The Truth About Him

Scenario:Tucker has had to cut Promise out of his life so many times due to their differences, the trauma & the hardships they've been through. It's caused us to fight so many times & say hurtful things out of pure anger, that we split apart. No matter, how bad we hurt each other we always come back together because it hurts so much worse to be apart. Most would say we're committed to a toxic relationship especially if you're an outsider looking in at our relationship, but we aren't we care so much it destroys us. Even if we try to just relax & take it easy we can't, it's painful for us to be together even worse for us to be apart. We aren't toxic far from it we're just hard-headed, stubborn, hurting, misunderstood by most, & blind to the truth whatever that may be.

I had to cut her out of my life so many times it wasn’t even funny.
Not a single time was actually doing it out of anger.
I mean, we’ve both said some shit to each other when we were pissed pissing each other off.
We both said shit to hurt the other one.
It was bound to happen.
We were two people that were complete opposites, and it was hard for us to ever be on the same page.
It sucked because we both cared about each other so damn much, but we just weren’t meant to be.
It was like we were poison to each other, and no matter how much we actually loved each other we just couldn’t seem to make it work no matter how damn hard we tried.
It was like the love we had for each other wasn’t enough to make up for all of our differences.
It actually hurt so damn bad when we were apart from each other, and it actually hurt even worse when we were together.
I know it sounds stupid, but it’s the damn truth.
It actually hurt so damn bad when I had to do it, and it always seemed like I had to do it for her.
The Truth About Him
I sat on the edge of my bed, phone in hand, staring at her number.
My thumb hovered over the call button, hesitating.
The room was silent except for the ticking of the clock on my wall, each second making it harder to make the decision.
Finally, I pressed it, bringing the phone to my ear.
It rang once, twice, and then her voice came through.
"Tucker?" she asked, cautious.
I took a deep breath, trying to keep my voice steady.
"Promise, can we talk?"
There was a pause, and I could almost hear her thinking.
"Yeah," she replied softly.
"We need to."
I nodded even though she couldn’t see me.
The Truth About Him
"Let’s meet at the park tomorrow."
The Truth About Him
"Okay," she said, her voice still cautious.
"Tomorrow then."
I nodded again, even though she couldn’t see me.
"Tomorrow," I repeated.
I hung up the phone and sat there for a minute, trying to process everything that was going on in my head.
I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I had to do it.
I had to try.
The next morning, I woke up before the sun was even fully up, the crisp air biting at my skin as I stepped outside.
I walked to the park, the silence of the early morning surrounding me like a blanket.
I got there early, pacing near the swings as I tried to rehearse what I wanted to say.
Miles appeared out of nowhere, his calm presence a welcome distraction from my nerves.
"You look like you’re about to face a firing squad," he chuckled, clapping a hand on my shoulder.
The Truth About Him
I sighed, glancing down the path where Promise would soon appear.
"Just don’t want to mess this up again," I admitted. Miles nodded thoughtfully.
"Just be honest, Tucker. She deserves that."
Promise arrived a few minutes later, her eyes searching mine as she approached.
"Hey," she said softly, her voice carrying the weight of our history.
I took a deep breath, feeling the gravity of the moment.
"Promise, I need to tell you why I kept pushing you away."
The Truth About Him
She stood before me, her eyes a mix of comfort and tension.
I took another breath, the words heavy in my chest.
"I’ve been scared," I said, my voice steady but low.
"Scared of losing you, scared of hurting you again."
Her eyes softened slightly, but she remained silent.
I continued, my voice filled with emotion.
"I know I’ve pushed you away too many times. I’m sorry for all the pain I’ve caused."
She shifted her stance, crossing her arms defensively.
I stepped closer, my heart pounding in my chest.
"But I can't keep running from this anymore."
The Truth About Him
As I stood there, the park around us faded away, leaving only the two of us.
Her eyes searched mine, looking for sincerity.
I took another breath, feeling the chill of the morning air.
"I want to be better for you, Promise," I said, my voice steady but hopeful.
