Blue
"Blue! Are you ready?!"
I heard my mom shout from downstairs.
I looked at the clock and it was 8:30 AM.
Ugh, I thought to myself.
I hate mornings…
But I knew that I had to get ready, so I forced myself out of bed.
I walked over to my closet and pulled out a random outfit.
I quickly got dressed before heading downstairs to eat breakfast.
As soon as I stepped into the kitchen, I was hit with the smell of freshly brewed coffee.
I wrinkled my nose in distaste as I sat down at the table.
My mom smiled at me as she slid a plate of pancakes my way.
"Good morning, sweetie," she said cheerfully.
"Um, good morning, mom," I replied timidly.
I hated being around people when they were cheerful in the mornings.
It just made me want to go back to bed even more.
I quickly ate my breakfast before grabbing my backpack and heading out the door.
"Have a good day at school, Blue," my mom said with a wave.
"Um, thanks," I replied as I turned to walk down the driveway.
As soon as I reached the street, I heard a voice call out behind me.
"Blue! Wait up!"
I turned around to see Red running towards me.
A smile spread across my face as I waited for her to catch up.
Once she reached me, we walked side by side towards school.
As we trudged through the snow, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me.
It was nice to have someone to walk with again.
The cold air bit at my cheeks, but I didn't mind.
I was just happy to be out in the world again.
"Hey, Blue," Red said as she nudged me with her elbow.
"What's up?"
I asked, looking over at her.
"I was thinking about what we should do this weekend," she said, a mischievous glint in her eye.
"I don't know," I replied, shrugging my shoulders.
"Well, I was thinking we could try that new game at the arcade," she suggested.
"Maybe," I said, considering it for a moment.
"But then again, maybe we could just stay home and watch movies," Red said with a grin.
"That sounds good too," I replied, nodding my head.
As we continued to walk, the crunching sound of our boots on the snow filled the air.
It was a familiar sound, one that I had grown accustomed to over the years.
But even so, it still brought a sense of comfort to me. As we approached the school gates, I could see Victoria standing there with her usual group of friends.
She looked over at us as we walked by, her eyes narrowing slightly as she took in our appearance.
I felt a pang of anxiety in my chest as I noticed her gaze on us.
But then again, maybe it wasn't so bad.
After all, we were just two girls walking to school together.
There was nothing wrong with that. As we continued on our way, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me.
It was nice to have someone to walk with again.
And even though Victoria had given us a strange look, it didn't matter.
"Red, did you hear what happened to Victoria last week?" I asked, trying to keep my voice low.
"No, what happened?" Red replied, her curiosity piqued.
"Apparently, she got caught sneaking into the principal's office after hours," I whispered, glancing around to make sure no one else was listening.
"Oh yeah? What was she doing in there?"
Red asked, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"I don't know," I replied, shrugging my shoulders.
"But I heard she got in a lot of trouble for it."
"Well, that's not surprising," Red said with a snort.
"Victoria always was a bit of a troublemaker."
I nodded my head in agreement as we continued to walk.
As we approached the school building, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease wash over me.
The idea of sneaking into the principal's office made my stomach churn with fear.
But at the same time, I couldn't help but be curious about what Victoria had been up to.
Maybe she had been looking for something important?
Or maybe she had just wanted to see what was behind the closed door?
Whatever the reason, I knew that I had to find out more. As we walked through the halls, Red and I stuck together like glue.
We chatted and laughed as we made our way to our lockers.
But as soon as we reached them, Red's expression turned serious.
"Blue, do you think we could sneak into the principal's office tonight?" she asked, her eyes gleaming with mischief.
I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say.
But then again, maybe it wasn't such a bad idea?
After all, it would be fun to have an adventure together.
And who knows what we might find?
"Okay," I replied finally, nodding my head.
"But we have to be careful. We don't want to get caught."
Red grinned at me before giving me a playful nudge.
"Don't worry, Blue. We'll be fine. And even if we do get caught, it will be worth it."
I couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm.
As we continued to chat, the final bell rang out through the halls.
It was time for class to start. As we made our way to our first period class, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement wash over me.
Sneaking into the principal's office was definitely going to be an adventure.
