It was the summer break and my two friends, Lucas and Tom, and I decided to go on a vacation.
We rented a car and drove to a place quite far away from our hometown.
After a few days of traveling, we finally reached our destination.
However, when we were about to enter the village we planned to stay in for our vacation, the car suddenly broke down.
We were unable to move it forward anymore.
"What the hell is going on here?"
Lucas asked as he got out of the car to check the engine.
"This is bad. We can't fix it here," Tom said as he looked around.
"We are in the middle of nowhere."
I got out of the car and looked around, hoping that I could see some houses or buildings so that we could ask someone for help.
But there were only trees and hills in my sight.
"Let's walk back to the main road and see if we can find any help," Tom suggested.
We nodded in agreement and started walking back to the main road.
As we walked, I suddenly smelled something weird.
I don't know what it was, but it definitely smelled like smoke.
"Guys, do you smell that?"
I asked my friends.
They looked at each other and then back at me.
"No," Lucas replied.
"What do you smell?"
"I smell something like smoke."
I looked around but I couldn't see any smoke or fire.
The Three Men And The Virgin
"Let's go this way and see where it leads us," I said as I led them towards the direction of the smoke smell.
They followed me without any hesitation.
As we walked, the smell became stronger and stronger.
It was definitely smoke, but we still couldn't see any fire or smoke.
We continued walking for about fifteen minutes until we reached a point where we had to push through some dense undergrowth.
The branches of the trees and bushes scratched our arms and legs, but we didn't care.
We just wanted to find out what was causing the smoke smell.
After pushing through the undergrowth for a few minutes, we finally saw some thin wisps of gray smoke rising above the treeline.
"Look! There's smoke!"
I exclaimed as I pointed towards the smoke.
The Three Men And The Virgin
Lucas and Tom looked in the direction I was pointing and they too saw the smoke.
"Let's go back," Tom said as he turned around to walk back to the main road.
"We can't just leave. We have to check it out," I said as I grabbed his arm and stopped him from leaving.
"We don't know what that is. It could be dangerous," Lucas said as he looked at me with concern in his eyes.
"I know, but we have to check it out. We can't just leave without knowing what it is."
They both nodded in agreement and followed me towards the source of the smoke. As we got closer to the source of the smoke, we realized that it was coming from a small cottage that was nestled against the hillside.
The cottage was surrounded by trees and bushes, and there was a small stream running nearby.
We approached the cottage cautiously, not knowing who or what could be inside.
As we got closer, we noticed that there was a small garden in front of the cottage, with a few vegetables and herbs growing in it.
We also noticed that there were no windows on the cottage, only a small wooden door that was slightly ajar.
I slowly pushed open the door and peeked inside.
The interior of the cottage was dark and musty, with cobwebs hanging from the ceiling.
There was a small fireplace in one corner of the room, with ashes scattered all over the floor.
It looked like someone had been living here recently, but there was no sign of anyone now. "Hello? Is anyone here?"
I called out into the darkness of the cottage.
The Three Men And The Virgin
There was no response, so I stepped inside and looked around more closely.
A single photograph lay on the dusty table, its edges charred and curling.
Following the charred photograph's discovery, I led Tom and Lucas away from the cottage and back into the forest.
The smoke trail continued beyond the hillside, suggesting that there were more settlements ahead.
We climbed up a steep slope, our shoes slipping on loose rocks and wet leaves.
As we neared the crest of the hill, we caught sight of a cluster of buildings nestled in the valley below.
The houses were arranged in a neat grid, with gardens and orchards surrounding them.
Smoke drifted lazily from the chimneys, carrying the scent of wood fires and roasting meat.
We crept closer, trying not to be seen as we observed the settlement from behind a screen of trees.
Something seemed odd about this place.
At first, I couldn't put my finger on it, but then it dawned on me - there were no men in sight.
Only women and children moved through the streets and gardens. "Do you see that?"
The Three Men And The Virgin
I whispered to Tom and Lucas.
"Where are all the men?"
Lucas asked, his brow furrowed with confusion.
"Maybe they're all out hunting or something," Tom suggested.
But as we watched, a young mother emerged from one of the houses with a basket of laundry in her arms.
She hung it on a line strung between two trees, her child playing at her feet.
As she worked, she glanced up and saw us hiding behind the trees.
Her eyes widened in surprise, and she quickly gathered her child into her arms.
