
I barely register his words, too focused on the tense scene unfolding before me.
But I use the noise as cover to slide two feet closer to Amrita's group.
Lakshmi drops back into her seat, her attention diverted by the announcement.
Through a narrow gap between two books, I catch a glimpse of Amrita's phone screen tilted toward Boni.
My eyes widen as I realize what I'm seeing - private Instagram messages between Sakshi and Manjeet
Amrita's finger scrolls through more screenshots while Boni gasps softly.
The announcement ends, plunging the library into dangerous silence once again.
I glance at Jyoti, my heart racing. "Did you see that?" I whisper, barely audible.
The Unwanted Twin
Jyoti nods, her eyes wide. "We need to tell Aakash. He has no idea they're planning this."
I crawl a few inches closer, my elbow nudging a book that thuds softly against the shelf.
Lakshmi's head snaps up, her gaze sweeping the area.
I freeze, holding my breath as she stands up and takes cautious steps toward the sound.
The principal's voice over the intercom crackles again, distracting her.
Seizing the moment, I peek through the gap once more, confirming what I saw on Amrita's phone.
The Unwanted Twin
I turn to Jyoti, urgency in my voice. "We have to get out of here before they catch us."
Jyoti nods, glancing nervously at Amrita's group. "But how do we warn Aakash without tipping them off?"
I think quickly, whispering back, "We'll text him from outside and tell him to meet us by the science block."
