My name is Madison Bright.
I have a crush on this boy named Caden Harley.
He is about 5 feet and he is black, but he is light skin.
He has brown beautiful eyes and a nice haircut.
He is kind of popular because all the girls in school like him.
Well, he's not the only one I like.
I like his twin Jayden Harley.
He's the talkative and funny one.
My birthday is April 21, 1999, and Caden's birthday is September 23, 1999, just like Jayden.
I'm a Taurus, Libra for both Jayden and Caden, and they are Libras.
My best friend Jasmine Thompson knows I like him.
She knows how much I like him, but I don't know if I should go talk to him or not.
What if he says no or rejects me?
What if he laughs at me?
What if he doesn't like me?
What if another girl he likes comes along and steals him away from me?
What if I get hurt or get my heart broken?
What if I say something or do something wrong?
What if he doesn't like brown girls or black girls or light skin girls?
What if I'm not his type?

During lunch, Jasmine and I sit at our usual table in the cafeteria.
The cafeteria is always loud and busy, but we like it.
Jasmine nudges me with her elbow.
"Now's the perfect time to go talk to him," she whispers.
I look around the cafeteria and see Caden sitting at a table with his twin brother Jayden.
They are laughing and talking with their friends.
My heart starts beating fast.
I'm not sure if I should go talk to him or not.
I'm scared of what he might say or do.
But then again, I'm tired of being shy and quiet.
I want to be more outgoing and talkative like Jasmine.
I want to be more confident in myself and my abilities.
The Twin Brothers
So, I take a deep breath and stand up from my seat.
I smooth out my skirt nervously and look at Jasmine for encouragement.
She gives me a nod of approval and mouths "good luck" to me. I weave through the tables in the cafeteria, trying not to bump into anyone or spill anything on myself.
Each step feels heavier than the last as I make my way over to Caden's table.
When I finally reach him, I tap him lightly on the shoulder.
He turns around and looks at me with his beautiful brown eyes.
"Hey, Madison," he says with a smile on his face.
The Twin Brothers
I smile back at him and try to think of something to say.
But before I can speak, he turns back around and starts talking to his friends again.
I stand there for a few seconds, feeling awkward and unsure of what to do next.
Then I turn around and walk away, feeling a little disappointed and rejected.
Jasmine is waiting for me at our table with a big smile on her face.
"How did it go?" she asks excitedly.
I shake my head and sit down in my seat.
"It didn't go well," I tell her.
"I'm sorry," she says, putting her hand on my arm.
"Don't worry, there will be other opportunities."
I nod my head in agreement and try to focus on eating my lunch.
But my mind keeps wandering back to Caden and what could have been. The hallway is bustling with students rushing to their next class.
The Twin Brothers
The sound of lockers opening and closing echoes through the air, punctuated by the occasional laugh or shout from a group of friends.
I'm walking down the hallway when I hear a voice calling out my name.
"Madison!"
I turn around to see Caden Harley standing behind me with a smile on his face.
He's wearing his usual outfit of jeans and a t-shirt, but today he has a black hoodie over his shoulder.
His hair is pulled back into a ponytail, showing off his beautiful brown eyes.
"Hey," I say, trying to sound casual as I walk over to him.
"I was hoping you'd come over," he says, gesturing to the group of friends standing nearby.
My heart skips a beat as I realize what he's saying.
He wants me to hang out with him and his friends.
I nod my head nervously and take another step closer to him. Jasmine gives me a thumbs-up from behind, her eyes sparkling with encouragement.
I take a deep breath and try to relax as I join the group of students gathered around Caden.
They're all laughing and talking about something, but they fall silent when they see me approaching.
Caden smiles at me again, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he introduces me to his friends.
"This is Madison," he says, gesturing to me with his hand.
"We have a few classes together."
The group of students nods in greeting, but no one says anything else.
I stand there awkwardly for a few seconds, feeling like an outsider among their circle of friends.
"Hey, Madison," Jayden says, breaking the silence with his usual playful grin.
"So, are you the one who keeps beating Caden in math class?"
Caden chuckles, nudging his brother. "Yeah, she's the genius who makes me look bad."
The Twin Brothers
The group of students laughs at his joke, and I feel a little more at ease.
I smile back at Jayden, feeling grateful for his attempt to make me feel more comfortable.
"Hey, Jayden," I say, turning my attention to him.
"I'm not that good. Caden's just not trying hard enough."
Caden chuckles again, shaking his head with amusement.
"Maybe you can give me some tips sometime," he says.
"I could use a little help."
I nod my head, smiling at him.
"Sure, anytime."
The group of students starts talking again, laughing and joking with each other.
I stand there for a few minutes, feeling a little more comfortable in their presence.
Then Jasmine nudges me gently on the shoulder, reminding me of her earlier advice.
The Twin Brothers
I take a deep breath and try to focus on the conversation around me. "So, Caden," I say, turning my attention to him with a smile on my face.
"Are you ready for the math test tomorrow?"
Caden chuckles softly, looking down at the floor with a shy grin on his face.
"Yeah, I think so," he says.
"But I could use some tips from the math champion."
I grin back at him, feeling a spark of connection between us.
"Well, maybe we can study together after school," I suggest, trying to sound casual.
Jayden raises an eyebrow and smirks. "Ooh, a study date? Caden, you better not mess this up."
Caden laughs and nods. "I'll try my best, but no promises with this math genius around."