Then she turned and ran back into the house, leaving her laundry to blow in the wind.
A few moments later, more women emerged from their homes, their faces filled with curiosity and wariness.
They gathered in small groups, talking among themselves and glancing up at us every now and then. "I don't like this," Lucas whispered to me as we watched the women below us.
"Let's get out of here before things get weird."
But it was too late for that.
One of the women had already spotted us, and now they were all staring up at us with a mixture of fascination and suspicion. A tall woman with graying hair stepped forward from the crowd and began to climb up towards us.
"Who are you, and what do you want here?" she called out, her voice steady and commanding.
The Three Men And The Virgin
"We're just travelers," I replied, trying to sound as non-threatening as possible. "Our car broke down, and we followed the smoke hoping to find help."
Her eyes softened slightly, but her stance remained firm. "This is no place for outsiders. You must leave before nightfall."
Despite her warning, I took a step forward and explained our situation in more detail.
"Our car broke down on the main road, and we had to walk for hours to get here. We're exhausted and hungry. We don't want to cause any trouble, but we need a place to rest for the night."
The gray-haired woman studied us for a moment, her eyes narrowing as she sized us up.
Then she turned and spoke to the other women in a language that sounded like a mix of ancient dialects.
They whispered among themselves, their voices rising and falling in a soothing cadence.
A younger woman with a baby in her arms stepped forward and spoke quietly to the gray-haired woman.
The elder's expression softened further, and she nodded slowly.
"Very well," she said finally, turning back to us.
"You may stay for one night, but you must leave before dawn tomorrow. Follow me." With that, she turned and began walking down the hill towards the village.
We followed her in silence, unsure of what to expect.
The Three Men And The Virgin
As we walked through the village, women and children scurried out of our way, pulling curtains closed behind them.
The air was filled with the scent of cooking meat and freshly baked bread, making our stomachs growl with hunger.
The gray-haired woman led us to three separate houses, each with a different host family waiting inside.
She introduced us briefly before leaving us in their care.
"Why are they so afraid of us?" Lucas asked as we settled into the small, dimly lit room.
The Three Men And The Virgin
Tom shrugged, glancing at the door where our host had just disappeared. "Maybe it's not us they're afraid of—maybe it's something else."
I nodded, a sense of unease settling over me. "Whatever it is, we need to find out before morning."
Olivia led me through the small cottage, pointing out various rooms and features.
The walls were adorned with handmade tapestries depicting strange symbols and patterns that I didn't recognize.
As we walked, a small boy with big brown eyes peeked out from behind doorways, watching us curiously before darting away again.
I guessed he was around five years old.
We eventually reached the kitchen, where Olivia had prepared a simple but hearty meal of stew and bread.
She gestured for me to sit down at the table and served me a steaming bowl of food.
As I ate, she watched intently, her eyes following every movement of my spoon.
The little boy crept closer, his curiosity getting the better of him.
He stood just behind Olivia's skirt, peeking out occasionally to stare at me.
After a while, he grew bolder and began to inch closer, fascinated by this strange new person in their home. "What's your name?" he asked in a small voice as he tugged on my sleeve.
The Three Men And The Virgin
"His name is Connor," Olivia said firmly, pulling him back towards her.
"Now be quiet and let our guest eat."
Connor looked disappointed but obediently retreated behind his mother's skirt once again.
I finished my meal quickly, feeling grateful for the warm food and hospitality despite the initial wariness of the villagers.
As I pushed my bowl away, Olivia cleared the table and began busying herself with cleaning up.
I noticed that she seemed nervous now, glancing at me occasionally as if unsure what to make of me.
"Thank you for the food," I said to break the silence.
"It was delicious."
She smiled briefly before returning to her work. "So," I ventured cautiously, "what's going on in this village? Why are there no men here?"
Olivia stopped what she was doing and turned to face me, her expression guarded.
"I'm sorry," I said quickly, realizing that I might have overstepped some boundary.
"I didn't mean to pry."
But she just shook her head and resumed cleaning up without answering my question.
I sensed that there was something important going on here, something that they didn't want outsiders to know about.
I decided not to push the issue further for now and instead asked if I could see more of the village later. "Of course," she replied distractedly as she put away dishes in a cabinet.
The Three Men And The Virgin
"But first, let me show you where you'll be sleeping."
