Despite being paired with a boy, she showed her strength by carrying him through a drill, earning the respect of her peers. Her relationship with Trent, a boy from her school, is complicated due to past misunderstandings. She struggles with family issues, particularly her mother's addiction and father's absence.
Anna
She is Maddie's best friend and fellow weightlifting team member. She is supportive, energetic, and loyal. She helps organize the weightlifting camp with Maddie and Jessica. Anna is eager to see Maddie overcome past heartbreaks and embrace new relationships. She provides emotional support and encouragement for Maddie throughout the camp, standing by her side through challenges and triumphs.
Brody
He is a high school student attending the weightlifting camp. He is charming, competitive, and confident. As a former cheerleader turned wrestler, he gains attention from girls but remains focused on his training. His interactions with Maddie are cordial but not significant as he navigates social dynamics within the group.
The boys in my gym class are in for a rude awakening.
When Anna and Jessica announce that everyone will be paired up for the next drill, the boys immediately start high-fiving and congratulating each other, thinking they’ll all get paired with a girl.
But what they don’t know is that this isn’t just any ordinary class.
This is a weightlifting class, and the camp I organized with my two best friends is being led by none other than us: the captains of our high school weightlifting team.
As it turns out, all the girls got paired with another girl, except for four of us, who each got paired with a boy.
The boys immediately started griping and complaining when they found out they wouldn’t be lifting a girl.
But what they don’t realize is that they’re about to get their asses kicked.
When we line up and start doing our partner drills, everything goes smoothly and just like we practiced during our weightlifting camps last summer.
That is, until we get to the part where one person has to carry their partner across the gym and back.
All the boys immediately start grumbling and complaining when they realize they’ll have to be carried by a girl.
But then something unexpected happens.
One by one, each of the four girls who got paired with a boy steps forward and says she’ll do the carrying instead of her partner.
Jessica steps forward with unwavering confidence, effortlessly hoisting her partner onto her shoulders and striding across the gym like it's a casual stroll.
I watch as Anna steps up next, her eyes meeting mine with a knowing glance.
She approaches her partner, a tall basketball player named Derek, who towers over her with crossed arms and a skeptical expression.
Without hesitation, she positions herself in front of him, bends her knees, and wraps her arms around his thighs.
In one fluid motion, she hoists him onto her shoulders, his weight settling across her upper back.
Derek lets out a surprised yelp, his hands scrambling for balance.
The class falls silent as Anna carries him across the gym, her steps steady and controlled.
When she reaches the other side, she carefully lowers Derek back to his feet.
He stumbles backward, face flushed red.
The rest of us follow suit, each girl lifting her partner with ease and grace.
I watch as my friends complete their carries, each boy's face a mix of shock and embarrassment.
My partner, a lanky sophomore named Kyle, shifts nervously beside me.
When it's our turn, I position myself in front of him, explaining the fireman's carry technique we practiced.
He hesitates, stammering that this isn't necessary.
I ignore his protests, grip his wrist and thigh firmly, and in one fluid motion, hoist him across my shoulders.
His body tenses as I secure my hold.
The gym falls silent as I take my first confident step forward, Kyle's weight balanced perfectly across my upper back.
As I carry him across the gym, I feel something h#d pressing against my back.
I realize with a jolt that it's an e###n.
I keep my focus, my steps steady and controlled.
Kyle's breathing grows heavier, his body tensing further.
I maintain my grip on his wrist and thigh, ignoring the awkwardness of the situation.
The other students watch in stunned silence as we approach the finish line.
Just as we cross it, Kyle's body shudders and he c###s.
I carefully lower him to his feet, step away, and wipe my hands on my shorts.
Kyle's face is a deep shade of crimson, and he stammers, "I... I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for that to happen."
I offer him a reassuring smile, trying to ease the tension. "It's okay, Kyle. Just focus on the drills next time."
After the drill, Derek and Kyle approach Anna and me as we're stretching.
Derek still looks impressed by Anna's strength, while Kyle seems embarrassed but determined.
"Hey, Anna," Derek says, "I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me on Saturday."
Kyle clears his throat and adds, "And I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me too, Rachel."
I glance at Anna, who gives me a subtle nod of approval.
"Sure," I say, trying to sound casual.
"Where did you have in mind?"
Derek grins.
"There's a new water park that just opened up downtown. We could check it out."
"That sounds fun," Anna replies.
"What time were you thinking?"
"How about 10 am?" suggests Kyle.
"And we could meet at the front entrance of the water park," adds Derek.
"Sounds good," I say, exchanging a glance with Anna.
We agree on a time and place, and the boys walk away.
As we turn to leave the gym, I catch sight of Trent watching us from across the room.
His expression is unreadable, but he quickly looks away when he notices me staring.
Anna nudges my shoulder, snapping me back to reality.
"So, what are you going to wear on our double date?" she asks with a mischievous grin.
I shrug, still distracted by Trent's enigmatic presence.
"I haven't thought about it yet. What do you think I should wear?"
