I stared at my reflection in the mirror and sighed.
I was petite, no doubt about that.
And I was skinny.
I had been told numerous times by modeling agencies that I was too small for them and that they only accepted models who were at least five feet eight inches tall.
I was only five feet two inches tall.
They said I needed to gain weight, but I was athletic and I didn’t want to lose my dream of becoming a professional athlete, so I couldn’t add any more weight.
I was perfect with my body the way it was.
I just wished the modeling agencies would see that.
"Okay, let’s get started," the photographer said as he walked into the room with his crew.
I nodded and smiled, feeling a surge of excitement run through me as I saw the model I would be posing with today.
She was taller and curvier than me, with athletic built and long legs, and I couldn’t help but feel a little intimidated.
I knew we were supposed to be friends and all that, but I couldn’t help but feel a little competitive when it came to modeling.
"Hello," the other model said with a smile as she came over to me.
"Hi," I replied, shaking her hand.
"I’m Mia."
"I’m Kaida," she replied, her eyes scanning my body.
We were both wearing bikinis; hers was blue and mine was pink.
"Okay, so what I want you to do is piggyback each other," the photographer said.
I hesitated for a moment, feeling a little self-conscious about my size compared to Kaida.
But she just smiled at me and nodded, so I agreed.
We walked over to the shallow end of the pool and I climbed onto Kaida’s back.
"Great," the photographer said.
"Now, I want you to look playful and carefree. Like you’re having fun."
Kaida laughed and started splashing water around, and I couldn’t help but giggle too.
We posed for several shots, with Kaida holding onto my legs and me holding onto her shoulders.
After a while, the photographer told us to switch roles, but I had a different idea.
"Can we do something else?"
The Underdog & The Superstar
I asked him.
"Sure," he replied, looking at me curiously.
"I was thinking we could do a piggyback pose where I’m carrying Kaida on my back," I said.
The photographer looked surprised, as did Kaida.
"You can do that?" he asked me.
I nodded and smiled confidently.
"Yes, of course," I said. The photographer shrugged and nodded, so we switched places and I lifted Kaida onto my back.
She was heavier than she looked, but I was able to hold her easily.
I had always been strong for my size, which was one of the reasons why I had been able to become an athlete in the first place.
"Wow, you're stronger than you look," Kaida said, her voice filled with admiration.
I set her down gently and turned to look at her.
"Would you like to be carried a different way?"
I asked her.
She looked at me curiously, but nodded.
We walked over to a quieter part of the waterpark, away from the cameras.
"I was thinking we could do a fireman's carry," I said.
"What’s that?"
Kaida asked, raising an eyebrow.
I smiled and explained it to her.
"A fireman's carry is a way of carrying someone where you lift them over your shoulder and hold onto their legs. It's a very popular way of carrying people, especially in emergency situations."

Kaida nodded, looking intrigued.
"Okay, let's try it," she said.
I smiled and carefully lifted her over my shoulder.
She laughed as I walked a few steps, her hands gripping my waist for balance. The photographer followed us, taking pictures as we went.
As I carried her towards the big water slide, I felt a sudden surge of playfulness and s###d her.
I immediately stopped and set her down, realizing that I had probably crossed a line.
But Kaida just laughed it off and told me that it was okay.
We paused for a moment near the entrance to the water slide, and I apologized again for my behavior.
Kaida smiled at me and told me that it was fine, and that she actually appreciated my boldness.
"Okay, let's try something different," I said as we walked towards the water slide.
"How about a princess carry?"
Kaida looked at me curiously.
"What's that?"
I smiled.
"It's a way of carrying someone where you lift them up in your arms and hold them like a princess. It's a very romantic way of carrying someone."
Kaida nodded, looking intrigued.
"Okay, let's do it," she said.
I carefully scooped her up in my arms, holding her close to my body.
She was heavier than she looked, but I was able to hold her easily.

We walked a few steps, and the photographer followed us, taking pictures as we went.
"You're really strong," Kaida said, looking impressed.
"Thanks," I replied with a smile.
We walked through the crowded waterpark, Kaida still in my arms.
Her wet bikini was dripping onto mine, and I could feel her body pressed against mine.
The photographer followed us, taking candid shots as we went.
As we approached the big water slide, I could see people staring and whispering to each other.
But I didn't care.
I was having fun, and that's all that mattered.
We reached the base of the water slide, and I carefully set Kaida down on the ground.
