Zombie apocalipse group of teen boys survivor.
Ethan Scott
and determined. Ethan struggles to come to terms with the new world and the loss of his loved ones. He forms a close bond with a group of survivors, including his best friend Cale and a mysterious girl named Sarah. Together, they navigate through treacherous landscapes, avoiding zombies and trying to reach a supposed safe zone.
Cale
and loyal. Cale brings essential skills like hunting and fixing equipment, which helps the group survive. He's haunted by the loss of his own family but remains focused on reaching a safe zone. Cale's friendship with Ethan is a source of comfort and strength amidst the chaos. He stands by Ethan through thick and thin, never wavering in his commitment to their group.
Dwight
and quickwitted. Dwight brings humor through awkward situations but also valuable knowledge from his cult background. His weight provides an unexpected advantage in certain situations, allowing him to use it as a defensive strategy against zombies. His nervous demeanor often causes tension but becomes less noticeable as he finds camaraderie within the group.
I never imagined I’d be the one to survive them all.
My mom, my dad, my little sister.
I’d always thought I’d be the one to die first.
Either from a broken heart or … well, from being killed.
Not that I wanted to die.
But if I were being honest with myself, I had never been popular or … or anything special.
And now, here I was, walking through the desert with my childhood best friend Cale, and Sarah, some girl we’d rescued earlier today.
She’d been taking down a zombie with a shovel when we’d come across her.
No idea who she was or where she came from, but she was welcome to join us as long as she didn’t put us in danger.
So far, she hadn’t.
In fact, none of them had.
It was nice to have company after being alone for so long.
Nice to have people talk to and share the responsibilities with.
It was also nice to have someone cook and fix equipment.
Cale had always been handy with stuff like that, and Sarah had surprised us by knowing how to garden and cook.
We headed toward a dilapidated gas station.
The faded sign creaked in the wind, and the windows were all broken, but the metal security shutters were still intact.
Sarah pointed to a delivery truck parked in the lot.
It looked like it had been there for some time, but it might provide us with some shelter.
Cale checked the perimeter of the building and surrounding area for any signs of immediate danger.
Sarah and I followed him into the store, where we found shelves stocked with expired snacks and warm sodas.
The air inside was musty and stale, but at least it provided some protection from the elements.
I forced open the back door using a crowbar from my pack and found a small office.
We arranged our sleeping bags on the floor, positioning ourselves so we could see both entrance points.
Sarah discovered a stack of road maps behind the counter that might come in handy if we needed to navigate unfamiliar territory.
Cale glanced at the maps and then at Sarah, his voice low. "You know, these maps might lead us to that rumored safe zone everyone's been whispering about."
Sarah hesitated, her eyes flickering with a mix of hope and doubt. "But what if it's just another trap, like the last place we tried?"
I looked between them, feeling the weight of their words. "We can't stay here forever; it's a risk we have to take."
I spread the maps across the store counter, while Cale sorted through our supplies.
Sarah stood guard by the window, her fingers drumming against the shovel handle.
The maps revealed three possible routes to the safe zone coordinates - a mountain pass, a long stretch of highway, or backroads through small towns.
Each route had its dangers and advantages.
I traced the mountain route with my finger, remembering the hunting trips I'd gone on with Dad when I was younger.
The terrain would slow zombies down, but supplies might be scarce.
Cale pointed out a sporting goods store along the highway route, suggesting it could be a good place to scavenge for gear.
Sarah interrupted our planning, gesturing urgently at something outside.