After showing me to a small bedroom with handmade quilts on the bed, Olivia disappeared for a moment before returning with a stack of fresh clothes in her arms.
"These should fit you," she said, handing me the pile.
"Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to show you something else."
I followed her back through the cottage and into a small room that seemed to be some sort of playroom.
Connor was sitting on the floor playing with blocks, completely absorbed in his game.
Olivia smiled at him before turning to me.
"This is Connor," she said proudly.
"He's our youngest son."
I nodded politely, not wanting to intrude on their family moment.
But then she surprised me by asking if I wanted to join them for a game of hide-and-seek.
"Sure," I agreed hesitantly, unsure what to expect.
The Three Men And The Virgin
She led us both out of the room and into the hallway, closing the door behind us.
"Okay," she said, looking at me seriously.
"You have to count to ten while we hide. Then you come find us."
I nodded, feeling a little silly but willing to play along.
She gave me a nod before disappearing down the hall with Connor in tow. I closed my eyes and started counting slowly, trying not to listen for any sounds that might give away their hiding spot.
When I reached ten, I opened my eyes and set off down the hallway searching for them.
As I walked, I heard faint giggles coming from one of the rooms ahead of me.
I approached cautiously, not wanting to scare them away before I could find them.
When I reached the doorway, I saw Connor hiding behind a curtain, his face pressed against the wall as he tried to stifle his laughter.
Olivia stood nearby watching me intently, her arms crossed over her chest as she waited for me to find them both.
I stepped inside and knelt down next to Connor, gently pulling back the curtain so he could see me better.
"There you are!" he exclaimed happily as soon as he realized that I had found him. "Good job," Olivia said approvingly as she came over to join us.
"Now let's go get some milk and cookies."
She led us back into the kitchen where she had prepared a tray with glasses of cold milk and a plate of homemade cookies.
We sat down at the table together while she poured each of us a glass and handed out cookies.
The Three Men And The Virgin
As we ate and drank, Olivia kept glancing over at me occasionally as if checking to make sure that I was enjoying myself too.
After we finished eating, she took our plates away and washed them up in the sink while Connor climbed onto her lap again.
"Would you like to see my toy cars?" he asked excitedly as he leaned forward to look at me.
I smiled and nodded, curious about what he had in mind.
He jumped off her lap and ran over to a nearby shelf where he kept his toys.
He pulled out a small box filled with tiny plastic cars and brought it back to the table.
Then he sat down next to me and began pulling out individual cars one by one, lining them up carefully on the surface in front of us.
"Here's my favorite," he said proudly as he held up a red sports car.
"It goes really fast!"
He proceeded to demonstrate by pushing the car across the table, making engine noises as it went.
As I watched him play, I noticed that there were several framed photographs hanging on the wall behind him.
They appeared to be pictures of Connor taken at different ages, ranging from infancy to his current age of five. But something seemed off about the timeline depicted in these photos.
The Three Men And The Virgin
It looked like there was a gap between two of them, as if some years had been skipped over entirely.
I pointed this out to Olivia, who was standing nearby watching us play together.
She frowned slightly before answering my question.
"Oh, those? They're just old family photos. Don't pay any attention to them."
But I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more going on here than met the eye.
I decided not to press the issue further for now and instead asked if I could see more of their home.
Olivia agreed and led me upstairs to show me around while Connor continued playing with his toy cars downstairs.
As we walked through each room, she explained various details about how they lived here and what daily life was like for her family. By the time evening rolled around, I found myself sitting at Olivia's kitchen table again with Connor perched on a chair next to me.
The boy's energy levels seemed endless as he raced his toy cars across the wooden surface, making engine noises with each lap he completed.
Meanwhile, Olivia busied herself chopping vegetables at the counter while preparing dinner for us all.
I glanced up at the photographs hanging on the wall once more, noticing that one of them appeared older than the others.
It showed a young couple standing together holding hands; they both wore formal clothing from another era altogether.
"Who's that in the picture?" I asked, gesturing towards the photograph.
Olivia paused, her knife hovering above a carrot. "That's my grandparents," she replied softly, her voice tinged with nostalgia.
"But they disappeared long ago, just like all the other men in this village."
The Three Men And The Virgin
While Connor continued playing with his toy cars on the kitchen floor, I noticed that my hands looked smaller and pudgier than usual.
I glanced over at Olivia, who was watching me intently from her chair.
She had insisted earlier that I drink a strange-smelling tea before joining them for dinner.