I adjusted my grip on her, making sure that I had a good hold of her before we started climbing up the stairs.
I put one arm under her knees and the other around her back, holding her close to my body.
Kaida wrapped her arms around my neck and giggled as I took the first step up the winding staircase. The metal steps were slippery from all the water, so I had to concentrate on each step as I climbed up.
Kaida was heavier than she looked, so it was a bit of a challenge to carry her up the stairs without falling.
As I carried her up the stairs, I could hear Kaida's laughter ringing in my ears.
Each step I took made me more aware of her body pressed against mine.
I adjusted my grip on her, feeling a pleasing sensation as I held her close to me.
Kaida's giggles continued to echo in my ears as we climbed higher and higher.
I couldn't help but smile as I heard her laughter.
We finally reached the top of the water slide, and I carefully set Kaida down on the ground.
She turned around to face me, still laughing, and I couldn't help but feel a rush of amusement mixed with something else.
"You're really something, Mia," Kaida said, catching her breath.
She was still laughing, and her eyes sparkled with excitement.
"Are you ready to go down?"
I asked her.
She nodded eagerly, and I sat down on the water slide.
Kaida sat behind me, wrapping her arms around my waist.
I could feel her breath on my neck as we pushed off from the starting point and began sliding down the water slide.
The rush of water enveloped us, and we both screamed with joy.
We sped down the slide, splashing into the pool below.
The Underdog & The Superstar
As we surfaced, Kaida turned to me with a mischievous grin.
"Okay, that's a wrap," the photographer said.
I turned to Kaida and asked, "Do you want me to carry you back to the changing room?"
She grinned and hopped onto my back.
As we walked, I could feel her arms around my neck and her laughter ringing in my ears.
We passed by other models and crew members, who looked at us with surprised expressions.
As we approached the changing room, Kaida on my back, she whispered in my ear, "Go on, s##k me, you know you want to."
I hesitated for a moment, but then I couldn't resist.
I gave her a playful s#t on the b#t.
She giggled and whispered again, "Do it again."
I couldn't help but laugh as I swatted her again.
I set her down gently as we reached the changing room, both of us still laughing.
We peeled off our wet swimsuits and changed into dry clothes.
I glanced at Kaida as she changed, admiring her athletic build.
She caught me looking and smiled, seeming to enjoy the attention.
"You're really confident, aren't you?"
I asked her.
"Of course," she replied, running a hand through her long hair.
"Why not? I'm beautiful."
I couldn't help but laugh at her boldness.
"I guess you're right," I said.
"You are beautiful."
"Thanks," she said, smiling at me.
"And you're really strong. I didn't think you could carry me like that."
I shrugged, feeling a little self-conscious about my body.
"I've always been strong," I said.
"But I'm not as pretty as you."
Kaida laughed again.
"Don't be silly," she said.
"You're beautiful in your own way. And besides, who needs to be pretty when you can be strong?"
I smiled at her, feeling a little better about myself.
The Underdog & The Superstar
"Thanks," I said.
We finished changing and packed up our things, chatting about the shoot and how much fun we had.
"So, how was the photoshoot yesterday?"
Sarah asked as we sat down at our usual table in the cafeteria.
I picked at my salad, trying to think of how to describe it.
"It was amazing," I said finally.
"I got to carry this really tall model named Kaida around and do all sorts of fun poses with her."
Sarah's eyes widened.
"How tall is she?"
I stood up and reached up over my head, showing her how tall Kaida was.
"Wow," Sarah said, her mouth dropping open.
"That's really tall. How did you carry her?"
The Underdog & The Superstar
I sat back down and grinned mischievously.
"Well, first I gave her a piggyback ride," I said.
"Then I carried her on my back like a fireman would. And after that, I carried her in my arms like a princess."
Sarah laughed.
"That sounds so fun," she said.
"Did you get to do anything else?"
I nodded, feeling a little embarrassed.
"After the shoot was over, we went to the water slide and went down together. And then we changed clothes together."
Sarah grinned at me, clearly amused by my obvious crush on Kaida.
"So, what was she like?" she asked.
I blushed and looked down at my salad.
"She was really nice," I said quietly.
"And she was really confident about her body. She told me that she thought she was beautiful."
Sarah laughed again.
"You're so obvious," she teased.
The Underdog & The Superstar
"You totally have a crush on her."
I threw a grape at her and glared.
After throwing the grape at her, I slumped back in my chair and looked down at my salad.
