Percy the small green engine
Gordon the big blue engine
"Chuff chuff chuff chuff chuff..."
Percy the small green engine cried, "Thomas! Thomas The tank engine! Oh no! Thomas!"
"We will find him when we get to Chicago, Perc," I, James the red engine said.
"Sniff sniff," Percy sniffled.
"We are almost there now."
I knew Thomas was missing in Chicago and my friend was in trouble.
My friend was a blue engine.
He had six wheels, a long blue body, and a black funnel.
I had to find him!
"Chuff chuff chuff..."
I puffed on through the snowy landscape.
The tracks were icy, but I pushed on.
I had to get to Chicago.
I had to find Thomas!
"Chuff chuff chuff..."
Percy puffed alongside me.
He was doing his best, but the tracks were getting worse.
Suddenly, he let out a loud "Whooooaaa..."
"What's wrong now, Perc?"
I asked.
"Oh no! My wheels are frozen. I am not going anywhere," he said.
"Don't worry, little fellow. I will give you a push."
I said, and I gave him a big push.
"Chuff chuff chuff..."
Percy started to move again.
"Thank you James!"
He said happily, but then he started to cry again.
"What's wrong now?"
I asked.
"I am going to leave Thomas behind! I am slowing you down!"
"Oh no! Don't say that!"
I said.
"We are in this together!"
"Don't worry about it, Perc. I will get you there in one piece."
I puffed on.
The tracks were getting worse.
Suddenly, we were out of the snowy landscape and into the city limits.
"Chuff chuff chuff chuff," Percy said.
My wheels clattered against the frozen rails.
Percy was struggling behind me.
We were in the industrial district now.
The air was thick with a foul smell.
Suddenly, Perc and I stopped dead in our tracks.
"What's that smell?"
I said.
"It smells like metal and grease," Perc said.
"Look over there!"
I said, pointing to a big junkyard.
Behind a rusted chain-link fence, we saw a big yard filled with all sorts of scrap metal and broken machinery.
In the middle of it all, we saw something blue lying sideways off the tracks, his wheels hanging uselessly in the air.
"Thomas!"
Percy cried.
He was lying on his side, his wheels hanging uselessly in the air!
We had to get him out of there!
"Perc, can you see that siding over there? We need to get on it so we can get Thomas out of that junkyard."
"Yes, I see it," he said. "Let's get on it then."
We puffed on and managed to get onto the siding.
There was a big flatbed sitting on the siding next to us.
"Look! A flatbed! We can get Thomas on that!"
I said excitedly.
"Perc, can you uncouple from me and move onto the flatbed?"
"Yes," he said as he uncoupled from me and moved onto the flatbed.
Now I had to figure out how to get Thomas on that flatbed!
"Let me think for a second..."
I thought for a moment before I had an idea!
"Percy! Can you move your cab so that your coupling is right next to mine?"
"Yes," he said as he moved his cab so that our couplings were right next to each other.
"Now I am going to move my cab so that my coupling is right next to Thomas."
I moved my cab until my coupling was right next to Thomas'.
Now all we had to do was pull him onto the flatbed!
"Ready when you are, Perc," I said as I attached my chain to Thomas'.
"I am ready," he said as he attached his chain to Thomas' coupling. "Pull!" we both shouted as we pulled with all our might!
The chains creaked and groaned under the tension.
Thomas was so heavy!
I could feel the strain on my engine.
It was hard work, but we were doing it!
Thomas was slowly being pulled upright.
Finally, his wheels cleared the ground.
"Reverse!"
We both shouted as we reversed slowly, pulling the chains taut until Thomas shifted onto the flatbed with a loud clang!
"Whooo hooo!"
Percy blew his whistle excitedly.
Thomas was so still and quiet.
He didn't even say anything!
But as we celebrated, a shadow loomed over us, and a deep voice rumbled, "Who dares disturb my scrapyard?"
I looked up to see a big crane looming over us.
Its shadow was growing larger by the second.
The crane's rusty joints creaked and groaned as it moved.
Percy froze next to me, his wheels locked in fear on the icy tracks.
The flatbed rocked precariously under Thomas' weight as the crane's claw descended.
I tried reversing slowly, but my wheels slipped on the snow-covered rails.
The crane's claw swung closer and scraped against Thomas' side with a horrible metallic screech!
Percy tried to push forward, but Thomas was too heavy for him to move on the flatbed.
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha," laughed the crane operator, a gruff voice from somewhere above us.
"Who are you, and why are you taking Thomas?" I shouted up to the crane operator.
"Name's Rusty," the operator replied with a chuckle, "and this scrapyard's mine—anything left here becomes part of my collection."
"But Thomas isn't scrap! He's our friend, and we're taking him back," Percy insisted, his voice trembling but determined.