At first, I had hesitated, but she assured me it would help me relax after such a long journey.
Now, as I sat there sipping the warm liquid, I began to feel a strange sensation spreading throughout my body.
It started in my fingers and toes before gradually moving up towards my head.
As the feeling intensified, I realized that something was happening to me - but what?
Suddenly, I heard Connor giggle loudly behind me.
When I turned around to see what he found so funny, I noticed that his toy cars appeared larger than they had just moments ago. "What's going on?" I asked aloud, confused by this sudden change in perspective.
But before anyone could respond, I felt myself being pulled backwards into the chair.
The Three Men And The Virgin
Olivia quickly set down her knife and rushed over to catch me as I fell.
"Are you okay?" she asked worriedly, supporting my weight with her arms.
I tried to speak but found that my voice sounded higher and younger than normal.
"I...I don't know," I stammered weakly, struggling to regain control of my body.
Connor clapped his hands excitedly and exclaimed, "Look! He's getting smaller!"
I glanced down at my hands again and saw that they were indeed shrinking rapidly now.
My clothes hung loosely around me as if they belonged to someone else entirely. Panic set in as I realized that whatever was happening to me must be related to the tea Olivia had given me earlier.
But why would she do such a thing?
And how could I stop it before it went any further?
As these thoughts raced through my mind, I felt myself becoming weaker and more disoriented by the second.
My vision blurred slightly around the edges as if everything was shifting out of focus before my eyes. "Olivia," I managed to whisper hoarsely, reaching out towards her desperately with one hand.
"Please...help me."
She knelt down next to me and gently took hold of both my wrists in hers.
"Don't worry," she said softly, her voice filled with maternal concern.
"You'll be fine soon enough."
The Three Men And The Virgin
Her words hung in the air as I slipped into darkness, leaving behind the last remnants of who I once was.
I drifted in and out of consciousness, vaguely aware of my body feeling lighter and smaller with each passing moment.
Through blurry vision, I saw Olivia lifting me up onto a changing table in the nursery.
She moved quickly but carefully, undressing me and replacing my adult clothes with soft fabric that felt gentle against my sensitive skin.
As she worked, she hummed softly to herself, her movements practiced and confident as if she had done this many times before.
I tried to protest weakly but could only manage weak babbles that sounded like those of a helpless infant.
Connor stood watching from the doorway, clutching his red toy car tightly in his small fist.
When Olivia finished dressing me, she lifted me up gently to check her handiwork in the mirror hanging on the wall nearby.
That was when I saw myself for the first time - a chubby-cheeked toddler wearing blue overalls and clutching a stuffed rabbit tightly in my arms. My hands shook as I reached out towards my reflection, barely able to comprehend what had happened to me.
How could I have become so young again?
And why did Olivia seem so calm about it all?
The Three Men And The Virgin
The Three Men And The Virgin
As these questions swirled through my mind, I heard Connor's excited voice behind us exclaiming, "He looks just like me!"
Olivia smiled warmly at him before turning back to face me once more.
"Yes," she agreed softly.
"He certainly does."
I sat on a plush rug in the playroom, my small hands fumbling with wooden blocks as Connor showed me how to stack them.
The blocks felt huge compared to my toddler-sized fingers, and I struggled to maintain my balance while sitting cross-legged on the floor.
Connor grabbed his red sports car and zoomed it between our block towers, making engine noises as it went.
"Come on, brother," he said excitedly, holding out a blue car for me to take.
"Let's race!"
The Three Men And The Virgin
I hesitated at first, unsure of what to do next.
But then Connor demonstrated by pushing his car across the carpet with one hand while crawling along behind it.
His movements were fluid and natural, as if he had been doing this for years already. My adult mind screamed in protest at the idea of crawling like an infant again, but somehow my body seemed to know exactly what to do.
Before I could stop myself, I found myself mimicking Connor's actions - crawling forward on all fours while pushing the toy car ahead of me.
I pushed my blue car alongside Connor's red one, following the makeshift racetrack we had created with our blocks.
The cars zoomed past cushions and under chair legs as Connor continued making engine noises for both of them.
My adult mind tried to resist at first, but my small hands gripped the toy tightly and moved it along the floor as if on autopilot.
As we crawled faster and faster, I felt myself getting lost in the simple pleasure of playing with these toy cars.
