I am 8 months pregnant.
One day, I went up to the attic and found a box with my name on it.
Inside, there was a locket and a photo of a woman named Sophia.
I showed it to my husband, John, and he was shocked.
He asked me where I found it and who Sophia was.
I told him I found it in the attic and had no idea who she was.
John looked at the back of the photo and found a note that said: "Sophia - 1920".
He put the photo in his pocket and told me he would look into it.
I was confused and a bit worried, so I asked him what it meant.
He just shook his head and said he didn't know.
The next day, John went to his office and left me at home.
After he left, I started thinking about the photo and who Sophia might have been.
I decided to do some research on my own.
I went online and searched for information about Sophia and the year 1920.
As I scrolled through the results, I found one that caught my eye: "Sophia - a woman who disappeared in 1920".
I clicked on the link and read the article.
It said that Sophia was a young woman who lived in the town where I live now.
She was engaged to be married to a man named James, but she disappeared one day before the wedding.

I sat at my desk, staring at the article on the screen.
My hand trembled as I reached for my phone.
The house was quiet around me, the only sound the hum of the computer and the ticking of the clock on the wall.
I dialed John's number and waited for him to answer.
As I waited, I pulled up the photo again and studied Sophia's face more closely.
The call went to voicemail twice before he finally picked up.
"Hello?" he said, his voice tense.
"Hi," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
"I found something about Sophia."
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment I thought we had been disconnected.

"Are you still there?"
I asked.
"Yes," he said.
"What did you find out?"
"I found an article about a woman named Sophia who disappeared in 1920," I explained.
"It says she was engaged to be married, but she never showed up at the wedding. They found her body a few days later in a river. It's so sad."
There was another pause on the other end of the line.
"Where are you?"
John asked suddenly. "I'm at home," I replied, confused.
"Why?"
The Secret We Kept
"Don't dig any deeper," he said sharply.
I heard papers shuffling on his end of the line, and then he spoke again.
"I'm coming home now. Don't look up anything else about her."
After I hung up with John, I sat at my desk staring at the laptop screen.
The article about Sophia was still open in the browser, and my hands were shaking slightly.
Suddenly, I heard a notification sound coming from the computer.
I looked down and saw that a new email had appeared in my inbox.
The subject line read "Seeking Information - Sophia Matthews Case."
My heart racing, I clicked on the email and read the message.
It was from a private investigator named Marcus Chen, and he offered $50,000 to anyone who could provide verifiable information about Sophia's disappearance.
I noticed the date of the email: exactly 103 years after Sophia had vanished.
My eyes widened as I read through the message again, trying to make sense of what I was seeing.
Then, without thinking, I reached for my phone to take a photo of the screen.
The Secret We Kept
The screen flickered, and the email vanished before I could capture it.
