selfconscious, and resilient. Emily struggles with her weight and body image, especially during pregnancy. She faces harsh criticism from her trainer Amy, who shames her for gaining weight. Despite this, Emily continues to work out and strives to maintain a healthy lifestyle for her unborn child.
Amy Thompson
critical, and unsympathetic. Amy is notorious for shaming clients who gain weight, especially pregnant women like Emily. Her harsh methods include public weighins and forced outdoor runs as punishment for weight gain. Her behavior towards Emily is particularly cruel and demoralizing.
Sarah Mitchell
caring, and encouraging. Sarah notices Emily's struggles with Amy's harsh training methods and offers words of comfort and support. She shares her own experiences with pregnancy and body changes, providing a sense of camaraderie with Emily.
I was working out in the gym when I heard a voice behind me.
"Emily, you're doing it wrong!"
I looked up and saw Amy standing behind me with a scowl on her face.
She came over to me and said, "Let me show you how to do it."
She grabbed the weights out of my hands and started demonstrating the exercise.
As she was doing the exercise, she said to me, "You need to do it like this. Get your back straight and push your hips out."
I nodded and thanked her.
After she finished the exercise, she said to me, "Let me see your back." I showed her my back and she touched my spine.
Then she said, "Your posture is not good. Let me show you how to improve it."
She started massaging my back and taught me some exercises to improve my posture.
I thanked her and left.
I was working out in the gym when I saw one of my friends, Sarah Mitchell, walking towards me.
She had a smile on her face and said, "Hi Emily, how are you?"
I smiled back and said, "I'm good, thanks. How about you?"
She replied, "I'm good too. What are you doing?"
I replied, "Just working out. How about you?"
She said, "Same here. Let's stop for a bit and have some water."
We both sat down on the benches and drank some water.
Then she said to me, "Emily, when are you due?"
I smiled and said, "In three months. I'm expecting my first child."
She looked at me and said, "Congratulations! You're going to be a great mom."
I thanked her and we both got up and continued our workouts.
After an hour of working out, I was tired and decided to head home.
The evening crowd had thinned out and only a few people were scattered across the equipment.
I gathered my gym bag and water bottle and headed for the glass doors leading outside.
As I was approaching the doors, I heard Amy's voice behind me.
"Emily!"
I turned around and saw Amy standing there with her clipboard in hand.
She planted herself between me and the exit, her pen tapping against the board in a rhythmic motion.
Sarah was still nearby, taking a drink from the water fountain.
Amy glanced at Sarah, then back at me, her voice low and urgent.
"Emily, there's something you need to know about the gym's owner."
I frowned, curiosity piqued. "What is it?"
Amy blocked my path to the exit, her clipboard held firmly in front of her.
"It's time for your weekly weigh-in."
My stomach twisted with unease.
I remembered the last time she'd done this, and how humiliating it had been.
I glanced over at Sarah, who was watching us from by the water fountain, a concerned look on her face.
Amy tapped her pen against the clipboard again, her eyes fixed intently on me.
"You know the gym owner insists on tracking our clients' progress closely. And for pregnant women like you, it's especially important. So I'm afraid we can't let you leave without a weigh-in."
I felt a surge of frustration and protectively placed my hands over my baby bump.
"No more weigh-ins," I said firmly, pulling my arm free from Amy's grasp.