Suddenly, Connor's car crashed into mine, sending both vehicles spinning across the rug.
The Three Men And The Virgin
An unexpected giggle escaped from my throat at this sudden turn of events - a high-pitched sound that surprised even me. I glanced over at Connor, who grinned mischievously before crashing his car into mine once again.
While Connor and I continued crashing our toy cars together, I heard a gentle voice calling from the doorway behind us.
"Boys, it's time for your bath," Olivia announced softly.
Connor immediately jumped up onto his feet and began running towards the bathroom, calling out excitedly, "Bath time! Bath time!"
My adult mind protested at the idea of getting into a tub filled with water, but my toddler body instinctively followed after him without hesitation.
Olivia came over to help me stand up on my unsteady legs before guiding me towards the bathroom with Connor leading the way.
As we entered the room, I could see steam rising from the large tub that had already been filled with warm water.
Connor climbed up onto the edge of the tub and peered down at the surface excitedly, while I hung back uncertainly. My small feet seemed to move of their own accord as I backed away slowly from the tub, trying to escape this unfamiliar situation.
But before I could get very far, my feet slipped on the smooth tile floor and sent me tumbling backwards onto my bottom.
Olivia quickly caught me by the arm and lifted me up again, cradling me in her arms as if I were no heavier than a feather.
I struggled weakly against her grasp, but she simply smiled down at me before setting me gently next to Connor on the edge of the tub.
The Three Men And The Virgin
Connor looked over at me with wide eyes and exclaimed, "Look! My bath toys!"
Olivia chuckled softly, reaching into a basket to pull out a colorful array of floating toys.
"Yes, Connor," she said, handing him a bright yellow duck.
Turning to me, she added with a knowing smile, "And I think you'll find this quite fun too."
While Connor made his duck dive and splash in the water, I watched in fascination as Olivia placed a variety of other toys into the tub.
There were colorful fish, a rubber octopus, and even a small wooden boat that bobbed gently on the surface.
My adult mind knew that I shouldn't be interested in these childish things, but my small hands seemed to twitch with growing curiosity.
Connor noticed me staring at the toys and grinned mischievously before pushing the wooden boat closer to me.
I tried to resist at first, but somehow my arm moved of its own accord - stretching out towards the toy's blue and white hull.
The Three Men And The Virgin
Olivia lifted us out of the cooling bathwater and wrapped me in a fluffy yellow towel while Connor got a matching blue one.
She dried Connor first, ruffling his hair with the towel until he giggled.
Then she turned her attention to me, trying to wrap the towel around my small body.
I tried to step back from her, but my legs were still weak from the bath and I stumbled backwards.
Olivia caught me before I could fall, gently patting me dry with the towel despite my squirming protests.
The Three Men And The Virgin
After we were both dry, Olivia carried us into the nursery and laid us down on the changing table.
I watched helplessly as she removed my wet clothes and powdered my skin before sliding soft dinosaur pajamas over my small limbs.
As I lay there in the comfort of my new pajamas, Connor snuggled up beside me, and for a moment, the world felt perfectly simple.
I follow Olivia down the hallway, my dinosaur pajamas rustling softly with each wobbly step.
She leads Connor to his room first, helping him climb into bed before kissing his forehead gently.
Then she reaches out for my small hand, but I try pulling away - only to stumble over my own unsteady toddler legs.
Olivia scoops me up easily, cradling me in her arms as if I were no heavier than a feather.
We pass by a wooden door with "Connor" painted in red letters before reaching another room just down the hall.
This one has "Nick" written in bold blue letters, and as Olivia carries me inside, I catch a glimpse of a race car bed with guardrails on either side.
The walls are adorned with colorful posters of cars and trucks, and there's even a nightlight that casts star shapes across the ceiling.
"Why do I have to sleep here?" I asked, my voice small and uncertain.
Olivia paused, her eyes softening as she looked at me.
"Because this is your room now, Nick," she replied gently, "and we're going to make it feel just like home."
The Three Men And The Virgin
I stare at the red race car sheets, my eyes fixed on the tiny racing stripes that dance across the fabric.
Olivia gently lays me down on the mattress, and my toddler body feels heavy with exhaustion.
It's hard to resist as she lifts my legs under the covers and pulls the blanket up to my chin.
The guardrails tower around me like a cage, and I can't help but feel a little trapped.
But as Olivia smooths my hair with her hand, I feel my small body relax into the mattress.