Her expression softened slightly, but doubt lingered.
"We’ve been here before, Tucker," she replied, her voice cautious.
I nodded, acknowledging our past mistakes.
"I know," I said quietly, "but I’m willing to change."
She hesitated for a moment, then uncrossed her arms.
"How do I know this time is different?" she asked, vulnerability peeking through her guarded tone.
I met her gaze, my voice firm with conviction.
"Because this time, I'm not just saying it—I’m ready to prove it."
The Truth About Him
I reached out, gently taking her hand.
"Let me show you, Promise. Please."
Her fingers trembled slightly in mine, a testament to the uncertainty that still lingered between us.
She nodded, her eyes searching mine for the truth.
We walked slowly along the park path, the early morning sun casting long shadows on the ground.
As we strolled, I shared my plans to attend therapy, to confront the demons of my past and learn how to handle our conflicts better.
She listened intently, her grip on my hand tightening with each step.
"Therapy?" she asked, a hint of surprise in her voice.
"Yeah," I replied, squeezing her hand gently. "I want to do this right, for both of us."
Her eyes softened, and she nodded slowly.
The Truth About Him
"I want to believe you, Tucker," she said, her voice filled with a mix of hope and skepticism.
"Are you really ready for this?"
I nodded, determination burning within me.
"I am," I replied, my voice steady and resolute.
"Let’s take it one step at a time," she suggested softly, leaning slightly into me.
I squeezed her hand once more, grateful for the chance to prove myself anew.
The Truth About Him
As we continued our walk, the park's quietness enveloped us, each step echoing the path we were choosing together.
The old oak tree loomed ahead, its branches swaying gently in the morning breeze.
I paused, turning to Promise with a deep breath.
Her eyes met mine, filled with a mix of hope and trepidation.
"I love you," I whispered, the words hanging in the air between us.
Her eyes widened slightly, and she nodded, a small smile breaking through her guarded expression.
"I love you too," she replied softly, her voice filled with cautious optimism.
We stood there for a moment, the silence between us speaking volumes.
"Do you think we can really make it work this time?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I believe we can," I replied, my heart pounding with sincerity. "But only if we both want it enough to fight for it."
She looked at me, a flicker of determination in her eyes.
The Truth About Him
"I want it," she said, her voice firm.
"And I know you do too."
I smiled, feeling a sense of hope wash over me.
"Then let’s make it happen," I whispered, my voice filled with conviction.
We stood there for a moment, our hands intertwined, the morning sun casting a warm glow around us.
The old oak tree loomed behind us, its branches swaying softly in the breeze.
As we walked further, the silence between us grew thicker.
Promise’s grip on my hand tightened, as if she feared letting go would mean losing me once again.
"Promise," I said gently, breaking the silence that had settled between us.
She turned to face me, her eyes filled with a mix of uncertainty and longing.
"What is it?" she asked softly.
I took a deep breath, searching for the right words to ease her worries.
The Truth About Him
"I just wanted you to know that I love you," I replied slowly.
"And I’m committed to making this work. But I need you to trust me."
Her gaze locked onto mine, her eyes searching for sincerity.
"I want to trust you," she said softly, her voice laced with vulnerability.
"But it’s hard when we’ve been hurt so much."
"I know," I replied, my voice filled with understanding.
"But we can’t let our past define our future. We have to learn from it and move forward."
She nodded slightly, her expression a mix of determination and trepidation. "I love you too," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
"But I’m scared."
I squeezed her hand gently.
"I am too," I admitted honestly.
"But if we face our fears together, we can overcome anything."
She looked at me, her eyes searching for reassurance.
"Are you sure?"
I nodded firmly.
"I am."
We stood there for a moment, the silence between us filled with unspoken promises and the weight of our shared history.
"Let’s take things one step at a time then," she said finally, her voice filled with determination.
I smiled softly in agreement.
"One step at a time," I echoed, squeezing her hand once more before we continued our walk through the park’s winding paths.
As we walked further into the heart of the park, the silence between us grew heavier.
