What's more, he's been my friend since I was a child, and I always thought that one day our friendship would blossom into something more.
But things took a strange turn the spring of my first year in high school…
"Chiaki… Are you really okay? You were acting pretty strange during the entrance ceremony."
My classmate, Kaneshiro Takeru, came up to me as I was leaving the auditorium after the ceremony had finished.
It was obvious that I wasn't okay: I hadn't been able to stop staring at Suichiro the whole time.
But I didn't want him to worry, so I put on a forced smile and said, "I'm fine. Don't worry about it."
Takeru gave me a dubious look.

We stayed there a while longer, the two of us sitting under the cherry blossoms as they continued to fall around us.
Then Takeru shifted closer to me.
He looked into my eyes and said, "Maybe it's me you're meant to be with."
I froze.
I wasn't sure how to answer him.
I'd thought that he was just helping me because he was friends with me, but maybe he had feelings for me too.
I looked deep into his eyes, wondering if he was telling the truth.