The Three Men And The Virgin
My thumb drifts unconsciously towards my mouth, and I watch in fascination as the star nightlight casts moving shadows on the wall.
Olivia hums a gentle lullaby, her voice soothing and familiar.
As my eyes fluttered shut, the last thing I heard was the soft click of the door closing behind her.
I wake up to the feeling of coldness seeping through my pajamas and into my skin.
My sheets are wet, and I can feel the dampness spreading across the mattress.
The sensation jolts my adult mind awake, but my toddler body responds differently.
Tears prick at the corners of my eyes as I try to move, only to find that my legs are heavy and uncoordinated.
I try to climb out of the race car bed, but the guardrails block my way.
Sitting in the middle of the wet sheets, I sob uncontrollably.
The door opens, and a sliver of light cuts through the darkness.
Olivia enters, her eyes half-lidded with sleep.
She flips on the light switch, and suddenly the room is bathed in a warm glow.
Her expression changes from sleepy to concerned as she sees me sitting in the middle of the wet sheets. "Nick?" she says softly, her voice filled with confusion.
The Three Men And The Virgin
I clutch at my dinosaur pajamas with small fists, unable to stop crying.
Olivia moves towards me cautiously, reaching out a hand to touch my shoulder.
Through my tears, I feel her hands lifting me from the wet bed.
My legs dangle helplessly in the air as she carries me to the changing table.
My wet pajamas cling to my skin uncomfortably, and I try to protest but all that comes out are hiccupping sobs.
Olivia lays me down on the padded surface of the changing table, and I feel my small body shudder against the cool air.
She quickly removes my soaked dinosaur pajamas and begins cleaning me with warm wipes.
The Three Men And The Virgin
I watch through teary eyes as she efficiently changes my diaper and wipes away the remnants of my accident.
When she reaches for a fresh set of clothes in a nearby drawer, I catch sight of Connor standing in the doorway, clutching his red toy car tightly in his small fist.
"Is Nick okay?" he asks, his voice filled with concern.
Olivia nods, smiling softly.
"He's fine, Connor. Just had an accident."
Connor nods solemnly, his eyes fixed on me as I lay there in my fresh clothes.
I can feel the softness of my new pajamas against my skin, and it's a welcome relief after the cold dampness of before.
Olivia finishes dressing me and lifts me from the changing table.
I feel her arms wrap around me securely as she carries me to the living room.
Connor follows close behind, his toy car clutched tightly in his hand.
We settle onto the couch together, Olivia sitting with me on her lap and Connor pressed against her other side.
She picks up a picture book from the coffee table and begins reading it to us.
The story is about animals, and I watch with wide eyes as Olivia points to each colorful illustration.
The Three Men And The Virgin
My small fingers reach out to touch the pictures, tracing the shapes of the animals with fascination. As Olivia reads, I feel myself becoming more and more relaxed in her presence.
The warmth of her body seeps into mine, and her gentle voice soothes my frazzled nerves.
It's hard to resist the comfort of her arms around me, even though my adult mind is still reeling from this strange new reality.
When she finishes reading the book, Olivia sets it aside and pulls Connor into a hug.
I watch as she kisses his forehead gently, and my body instinctively leans closer to her.
My arms reach up without my conscious control, wrapping themselves around her neck in a tight embrace.
The word slips out before I can stop it - "Mama."
Olivia freezes for a moment, her eyes widening in surprise.
Connor looks up at her, his expression curious.
"Did he just call you 'Mama'?" Connor asks, tilting his head slightly.
Olivia nods slowly, her eyes still fixed on me.
"Yes, he did."
Connor grins, his face lighting up with excitement.
"Nick called you 'Mama'!"
I nestle deeper into Olivia's lap, my small body moving instinctively while my mind races with confusion.
The soft fabric of her dress brushes against my cheek as she adjusts me in her arms.
Connor scoots closer on the couch, holding out his toy car for me to see.
My hand reaches out to touch it without my conscious control.
When Olivia strokes my hair gently, my eyes grow heavy.
I try fighting the urge to rest my head against her shoulder, but I can't resist the comfort of her presence.
The Three Men And The Virgin
The gentle rise and fall of her breathing lulls me into a drowsy state.
Connor looks up at Olivia, his voice a whisper.
"Does that mean he's staying with us forever?"
Olivia hesitates, her gaze softening as she looks at me.
