The guardian of the moon is very angry, because he can't have children and his brother gave birth to a child, Cecil Aijima, chosen as the next guardian of the moon
Syo Kururu
loyal, and kindhearted. Syo was trained from a young age to take over his role as the guardian of the sun, and he takes his duties seriously. He lives in the Bright Sun Castle with his twin brother, Kururu. When his brother is kidnapped, Syo is left with a deep sense of loss. Despite being reunited with his brother, he struggles with the trauma of the event and the weight of his responsibilities.
Cecil Aijima
coldhearted, and enigmatic. Cecil was once Syo's intern and held a special position as his brother. However, he was exiled to the Dark Moon Castle after attempting to usurp power from Syo. Now, he works under Syo's rule but resents him deeply. Cecil's true nature reveals itself through his cruel behavior and desire for revenge against Syo and his family.
Kururu
witty, and charismatic. Kururu was also trained as a guardian, but he never enjoyed being confined to such a serious role. He longed for freedom and adventure beyond the castle walls. When kidnapped by Syo's interns, Kururu is taken to the Dark Moon Castle. The strange atmosphere and people there affect him, and he begins questioning his past and identity after being forced to work under Cecil Aijima.
The "Bright Sun castle" is an elegant place.
The garden is made of white Greek-like pillars and water.
It reflects the rays of the sun and shines bright until the sun is up.
That's why it's called the "Bright Sun Castle".
The dominant color is white, pure, clean.
It's where the royal family lives and from whom the king has the duty to summon the sun each morning.
He is called the "guardian of the sun".
He watches over his people and loves them all.
Only a reliable king can be a "guardian of the sun", ready to sacrifice himself for his people's wellbeing.
The interns are bright and colorful, like me.
There are golden decorations, large spaces, many rooms...
The most important is the council room.
There, the members of the council meet and make important decisions.
The king has the last word, always.
On the floor, the blue sky is reflected, this way they can see anything that happens there and act quickly before something bad happens.
I was trained to become a guardian of the sun since I was a child, together with my twin brother Kururu.
We are Syo Kururu and Kururu, twins born in this world with a special destiny.
We have a special mark on our palms that signifies our birth and destiny as guardians of this world.
In the council room, the light is soft and warm.
We are sitting on the marble steps that lead to father's throne.
Kururu and I are holding our hands side by side, looking at the identical spiral marks etched into our palms since birth.
The afternoon sun streams through the tall windows, casting long shadows across the reflected sky beneath our feet.
Kururu traces his mark with a finger, then reaches to touch mine - something we haven't done since we were children.
The contact sends a familiar warmth through my arm, reminding me of all the training sessions we shared together.
Suddenly, we hear the sound of a guard's footsteps echoing in the hallway.
The council doors swing open, and everything we know is about to change.
The footsteps grow louder, and the guard, Otoya, bursts through the doors.
His usual composure is gone, replaced by visible distress.
Kururu and I quickly stand, our hands separating as the warmth fades.
"Young masters," Otoya pants, bowing hastily.
"The council demands your immediate presence. All members are gathering."
I exchange a worried glance with Kururu - emergency meetings like this are rare, especially ones requiring our presence.
The guard's eyes dart between us and then fix on the floor's sky reflection, where dark clouds have begun gathering in the magical mirror surface.
Kururu's voice is steady, but there's a tremor beneath it. "Otoya, what has happened? Why are the skies darkening?"
Otoya hesitates, his eyes flickering with uncertainty. "The sun... it refuses to rise tomorrow unless the true guardian is revealed."
I feel a chill run down my spine as I grasp Kururu's hand again. "But we both bear the mark. How can there be only one true guardian?"
I pull Kururu behind a white pillar before Otoya can escort us to the council chamber.
The afternoon light catches the tears welling in my brother's eyes as we both extend our marked palms toward each other.
"Tell us what these really mean," I demand, stepping forward to block Otoya's path.
The guard shifts uncomfortably, his ceremonial armor creaking.
"The council has known since your birth," he admits quietly.
"One mark is genuine, passed down through generations. The other..."
He reaches out hesitantly to touch my palm, but I jerk away.
My fingers dig into Otoya's sleeve, dragging him into the alcove behind the white pillars.
Kururu follows silently, his palm still pressed against mine.
Otoya tries to pull away, but I slam him against the wall, my forearm pressed across his chest.
"Tell me everything," I demand, my voice low and steady.
Otoya's eyes dart between us before fixing on the floor.
"The ritual was performed by your father himself," he explains, his voice trembling.
"At your birth, he split his guardian mark into two parts. It was an ancient ritual, meant to protect the true heir from those who would seek to claim the power for themselves."
I feel Kururu's grip tighten around my hand as Otoya continues.
"But now, the time has come for the true guardian to be revealed," Otoya says, his voice barely above a whisper.
Kururu's eyes widen, and he looks at me with a mix of fear and determination. "We have to find out who it is before the council decides for us."
I press Kururu behind me as a dark figure emerges from behind the council room pillars.
The stranger's black cloak ripples against the marble floor, disrupting the sky reflection beneath our feet.
When they speak of knowing the truth, Otoya draws his sword, but the figure raises both hands, revealing identical spiral marks on each palm.
My heart pounds as I recognize those marks - they match ours perfectly.
Kururu steps forward despite my attempt to hold him back, extending his marked palm toward the stranger.
"Who are you?" Kururu demands, his voice echoing in the vast chamber.
The stranger lowers their hood, revealing familiar eyes that mirror our own.
"I am the keeper of balance," they reply softly, "and the time has come for the guardian's choice."
My fingers tremble around Otoya's sword hilt as I level the blade at the keeper's throat.
The stranger doesn't flinch, those familiar eyes studying me with unsettling calm.
Behind me, Kururu's breath catches as I press the sword tip closer, demanding to know how they obtained marks identical to ours.
The keeper raises their marked palms slowly, and I notice a faint glow emanating from their spiral patterns - different from the steady warmth of my own mark.
I lower the sword slightly, my gaze fixed on the keeper's pulsing marks.
The light casts strange shadows across their face, which bears an uncanny resemblance to both Kururu's and mine.
My brother's question hangs in the air as the keeper circles us slowly, their black cloak brushing against the marble floor.
"Only one twin can ascend as guardian," they explain, their voice low and mysterious.
"The other must be banished to Dark Moon Castle."
The keeper reaches out to grasp our hands, to test our marks and determine our fates.
I instinctively step between them and Kururu, but my brother pushes past me.
Kururu clasps the keeper's hand, and the chamber fills with a blinding light that seals our destinies.
I stumble back as the light between Kururu and the keeper intensifies, casting harsh shadows across the council room floor.
My brother's face contorts in pain while their connected palms pulse with energy.
I lunge forward to break their grip, but Otoya's armor is cold against my struggling form.
The keeper begins chanting in an ancient language, each word making the sky reflection beneath us ripple and darken.
Kururu's eyes meet mine, filled with determination despite his obvious suffering.
When he tries to speak, only a choked gasp escapes.
The light fades, leaving Kururu alone on the marble floor, his mark now a solitary glow.
I rush to his side, cradling his head in my lap.
As I shift him, my knee scrapes against an odd groove in the floor.
Curiosity gets the better of me, and I use my sleeve to wipe away centuries of dust from the stone.
Intricate writing is carved into the marble, partially hidden by the magical sky reflection above.
The ancient text speaks of the keeper as a cursed guardian who refused to choose between twins, splitting their own mark in defiance.
Their punishment was eternal service as the chooser of heirs.
When I look up, the keeper's face has changed - now bearing scars that match the grooves in the floor.