And with Red by my side, I knew that nothing could go wrong.
As soon as school let out for the day, Red and I made our way back home.
We walked side by side through the snow-covered streets, chatting about our plans for that night. Once we reached my house, Red came inside with me while I grabbed some snacks and my backpack.
As we walked back out to the street, I noticed a car parked in front of my house.
It was a black sedan with tinted windows, and it looked like it had just been washed.
I couldn't help but wonder who it belonged to.
As we approached the door, I could see that it was slightly ajar.
I pushed it open slowly, calling out to my mom.
"Mom? Are you here?"
I heard her voice call back from the living room.
"Yes, I'm here. Come on in."
Red and I exchanged a look before making our way inside.
As soon as we entered the living room, I saw my mom sitting on the couch with a man I had never seen before.
He stood up as soon as he saw us, giving us a friendly smile.
"This is Arthur D. Williams," my mom said, gesturing to him.
"And this is his son, George."
Arthur extended his hand to me, giving me a firm handshake.
"It's nice to meet you both," he said politely.
George gave us a small nod before sitting back down in his chair.
I could tell that he was feeling a bit uncomfortable in the situation. My mom gestured for Red and I to take a seat on the couch beside her.
We did as she asked, trying our best to make small talk with Arthur and George.
It wasn't easy, though - they seemed like two very different people from us.
After a few minutes of chatting, my mom invited them to stay for tea.
Arthur and George accepted her offer, and we all made our way into the kitchen.
As soon as we were seated at the table, Arthur began asking us questions about ourselves.
Red and I did our best to answer him politely, but it wasn't easy.
It felt like he was trying to get too much information out of us.
Just as we were finishing up our tea, Arthur glanced at his watch and stood up abruptly.
"I'm sorry, but we have to go," he said apologetically. My mom stood up as well, walking them both to the door.
Red and I followed behind her, saying our goodbyes as they left the house.
Once they were gone, my mom closed the door behind them and turned to face us.
"Well, what did you think?" she asked curiously.
Red and I exchanged a look before shrugging our shoulders in response.
"They seemed nice enough," Red said finally, breaking the silence.
"But they definitely felt like outsiders."
My mom nodded her head in agreement.
"Yes, I know what you mean," she said softly.
"It's just that they come from a different world than us."
As soon as my mom had left the room, Red and I both let out a sigh of relief.
We sat there in silence for a moment, enjoying the feeling of being alone.
Finally, Red spoke up.
"So, what do you think about sneaking into the principal's office?" she asked curiously.
I shrugged my shoulders, unsure of what to say.
"I don't know," I replied finally.
"It feels like it could be fun, but it also feels like it could get us into trouble."
Red nodded her head in agreement.
"Yeah, I can see that," she said softly.
"But at the same time, I feel like we have to do it. It's like a challenge or something."
I couldn't help but laugh at that.
"Okay, fine," I said finally, smiling at her.
"Let's do it."
As soon as we had finished our homework, Red and I made our way back to my room.
We sat down on the bed together, looking at each other nervously. "So, what's the plan?" I asked curiously.
Red smiled at me before pulling out a piece of paper from her backpack.
"I drew up a map of the school," she said proudly.
"It shows all of the hidden passages and secret rooms that we'll need to use to get to the principal's office undetected."
I took the paper from her and examined it carefully.
It was definitely impressive - I had no idea that Red had such a talent for drawing.
"Wow, this is really good," I said finally, handing it back to her.
"Thanks," Red replied with a smile.
"Now, let's go over the plan one more time."
As soon as we had finished going over everything, Red stood up and walked over to my window.
She looked out at the street below for a moment before turning back to me.
"It's getting late," she said softly.
"We should probably get going." As soon as we were both dressed and ready to go, we made our way downstairs and out into the night.
The air was cold and crisp as we walked through the streets, but we didn't mind.
We were too excited about our mission to let a little bit of cold weather stop us. As soon as we reached the school gates, Red stopped and looked around nervously.
"Do you think anyone saw us?" she whispered, her voice barely audible in the still night.
"I don't think so," I replied, glancing around to make sure the coast was clear.
"Good," Red said, her eyes gleaming with determination. "Let's do this."
