Today I finished my last interview.
Standing in front of the bathroom mirror, I stripped off my clothes and put them in the laundry bag.
I then opened the faucet and poured some bath soap into the tub.
The smell of the soap filled my nose, and I couldn't help but want to take a bath immediately.
I turned off the faucet and got into the tub.
As I lay down, I felt the warmth of the water spreading throughout my body.
The stress from my work started to fade away.
Feeling relaxed, I closed my eyes and let out a sigh of relief.
Just as I was about to drift off to sleep, I suddenly heard a loud crackling noise coming from outside the room.
I quickly got up and turned off the faucet.
The lights in the room began to flicker back and forth.
I was confused and a bit spooked by this unusual occurrence.
A bright golden light suddenly appeared in front of me.
Before I could make sense of what was happening, a huge ball of fire exploded in my room, engulfing everything in its path.
I felt like I was being burned alive as the flames took over.
The heat was unbearable, and my skin felt like it was being scorched.
I tried to scream, but my voice was muffled by the intense flames.
As quickly as it had started, everything stopped.
I grip the edges of the bathtub, my knuckles turning white as I try to steady my racing heart.
The bathroom lights continue their erratic dance, casting strange shadows on the tile walls.
Steam rises from the water, but I no longer feel its warmth.
My skin tingles where I thought the flames had touched me, yet there are no burns, no marks, nothing to prove what I just experienced.
I reach for my towel with trembling hands and step out of the tub, water dripping onto the floor.
In the mirror, my reflection appears normal, unchanged.
The familiar hum of the hotel's ventilation system returns, and the lights stabilize.
Still trembling, I wrap the towel around myself and make my way to my suitcase, which lies open on the bed.
As I reach for my purple business suit, the lights begin to flicker again.
I freeze, expecting another explosion, but instead, a golden orb materializes in front of me.
It pulses with an intense energy that makes the air shimmer around it.
I try to back away, but the sphere follows me, growing larger and brighter.
Heat radiates from it in waves, warming my skin.
My towel catches fire and disintegrates, leaving me naked and vulnerable.
The sphere explodes, engulfing me in flames once more.
This time, however, I feel no pain.
Instead, a surge of power courses through me as if my body is absorbing the fire.
When the light fades, I'm standing in a red and blue suit with a solar flare emblem on my chest.
A red cape flows behind me like a river of fire.
I stare at my reflection in the hotel mirror, barely recognizing myself in this new form-fitting costume.
The red and blue fabric hugs my body like a second skin, the solar flare emblem gleaming on my chest.
Experimentally, I stretch my arms, feeling the strange elasticity of the material.
It's both flexible and strong, like a second layer of muscle.
My eyes widen as I notice something else—the flames that engulfed me are still there, but they're no longer burning me.
Instead, they seem to be a part of me now, dancing across my skin in a mesmerizing pattern.
An inexplicable urge pulls me toward the window.
I feel drawn to the night sky outside, as if something is calling to me from above.
Without thinking, I walk over to the window and push it open.
A gust of wind rushes in, whipping my cape behind me like a wild animal.
I step out onto the narrow ledge, twenty stories up.
The city lights twinkle below me like stars. My heart races as I look down at the ground far beneath my feet.
I've always been afraid of heights, but now I feel an overwhelming desire to jump.
It's as if I have a secret knowledge that I can fly.
Taking a deep breath, I position my feet shoulder-width apart and bend my knees slightly.
Energy surges through me, making my muscles feel stronger than ever before.
I push off from the ledge and rise into the air, accelerating upward with incredible speed.
