Systemnite gifts Ethan a system interface, allowing him to level up, complete quests, and transform his life forever.

My name is Ethan, and my life has been a living hell since my mom passed away.
My stepfather and stepmother treated me like I was nothing.
They made sure I knew I was unwanted and that my place was outside in the shed.
I wasn't allowed to eat with them or sleep in the house.
I had to do all the chores and if I didn't they would beat me.
I wasn't loved, I was hated.
I thought this was how life was supposed to be until one day changed everything.
I was out in the woods collecting berries for my stepmother's lunch when I saw a flash of light.
At first, I thought it was the sun, but then I heard a voice.
"Hello Ethan."
I looked around and saw nobody, so I thought I was going crazy.
"Who's there?"
I asked.
"I'm right here," said the voice.
I looked down and saw a small metallic creature about two feet tall with big round eyes and a big smile on his face.
"Hello," I said.
"Hello," said the creature.
"My name is Systemnite, but you can call me System."
"Nice to meet you," I said, shaking his hand.
"Nice to meet you too," said System.
"What are you?"
"I'm a Systemnite, which is basically an alien," said System.
"An alien?" I asked, surprised.
"Yes," said System.
"Yes, I'm an alien," said System.
I stood there frozen between two berry bushes, my basket half full of berries.
System's metallic form glinted in the afternoon sun, and his big round eyes looked at me with curiosity.
He took a step forward, raising his small hands in a peaceful gesture.
"Don't be afraid, Ethan," he said.
"I'm not going to hurt you."
I tensed my muscles, ready to run through the forest back to the shed if necessary.
But something about System's friendly demeanor put me at ease.
He seemed genuinely interested in talking to me.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him.
"I've been watching you for a while now," he replied.
"I've seen how you've been treated by your stepfather and stepmother. It's not right."
I felt a lump form in my throat as I thought about all the times I had been belittled and abused by them.
"Yeah, it's pretty bad," I said quietly.
"But there's nothing I can do about it."
System nodded sympathetically.
"I know it's hard, but there is something you can do. You can grow stronger."
I looked at him skeptically.
"How can I do that?"
System smiled again.
"I can help you. My people have developed a technology that allows us to interface with human consciousness. It's called a system interface."
I had no idea what he was talking about, but I was intrigued.
"A system interface?"
I repeated. "Yes," said System.
"It's a device that allows us to connect with your mind and enhance your abilities. It would make you stronger, faster, and smarter."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
This little alien was offering me a way out of my miserable life?
It sounded too good to be true.
"How does it work?"
I asked him.
System explained that the system interface was a small device that would be implanted in my brain.
It would allow him to communicate with me telepathically and provide me with information and guidance whenever I needed it.
He also said that it would enhance my physical abilities, making me stronger and faster than ever before.
It all sounded amazing, but I was still hesitant to trust this strange creature who had just appeared out of nowhere.
"How do I know this isn't some kind of trick?"
I asked him. System chuckled softly.
System met my gaze with unwavering sincerity and said, "Because you have nothing left to lose."
I sit on a fallen log, my feet dangling above the forest floor.
Systemnite hovers before me, his metallic body glinting in the dappled shadows of the forest.
His words echo in my mind: "I can change your life, Ethan."
I think about all the nights I've spent huddled in the cold shed, the sound of my stepfather's belt cracking against my back still echoing in my ears.
"What do I have to do?"
I ask quietly.
Systemnite floats closer, his big round eyes filled with determination.
"The fusion process requires physical contact," he explains.
"I must merge with your body, and the most effective way to do that is through direct contact with your palm."
My heart races as I consider his words.
I've never been one for medical procedures or anything that involves pain.
But something about Systemnite's confidence and sincerity puts me at ease.
"Okay," I say finally, extending my right hand.
Systemnite hovers closer, his metallic surface rippling like liquid mercury in the fading sunlight.
He extends a small appendage from his body, which looks like a cross between a finger and a wire.
As he floats closer, I can feel a strange tingling sensation spreading up my arm. The air around us seems to charge with electricity, and I can sense the anticipation building between us.
This is it—the moment that will change everything.
Systemnite's appendage makes contact with my palm, and a jolt of energy shoots through me.
It's not painful, but it's intense enough to make me gasp.
As our bodies connect, a brilliant blue light erupts between us, illuminating the darkening forest around us.