I drift between sleep and wakefulness, my small body heavy with exhaustion.
Through half-closed eyes, I watch as Connor places his red car next to me on Olivia's lap.
The room feels warm and hazy, the edges of my vision blurring together.
My thumb finds its way to my mouth again, a comforting habit that I can't resist.
I try fighting the drowsiness that washes over me, but my toddler body surrenders to the comfort of Olivia's arms.
Connor tugs at Olivia's sleeve, asking her something in a voice too low for me to hear.
My eyelids droop lower, and I feel Olivia shift me slightly in her arms, cradling me closer against her chest.
"Yes, Connor," Olivia finally replies, her voice soft and reassuring.
"He's staying with us."
Connor beams, his eyes shining with joy.
The Three Men And The Virgin
I squirm uncomfortably in my race car bed, my small body shifting restlessly against the soft sheets.
The pressure in my bladder grows more insistent with each passing moment, and I know I can't hold it much longer.
My toddler brain struggles to comprehend the urgency of the situation, but my body knows what it needs.
I need to go pee.
But as I try to climb out of the bed, I realize that I'm trapped.
The guardrails on either side of the mattress are too high for me to reach over, and my little legs can't push me up high enough to clear them.
Panic starts to rise inside me as I struggle to find a way out.
I call out for Olivia, my voice a desperate cry in the darkness of the room.
"Mama!"
I hear footsteps approaching, and then Olivia's face appears above me, her expression concerned.
The Three Men And The Virgin
"What's wrong, Nick?" she asks softly.
"I... need..."
My face flushes with embarrassment as I try to explain my predicament.
I don't know how to say it without sounding like a baby, but I can't hold it any longer. "I need to go pee," I stammer finally, feeling a wave of shame wash over me.
Olivia nods understandingly, reaching down to lift me from the bed.
She carries me effortlessly in her arms, and I feel a surge of relief as she sets me down in front of the toilet.
But as I stand there staring at the porcelain bowl, I realize that there's another problem - I can't reach.
The toilet seat is too high for my small body to climb onto, and even if I could manage it somehow, there's no way I could aim properly or balance myself without falling off.
Tears prick at the corners of my eyes as frustration washes over me.
I hate feeling so helpless and dependent on others for something as basic as using the bathroom.
The Three Men And The Virgin
Olivia stands behind me patiently, waiting for me to figure it out on my own.
I grip the toilet seat with my small hands, my legs dangling in the air as I try to hoist myself up.
The porcelain feels cold and huge beneath me, and I wobble uncertainly on my unsteady toddler legs.
My body tenses up, refusing to relax despite the urgent need to let go.
Olivia places a gentle hand on my back, rubbing in slow circles as she murmurs softly that it's okay to let go.
Connor peeks his head around the corner from the hallway, watching curiously with his red car clutched tightly in his small fist.
I grip the toilet seat tighter, my small legs trembling from the effort of holding myself up.
Olivia notices my struggle and gently lifts me, adjusting my position on the toilet seat so that I'm more secure.
Her hands steady my sides as I whimper in embarrassment.
Connor stands in the doorway, clutching his red car and watching with wide eyes.
The porcelain feels cold against my bare skin, and the height of the toilet makes me feel dizzy.
My body tenses up even more, refusing to let go despite the urgent need to pee.
After what feels like an eternity, I finally relax, letting go as my toddler body surrenders to its needs.
Connor steps closer, his voice full of curiosity.
"Why can't you do it by yourself, Nick?"
Olivia glances at him, her tone gentle yet firm.
The Three Men And The Virgin
"He's still learning, Connor, just like you did."
I sit tensely on the toilet, my small body rigid with concentration.
Olivia begins humming a gentle tune, her hands supporting my sides as I try to relax.
The sound is familiar, reminding me of a lullaby that she sings to me at night.
My muscles slowly unwind as the melody washes over me, calming my racing heart.
Connor joins in from the doorway, his small voice humming along with Olivia's.
The Three Men And The Virgin
He sways his red car back and forth in time with the music, watching me curiously.
My adult mind resists the idea of being soothed by a simple tune, but my toddler body responds instinctively.
The tension eases from my shoulders as I lean back against Olivia's steadying hands.
I exhale deeply, feeling a sense of accomplishment as the last drops fall.
I sit on my bed while Olivia picks out my clothes for the day.
