I, Alex, and my sister, Anna, are on an endless-sized adventure.
We are trying to figure out what happened and how everything came to be.
We also want to find out if any of our ancestors are still alive and where they are.
We don't even know if the world is round or flat.
We don't even know how it came into existence.
We have been traveling for a couple of days now, and we still have no clue what happened, what existed before us, or what will happen in the future.
We have been walking on a straight road with no end in sight.
There have been no houses, trees, or any living being on this planet except us.
Suddenly, we hear a loud thud and the ground begins to shake violently.
"What is that?"
Anna asks while holding onto me for balance.
"I don't know. Let's just wait and see what happens."
As we wait, the thud gets louder and the ground shakes even more than before.
As I look ahead of me, I can see a giant cloud of dust approaching us.
It's getting closer and closer by the second.
As it gets closer, I can see something moving inside the cloud.
"Anna, I think I see something coming toward us."
"Where? Where?"
I grip her trembling hand as we squint through the swirling dust cloud.
The thunderous footsteps grow stronger and stronger until my teeth begin to chatter.
"Alex, I think we should hide," Anna says.
"No, we need to know what this is."
As we wait for the dust cloud to reach us, the ground shakes even more violently than before.
The dust cloud finally reaches us, and it's so thick that we can't see anything.
We wait for the dust cloud to clear up, and as it does, we can see a giant silhouette of something or someone approaching us.
My heart is beating so fast against my ribs that I feel like it's going to break free from my chest.
As the dust cloud clears up completely, we can see the true form of the giant silhouette.
It's a giant being with skin like weathered stone and eyes that glow like embers.
Anna gasps beside me, her fingers digging into my arm so tightly that they leave bruises. The giant figure stops just yards away from us, its shadow engulfing us completely.
"Who dares to tread upon the path of the Forgotten?" the giant's voice booms, echoing like a distant storm.
"We... we mean no harm," I stammer, trying to sound braver than I feel.
Anna steps forward, her voice steady despite her fear, "We're searching for answers about our past and our people."
The giant's gaze falls upon us, its eyes burning with an inner fire.
"We have been waiting for you," it rumbles, its voice like the shifting of mountains.
"The path you seek is not for the faint of heart."
As the giant speaks, it lowers itself to the ground, its massive frame causing tremors that ripple through the earth.
I steady myself, my heart pounding in my chest.
The giant's joints creak and groan as it moves, sounding like the grinding of ancient stone.
Anna releases my hand and takes a step forward, her eyes fixed on the giant's glowing orbs.
The giant reaches into a crevice in its chest, extracting something that resembles a piece of worn leather.
It extends its enormous hand toward us, offering the object to Anna.
She hesitates for a moment before reaching out to take it. As she touches the surface of the object, I notice that it bears intricate markings carved into its surface.
The symbols pulse with a faint light, like embers from a long-extinguished fire.
"The path you seek lies within these marks," the giant declares, its voice rumbling through the air like thunder.
Anna holds up the object, examining it closely.
As she turns it over in her hands, I can see that the markings are more than just random symbols—they form a map.
A map that leads to unknown destinations and hidden secrets.
Suddenly, Anna's eyes widen with realization as she looks at me.
"This is it! This is what we've been searching for!"
But before she can say anything else, I grab her wrist and pull her back.
"Wait," I say, my voice barely above a whisper.
"How do we know we can trust this thing?"
Anna looks at me incredulously.
"What do you mean? It just gave us exactly what we've been searching for!"
Anna glances back at the giant, her brow furrowed with uncertainty.
"We don't," she admits, her voice tinged with both fear and determination.
"But if this is our only chance to uncover the truth, we have to take it."