"Ethan," Systemnite's voice echoes in my mind.

I stare at the interface in awe, unsure of what to do next. "To access the system's features," Systemnite continues, "simply focus your thoughts on what you want to do. You can communicate with me telepathically by thinking about what you want to say. You can also access information about your surroundings by focusing on specific objects or locations."
I nod slowly, trying to absorb his words.
The interface glows brighter as Systemnite speaks, filling my vision with a brilliant blue light.
"Your current status is Level 1," Systemnite says.
"As you progress and complete tasks, you will earn experience points and level up. Each level will unlock new abilities and enhance your physical attributes."
I flex my fingers, feeling a surge of strength flow through them.
My muscles feel tighter and more defined than before, like they've been infused with a new kind of energy.
I look down at my hands and notice that they're glowing with a faint blue light.
It's as if the energy from the fusion process is still coursing through me. "What are you waiting for?"
Systemnite asks playfully.
"Try out your new abilities!"
I grin mischievously as I raise my right hand and punch the trunk of a nearby tree.
The tree shatters into splinters, and I realize my life will never be the same.
Eager to test the limits of my newfound abilities, I start with some basic movements.
I take a few tentative steps forward, feeling the ground beneath my feet as if it's made of air.
Each step is lighter, more controlled than before, as if gravity has somehow loosened its grip on me.
I bounce experimentally on my toes, marveling at how my muscles respond with unprecedented precision.
The system interface flashes in front of me, displaying my current stats and a notification about physical attribute testing.
"Ethan," Systemnite's voice echoes in my mind.
"Why don't you try running?"
I take a deep breath and position myself in a runner's stance.
Then, with a burst of energy, I push off from the ground and sprint forward.
The world around me blurs slightly as I accelerate, weaving between trees with reflexes I never knew I possessed.
I stop abruptly, realizing that this new path is mine to carve.
Catching my breath after the exhilarating run, I hear a soft chime in my head.
The system interface flashes with a new notification: "Would you like to view your status page?"
I nod mentally, and Systemnite guides me through the mental command to open it.
A translucent blue window materializes before me, displaying a wealth of information.
The interface is divided into several tabs: "Attributes," "Skills," "Inventory," "Quests," and "Powers."
I focus on the "Attributes" tab first, and a list of basic attributes appears: strength, agility, intelligence, and vitality.
Each attribute is currently at level one, awaiting growth and development.
I scroll through the other tabs.
"Skills" is empty except for basic tutorials on how to use the system.
"Inventory" contains only the clothes I'm wearing and a few items I found in the forest.
"Quests" lists a single introductory quest that involves completing a series of tasks to familiarize myself with the system.
Finally, I come to the "Powers" section.
Here, I find a single ability listed: "Enhanced Physical State - Level 1."
"Ethan," Systemnite's voice interrupts my thoughts, "there's something you need to know about the fusion process."
"What is it?" I ask, a hint of apprehension creeping into my voice.
"The fusion is not permanent," Systemnite replies, his tone serious, "we have a limited time before I must separate from you to recharge."
Sitting on a fallen log, I turn to face him.
"What do you mean by 'separate'?"
I ask, my voice laced with curiosity.
"Every 24 hours," Systemnite explains, his voice echoing in my mind through our mental link, "I must disconnect from you for a period of 2 hours to recharge my energy. During these times, you will not have access to the system interface or your enhanced abilities."
I nod slowly, processing this new information.
"So, it's like a reset every day," I say, trying to understand the implications.
"Yes," Systemnite confirms, "but don't worry. You will still retain any progress and experience points you've earned during our active periods."
I take a deep breath, contemplating the limitations of our connection.
Suddenly, a notification flashes in front of me: "Quest Alert: Complete Your First Training Session - Practice basic movements for 30 minutes. Reward: 100 XP."
I stand up, determination coursing through me.
"I'm ready," I say, my voice filled with resolve.
Systemnite guides me through a series of controlled jumps and precise movements between the trees.
As I move, a progress bar appears on the interface, slowly filling up as I complete each task.
"You're doing great, Ethan," Systemnite encourages, a hint of pride in his voice.
"Thanks," I reply, grinning as I leap over a fallen branch with ease.
"But there's something else you should know," Systemnite adds, his tone turning serious again, "the more you use your abilities, the faster my energy depletes."