The cafeteria was buzzing with people, but I barely noticed.
I was too busy thinking about what I had just admitted to Sarah.
She stopped laughing and leaned forward, her expression softening.
"Hey, it's okay," she said gently.
"I'm not going to judge you."
I nodded slowly, still feeling a little vulnerable.
I picked up my fork and started tracing patterns in my leftover lunch.
"She was really beautiful," I said quietly.
"And she was so confident. She owned her height, her body, everything. She wasn't afraid to show off her smile."
The Underdog & The Superstar
I paused, remembering the way Kaida's body had felt against mine when I carried her.
My heart raced as I thought about it.
"She was really strong too," I said.
"I could feel it when I carried her. And when we went down the water slide together, she was laughing and screaming like a kid."
Sarah smiled at me, clearly happy that I had found someone who made me feel good about myself.
"That sounds amazing," she said softly.
"I'm so glad you got to experience that."
I nodded again, feeling a little better now that I had talked about it with Sarah.
"Are you going to tell her?"
Sarah asked after a moment of silence.
The Underdog & The Superstar
"I'm not sure," I replied, feeling the weight of uncertainty settle in.
I'm sitting at my desk doing homework when my phone buzzes with a text from my agent.
My heart skips a beat as I read the message: "We want to book another shoot with you and Kaida. The waterpark photos were a huge hit, and we think you two have great chemistry."
I can't help but smile as I read the message.
I've been thinking about Kaida nonstop since our last shoot together.
I remember how strong she felt in my arms, how her laughter echoed through the waterpark.
I get up from my desk and start pacing around my room, trying to decide what to do.
I want to text Kaida and tell her about the shoot, but I'm not sure if she'll be interested.
My fingers hover over the phone as I debate what to do.
Finally, I decide to call Sarah instead.
She answers on the first ring, and I can hear her excitement in her voice.
The Underdog & The Superstar
"Hey girl! What's up?"
"Guess what," I say, barely containing my enthusiasm.
"They want to book another shoot with me and Kaida!"
Sarah squeals through the speaker, and I can't help but laugh along with her.
"That's amazing! You two are so cute together."
I roll my eyes good-naturedly.
"Yeah, yeah. But seriously, what should I do? Should I text her?"
Sarah is silent for a moment before responding.
"I think this is your chance," she says softly.
"You should tell her how you feel." My heart skips a beat at her words.
The Underdog & The Superstar
Tell Kaida how I feel?
Is that really what I want to do?
Before I can respond, Sarah continues talking.
"You've been pining after her for weeks now. This is your chance to finally confess your feelings."
I meet Kaida at the beach for our next photoshoot.
We're both wearing bikinis, hers a deep blue and mine a bright pink.
The sun is shining down on us as we set up near the water's edge.
The sand feels warm between my toes as I walk along the shore.
Kaida smiles at me as I approach her, and I can't help but feel nervous.
I've been thinking about telling her how I feel all day, but now that I'm here, I'm not sure if I can go through with it.
"Hey," she says, reaching out to touch my arm.
"You look great."
I blush and look down at the sand.
"Thanks," I say quietly.
The Underdog & The Superstar
"So do you."
We stand there for a moment, looking out at the ocean.
The waves are crashing against the shore, creating a soothing sound that calms my nerves. "So, what do you want to do first?" she asks finally.
I shrug, trying to think of something clever to say.
"I don't know," I say finally.
"What do you think?"
She smiles at me again, and this time it's a little mischievous.
"How about we do something fun?" she suggests.
"Like what?"
I ask, curious despite myself.
She leans in close and whispers in my ear, "How about you lift me up like last time?"
I laugh and nod my head, feeling a little more at ease now that we're talking about work instead of feelings.
"Sure," I say, reaching out to grab her waist. She wraps her arms around my neck as I lift her up onto my shoulders.
She balances easily on top of me as we walk along the beach, the photographer snapping pictures of us from different angles.
As we walk, Kaida starts to giggle uncontrollably, and soon I'm laughing too.
The photographer stops us after a few minutes and tells us to pose for some still shots.
We stand there smiling at each other as he snaps away with his camera.
After a few minutes of posing, Kaida suggests that we take a break and sit down on the sand for a while.
I agree and lower her back down to the ground before sitting down next to her. We sit there in silence for a moment, watching the waves roll in from the ocean.
Then Kaida turns to me and smiles again.
The Underdog & The Superstar
"You know what?" she says softly.
"I really like working with you."
