I opened the door to my house and was shocked to find a baby lying on my doorstep.
She was a newborn, wrapped in a blanket and surrounded by a few clothes and diapers.
There was a note next to her that read, "Please take care of me. I am your daughter."
I was taken aback by this sudden discovery.
I had never considered having a child before, and I certainly didn't expect to find one on my doorstep.
But as I looked down at the baby, I couldn't deny the feeling of stoic softness that filled my heart.
I picked her up, cradled her in my arms, and took her inside.
As captain of the Survey Corps, I didn't know much about taking care of a baby.
But as I held her in my arms, I felt a sense of determination wash over me.
I would do whatever it took to care for this child and ensure her survival in a world plagued by Titans.
Over the next few days, I learned how to change diapers, feed, and bathe the baby.
I named her Alina and did my best to provide for her needs.
As the days turned into weeks, I grew more and more attached to her.
She became my daily focal point, the reason I got up in the morning.
And as I held her in my arms and watched her smile up at me, I realized that I had never felt such happiness before.

Now, as I sat at my desk late at night, I could see Alina sleeping in her makeshift crib.
The scratching of my pen on paper filled the silence as I wrote two separate letters, one addressed to Erwin Smith and the other to Hange Zoë.
My hand trembled slightly as I admitted that I needed help.
It wasn't easy for me to ask for assistance, but I knew that it was necessary if I was going to properly care for Alina.
I detailed how I was struggling to keep up with her feeding schedule and how she refused to settle down unless I held her.
The military reports scattered across my desk served as a reminder of my duties and the dangers that lay beyond the walls of our settlement.
But as I looked over at Alina, all of those concerns seemed to fade away.
She was my top priority now, and I would do whatever it took to protect and provide for her. With a final flourish, I folded the letters and sealed them with wax.
I placed them in my jacket pocket, where they would remain until morning when I would deliver them to Erwin and Hange.
As I stood up and stretched, the sound of Alina's soft breathing filled the room.

It was a gentle reminder that even in a world fraught with danger, there was still beauty and joy to be found.
And for me, that beauty and joy were embodied in the tiny baby girl who lay sleeping in her crib.
I smiled down at her before turning off the lamp and heading off to bed myself.
Tomorrow, I would face the world anew, fortified by the quiet strength of fatherhood.
The piercing wail cut through my sleep, and I bolted upright in bed.
Instinctively, I reached for my blades before I realized that it was just Alina's cry.
I stumbled through the darkness to her crib and lifted her tiny form into my arms.
Instantly, her sobs softened as she nestled into my embrace.
I padded into the kitchen, still half asleep, and prepared a bottle one-handed while bouncing her on my hip.
The Titan's Child
The water heated slowly on the stove as I paced the floor, whispering what I hoped were soothing words into Alina's ear.
When the bottle was ready, I settled into the wooden chair by the window and cradled her close to my chest.
As dawn broke, I knew that this was the beginning of a new chapter in both our lives.
I sat in the wooden rocking chair, cradling Alina against my chest as she finished her bottle.
Her tiny fingers grasped the fabric of my shirt, and her eyelids grew heavy.
The empty bottle slipped from her mouth, and I shifted her to my shoulder, patting her back until she let out a small burp.
The first rays of sunlight crept through the window, casting long shadows across the floor.
I continued rocking, humming a quiet tune that I remembered from my own childhood.

Her breathing slowed and deepened, each gentle motion of the chair nudging her closer to sleep.
The door creaked open, and Hange's voice broke the morning silence.
"Levi, I got your letter," she said softly, stepping into the room with a rare seriousness in her eyes.
"Erwin and I have been discussing it, and there's something you need to know about Alina's origins."
I nodded, motioning for Hange to sit as I continued to cradle Alina in my arms.
She pulled up a wooden chair, her usual bounce and energy tempered by an uncharacteristic hesitation.
She removed her glasses, slowly cleaning them with her shirt while gathering her thoughts.
When she spoke, her voice was barely above a whisper, careful not to disturb the sleeping infant in my arms.
"From what we've pieced together, it seems that Alina's mother was a spy from Marley. She infiltrated our walls and gained access to sensitive information. The military intelligence division intercepted some communications that suggested she had become pregnant with a child fathered by one of our own soldiers."
My grip on Alina tightened reflexively, a protective instinct rising within me.
Hange continued, "It's believed that when her handlers discovered she was pregnant, they ordered her to return to Marley. But she refused, knowing that they would likely kill the child. She went into hiding here, using her skills to evade capture. Eventually, she found a safehouse on the outskirts of town and gave birth there. Tragically, she died shortly after from complications."
I felt a pang in my chest at the thought of Alina's mother giving her life for her daughter's safety.
"She was found by one of our patrols," Hange went on, "and they brought the baby back here. But when they realized who she was connected to, they were too afraid to keep her. So they left her on your doorstep." I tightened my grip on Alina again, feeling a surge of anger at those who had abandoned this innocent child.
But as I looked down at her sleeping form, I knew that I would do everything in my power to protect and love her.

Hange pulled out a folder from her bag and opened it.
Inside were detailed reports about Alina's mother and the events surrounding her birth.
I took the folder from Hange and set it on the table beside me.
"I appreciate your honesty," I said softly.
"I know this wasn't an easy thing for you to share."
Hange nodded solemnly.
"We wanted you to know the truth about your daughter's past. But Levi, you have to understand that this is still a sensitive matter. We don't want anyone else to find out about Alina's connection to Marley."
I nodded again, understanding the gravity of the situation.
"I'll be careful," I promised.
Hange leaned forward, her eyes searching mine.
The Titan's Child
"There's more, Levi," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Erwin believes Alina might have inherited some... unique abilities from her mother."
