"What are we supposed to do with these bodies?"
Jay asked me, and I could hear the slightest hint of desperation in his voice.
I looked at him and smiled, trying to appear as nonthreatened as possible by his question.
But there was no denying it; both of us had grown excessively tall and muscular since we left home for college.
It was almost as if we had both been affected by some form of magic, because there was no way whatsoever that we could have looked the way we did now just a year ago when we were still in high school.
We were both males and best friends, and as far as I could tell, we had both grown in almost the same exact mannerisms.
We were huge, not to mention spectacularly handsome, and I knew that it wasn’t just my own biased perspective saying that.
The Two Big Guys
I leaned against the wall in our dorm room, watching as Jay flexed experimentally in front of the full-length mirror.
At first, his movements were hesitant, but as he raised his arms and saw how the fabric of his shirt stretched across his broad shoulders, he seemed to grow more confident.
I stepped up to stand beside him, and our reflections towered in the mirror.
We stood shoulder to shoulder, both of us over six and a half feet tall now.
Jay ran a hand through his dark hair, chuckling as he had to reach up higher than before to do so.
The Two Big Guys
I mimicked his motion, and our eyes met in the mirror.
Without needing to say a word, we both struck the same casual pose, shoulders back and chests out.
I stepped a little closer to Jay, and our reflections merged in the small dorm mirror.
He raised his arm to flex his bicep, and I mirrored him instinctively.
Both of our muscles strained against the fabric of our sleeves, the material stretching so tightly that it seemed like it might tear at any moment.
Jay turned sideways, and I did the same, admiring the sharp lines of his profile.
His head almost brushed the top of the doorframe, and he chuckled softly.
"Remember when we could barely reach the top shelf?"
He reached up to touch the ceiling, and I did the same.
Our massive frames cast long shadows across the room, and our fingers touched the ceiling at exactly the same moment.
"Do you think it's connected to that night in the woods?" Jay asked, his voice suddenly serious.
I hesitated, then nodded slowly.
The Two Big Guys
"Yeah, I think whatever we encountered out there changed us, and maybe those bodies are just the beginning."