Anna pauses for a moment before responding. "Well, it's a water park, so maybe something comfortable and easy to move around in. You know, like a swimsuit cover-up or something."
I nod thoughtfully.
"Yeah, that makes sense. And what about shoes? Should I wear sandals or sneakers?"
Anna shrugs again.
"I think either would be fine. It's not like we're going to be doing anything that requires a lot of running or anything."
I nod again, mentally making a note to pack both sandals and sneakers in my bag for the day.
As we walk out of the gym together, I can't help but feel a little nervous about our upcoming double date.
It's not that I don't trust Derek and Kyle; it's just that this will be my first real date with anyone since moving to California last year.
As we pull into the parking lot of the water park, Anna and I climb out of the car.
We're both wearing our bikinis under our cover-ups.
I have on a bright red bikini that matches my hair, while Anna is wearing a deep blue one that complements her dark brown hair.
We see Derek and Kyle standing by the front entrance, waiting for us.
They're both wearing matching black speedos, which leave little to the imagination.
I can't help but stare at their toned bodies as we approach them.
"Hey, guys," Anna says with a smile.
"You look great."
Derek grins back at her.
"You don't look so bad yourself. That bikini really brings out your eyes."
Anna blushes slightly at the compliment, while I try to hide my own embarrassment.
Kyle clears his throat nervously and turns to me.
"So, Rachel... how's it going?"
I shrug nonchalantly.
"It's going okay, I guess. Just trying to stay cool in this heat."
Kyle nods sympathetically.
"Yeah, it's definitely hot today. But at least we have each other to keep us company."
I force a smile and nod in agreement.
"Definitely."
The four of us head over to the ticket booth and buy our tickets.
As we walk through the gates, I can't help but steal glances at Derek and Kyle's bodies. Their speedos are so tight that I can see every muscle definition in their legs and chests.
I feel myself getting a little turned on just looking at them, but I try to push those thoughts away and focus on having fun with my friends instead.
We make our way over to the first water slide and get in line behind a group of screaming children.
As we wait, I glance over at Anna and notice that she's also checking out Derek's body from behind.
I give her a knowing look and she quickly looks away, trying to hide her embarrassment.
After a few minutes of waiting, we finally reach the front of the line and climb into our tubes.
As we slide down the water slide, I can't help but scream with excitement.
The rush of adrenaline is exhilarating, and I feel like a kid again.
When we get to the bottom of the slide, we all climb out of our tubes and look at each other with huge smiles on our faces.
"That was so much fun," Anna says, her eyes shining with excitement.
"Definitely," Derek agrees.
"Let's do it again."
We all nod in agreement and head back up to the top of the slide.
This time, as we're sliding down, I notice that Kyle is trying to position himself so that he ends up behind me at the bottom of the slide.
I can't help but wonder if he's trying to get a better look at my ass or something. When we get to the bottom of the slide, Kyle climbs out of his tube and comes over to me.
"Hey, Rachel," he says with a grin.
"I was wondering if you wanted to do a chicken fight with me."
I raise an eyebrow at him skeptically.
"A chicken fight? What's that?"
Kyle chuckles nervously.
"It's just a game we play where one person sits on another person's shoulders and tries to knock them off. It's really fun."
I hesitate for a moment before nodding my head.
"Okay, sure. But only if Anna agrees to do it too."
Kyle nods eagerly and turns to Anna.
"Anna, will you do a chicken fight with me?"
Anna looks at me uncertainly before nodding her head.
"Sure, why not?"
The four of us walk over to one of the pools and find an empty spot near the edge.
Kyle and Derek sit down on either side of us while Anna and I stand in between them. "Okay, so here's how this works," Kyle explains.
"One person sits on another person's shoulders and tries to knock them off. The last person standing wins."
Anna nods confidently.
"I'm going to win this thing."
Derek smirks at her.
"We'll see about that."
The two boys stand up and crouch down so that Anna and I can climb onto their shoulders.
I wrap my legs around Derek's neck while Anna does the same with Kyle.
Once we're secure, the boys stand up straight and start circling each other.
As they move around, I look over at Trent, who's still standing off to the side watching us.
He occasionally glances in my direction, but he doesn't say anything.
As Rachel and Anna prepare for the next chicken fight, I glance over at Trent, who's still watching us from across the gym.
I turn my attention back to the drill, helping Rachel onto Anna's shoulders.
The boys cheer as the girls balance precariously on top of each other.
Anna's determination is evident in her eyes as she steadies Rachel on her shoulders.
Meanwhile, I notice Trent's gaze lingering on me once again.
I feel a mix of nervousness and anticipation about our upcoming date.
As the fight begins, Rachel and Anna move forward, trying to knock each other off balance.
Rachel leans in, whispering to Anna, "Did you see Trent watching us earlier?"
Anna nods slightly, her eyes focused on the task at hand. "Yeah, I noticed. Think he's jealous?"
Rachel chuckles softly, adjusting her grip. "Maybe, or maybe he's just impressed by our skills."