She chooses a pair of tiny jeans and a red t-shirt with trucks on it.
I watch as she lays them out on the bed, her movements efficient and practiced.
She turns to me, lifting my arms above my head to pull off my pajama top.
My small body follows her movements automatically, my head ducking down as she slides the shirt off.
Connor bounces into the room, his own outfit matching mine.
He holds up his shirt, showing me the trucks printed on it.
"See, Nick? We're wearing the same thing!"
Olivia smiles, nodding in approval.
"Yes, you boys are going to be quite the pair today."
The Three Men And The Virgin
She turns to me, her hands moving quickly to change my diaper.
I lie there passively, my small body still unaccustomed to such intimate care.
Connor watches curiously from the side of the bed, his eyes wide with fascination. "We're going to go to the park today," Olivia says, glancing at Connor with a smile.
"Emme from next door is coming too."
Connor cheers excitedly, bouncing up and down on the bed.
The Three Men And The Virgin
I try to protest, but all that comes out is a soft whimper.
My adult mind rebels against the idea of being taken care of like a toddler, but my small body can't resist Olivia's gentle touch.
She finishes changing me quickly and efficiently, then helps me into a pair of small velcro sneakers.
I look down at my tiny feet, feeling the weight of a world I can't yet navigate on my own.
I stand nervously by the front door, my small backpack slung over my shoulder.
Olivia adjusts the straps, making sure they fit comfortably against my tiny frame.
Connor runs ahead, climbing into the front seat of the double stroller parked on the porch.
He waves his red car excitedly as Olivia turns to me.
"Ready to go, Nick?"
I nod hesitantly, my small body trembling with uncertainty.
Olivia reaches for my hand, but I try to step back.
My unsteady legs betray me, and I stumble backwards before she can catch me.
She lifts me easily into her arms, carrying me towards the stroller.
The morning sun is bright as we step out onto the porch, making me squint against its glare.
The Three Men And The Virgin
I resist as Olivia tries to lift me into the back seat of the stroller, but my toddler body doesn't have the strength to fight her gentle movements. The straps click into place around my small chest as Connor waves his red car excitedly from the front seat.
I sit strapped in the stroller as Olivia pushes us towards two women standing on a nearby porch.
Each holds a baby wrapped in blue blankets, their small faces peeking out from beneath the folds.
Connor points excitedly, his voice filled with wonder.
"Look, Nick! More babies!"
The women smile at us as we approach, their eyes crinkling at the corners.
They gently rock the babies in their arms, cooing softly to them.
As we get closer, I notice something familiar about their faces despite the infant features.
My heart races as I realize who they are.
The babies squirm and make soft cooing sounds, their small hands waving in the air.
Olivia stops the stroller and kneels beside me, her voice soft and soothing.
The Three Men And The Virgin
"These are your friends Lucas and Tom. They've been changed into babies like you."
I stare at them in shock, my small body trembling with surprise.
Connor leans over, whispering with wide eyes, "Does that mean we'll grow up together again?"
Olivia nods gently, brushing a stray hair from my forehead. "Yes, and you'll all have another chance to make new memories."
I glance at Lucas and Tom, their tiny faces filled with innocence, and feel a strange mix of hope and fear.
The Three Men And The Virgin
I lean forward in my stroller seat, straining against the safety straps to get closer to Lucas.
His tiny hand peeks out from the blue blanket as his new mother adjusts him in her arms.
Though my toddler fingers are clumsy, I manage to stretch far enough to brush against his soft baby hand.
A wave of relief washes over me when his fingers curl around mine.
Despite our transformed bodies, I still feel our friendship.
The Three Men And The Virgin
Connor watches curiously from the front seat as I hold onto Lucas, neither of us wanting to let go.
I sit on a blanket in Olivia's garden, my small legs tucked under me.
Lucas and Tom's new mothers place them beside me, their tiny bodies swaying unsteadily as they try to balance.
My toddler hands instinctively reach for the soft toys scattered around us.
Connor joins in, showing his red car to baby Lucas who gurgles and reaches for it.
Tom makes fussy sounds until his mother gives him a rattle, which he shakes with uncoordinated movements.
The Three Men And The Virgin
I watch my infant friends struggle with their new bodies, feeling grateful yet guilty that I retained more of my abilities.
As the sun sets, casting long shadows across the garden, I realize we're not just starting over; we're rewriting our story together.
