Rajesh Kumar
curious, and ambitious. Rajesh dreams of becoming more than just a servant, but his low social status holds him back. He is fascinated by the Rani's upcoming Pokémon journey and wishes he could join her. Rajesh is often overlooked by the palace staff, but he hopes to prove himself worthy of attention. His life changes when he discovers a mysterious egg that hatches into a rare Pokémon.
Guruji Ramesh
enigmatic, and supportive. Guruji possesses deep understanding of ancient lore and magic related to Pokémon training in their region inspired by 17th century India. He becomes Rajesh's mentor after discovering his potential with Pokémon and helps him understand his newfound abilities.
Lakshmi Devi
compassionate, and protective. Lakshmi ensures Nalini's safety by assigning guards to accompany her on her journey. She oversees palace affairs with fairness and kindness, earning respect from everyone in the kingdom. Her relationship with Nalini is loving yet firm as she prepares her daughter for adulthood.
I, Rajesh Kumar, am but a lowly servant in the palace of Her Highness the Rani, Lakshmi Devi.
My duties are many, but my ambition is singular: I wish to become a Pokémon trainer.
Alas, my station in life is too poor, too lowly, to permit it.
In this, the seventeenth year of the second millennium, only those with sufficient means may train Pokémon.
I am not alone in my desire to train Pokémon, for it is a thing shared by nearly every youth in our land.
But whereas others may at least dream of one day owning a Pokémon, I dare not even hope.
For in our land, one must first be awarded a Pokémon by the Rani herself—or in some cases, the Raja—before one may train.
And palaces such as ours, where the youth of the royal family may receive a Pokémon for their birthday, are few and far between.
So how fortunate we are to have Princess Nalini about to turn sixteen!
For on that day, she shall receive her Pokémon and begin her journey to become a trainer.
The Princess’s birthday falls but one week from today.
It cannot come soon enough.
The palace is a flurry of activity as the Rani and her staff prepare for the Princess’s special day.
I have retreated to my quarters in the servants’ wing to escape the noise and commotion.
My quarters are but a small, cluttered corner of the wing, with a narrow bed and a chest for my belongings.
I have few possessions, but they are precious to me.
I rummage through them now, seeking solace in memories of my mother, who passed away when I was young.
My hands brush against a wooden box, its surface worn smooth by time.
It is an old box, one that has been passed down through generations of my family.
I open it, revealing a collection of letters and trinkets.
Among them lies an old Pokéball.
It is scratched and faded, but still intact.
I pick it up carefully, feeling its weight in my hand.
This Pokéball has been in our family for as long as I can remember.
It was given to my mother by her father, who received it from his father before him.
But though it has been passed down through our family for generations, none of us have ever known its true purpose or power. I am determined to uncover its secrets, and so I shall seek out Guruji Ramesh, a wise old man who lives on the outskirts of the kingdom.
He is said to possess great knowledge of Pokémon and their ways.
As night begins to fall over the palace, I slip out of my quarters, careful not to rouse the guards.
The moon is full overhead, casting a silver glow over the grounds.
I make my way along the winding path that leads to Guruji Ramesh’s secluded hut.
My heart pounds in my chest, excitement and fear mingling within me.
I am afraid of being caught, but I am more afraid of missing this chance to learn from Guruji Ramesh.
As I approach the halfway point, a rustle in the bushes ahead catches my attention.
I halt in my tracks, peering into the shadows.
A small figure emerges from the underbrush, its eyes glowing softly in the dim light.
It is a Ralts, its tiny fingers grasping a handful of berries.
The Ralts tilts its head curiously at me, as if sensing my intentions.
I extend a cautious hand, hoping to coax it closer.
The Ralts hesitates, then steps forward, its eyes fixed on the Pokéball in my hand.
"You're not here to catch me, are you?" a soft voice echoes in my mind, startling me.
"No," I whisper, realizing the Ralts is speaking telepathically, "I'm here to learn how to become a trainer, just like you."
The Ralts considers my words, its eyes narrowing slightly.
I stand still, aware that any sudden movement might send it fleeing into the night.
Slowly, the Ralts inches closer, the berries in its tiny hands trembling slightly.
I kneel down, maintaining eye contact with the curious creature.
"But if you want to follow me, I welcome you," I whisper.
The Ralts nods silently, a silent agreement forming between us.
Together, we continue towards Guruji Ramesh’s hut, our footsteps quiet on the moonlit path.
Upon arriving at the hut, I knock softly on the door.
The old man opens it himself, his eyes twinkling with knowing as he takes in the sight of myself and my new companion.
"Ah, Rajesh, I see you've already made a friend on your journey," Guruji Ramesh says with a gentle smile.
"Yes, Guruji," I reply, glancing at the Ralts beside me, "I believe it was meant to be."
Guruji nods thoughtfully, his gaze shifting to the Pokéball in my hand. "And you seek to unlock the secrets of that which you carry?"
