I was bored at home and I decided to play a prank on my wife.
I contacted two stylists, Mark and Sarah, to help me with the prank.
I would disguise myself into a beautiful young woman.
When they came, they were surprised to see me, but they were also willing to help.
After Mark and I had a discussion, we decided that I would take on the looks of a housewife whose husband is abroad.
Sarah started applying makeup on me while Mark curled my hair.
It wasn't going to be easy disguising a man as a woman.
But Sarah and Mark were very skilled.
They were also paid a huge amount for the prank, so they were willing to do it.
After two hours of disguising, I was finally done.
I looked into the mirror and I couldn't believe my eyes.
I was now a stunning young woman, much more beautiful than my wife.
I was tempted to go home with my wife without her knowing it was me.
But I didn't want to play with fire.
Sarah and Mark also gave me a warning that I would not be able to remove the disguise for a week.
So I packed my bags and went to the real estate agent to rent the neighbouring apartment to my house.
I was now Mrs. Jason Hart, a housewife with my husband abroad.
As soon as I walked into the apartment complex, my wife rushed out of our apartment and smiled brightly at me.
"Hi, I'm Emily. Welcome to the apartment complex," she said.
I smiled back at her.
"I'm Mrs. Jason Hart. It's nice to meet you."
She looked at me with interest.
"Where is your husband?"
"My husband is abroad. He works in a foreign company," I replied.
She nodded and smiled.
"It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Hart. Would you like to come in for some tea?"
I nodded and followed her into our apartment.
She sat me down in the living room and went into the kitchen to prepare some tea.
I looked around the living room and saw that it was still as I had left it this morning.
She came back with two cups of tea and sat down opposite me.
"So, Mrs. Hart, how long will you be staying here?" she asked.
"I will be staying here for a week," I replied.
She nodded and took a sip of her tea.
"So, what do you do?" she asked me.
"I'm a housewife," I replied.
She smiled at me warmly.
"That's nice. I'm also a housewife. My husband works in a bank."
I smiled back at her and took a sip of my tea.
"So, Mrs. Hart, how did you meet your husband?"
I thought for a moment before answering her question.
"We met through mutual friends," I replied.
She nodded and took another sip of her tea.
"That's nice. So, how long have you been married?"
"We've been married for five years now," I replied. She smiled at me warmly.
"That's great. We've been married for three years now. It's not easy being married to someone who is always away from home."
I nodded in agreement with her.
"No, it's not easy at all."
She sighed and took another sip of her tea.
"My husband is always busy with his work. He barely has time for me."
I nodded sympathetically at her.
"I know how you feel, Mrs. Hart," I said with a smile.
"My husband is also very busy with his work. But he always makes time for me whenever he can."
She smiled back at me and took another sip of her tea.
"That's good to hear, Mrs. Hart. So, what do you do all day when your husband is away?"
I shrugged my shoulders and smiled at her.
"I do whatever needs to be done around the house," I replied.
She nodded in understanding and took another sip of her tea.
Emily leaned forward, her eyes suddenly serious.
"Do you ever feel like you're living someone else's life, Mrs. Hart?"
I hesitated, caught off guard by the question.
She nodded, her eyes understanding.
"Yes, I know what you mean. Sometimes I wonder if Jason even notices the little things anymore."
She glanced over at the mantel, where a family photo sat.
I followed her gaze, my heart sinking.
The photo of us smiling and happy seemed to mock me now, sitting here in my disguise.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, adjusting the hem of my dress.
Emily's phone buzzed on the table next to her, breaking the silence.
She sighed and picked it up, glancing at the screen.
"It's him," she said softly.
She answered with a smile in her voice.
As she spoke to me, I realized the prank had become more than just a game.
She placed the phone down, her eyes lingering on mine.
"You know," she said, her voice barely above a whisper, "sometimes I wonder if he still sees me."
Her hand reached across the table, brushing against mine.
The touch sent a shiver through me, unexpected and electric.
I fought the urge to pull away, letting the moment stretch between us.
Her gaze held a mix of hope and uncertainty that made my heart ache.
As she slowly withdrew her hand, I knew this prank had become something more than just a game.
I stood up abruptly, needing a moment to collect myself.
"I'm sorry, Emily. I need to go."
She nodded, understanding in her eyes.
"Of course. It was nice meeting you."
I hesitated at the door, her hopeful eyes still lingering in my mind.
Turning back to her, I asked, "Emily, do you think Jason is hiding something from us?"
Her brow furrowed, and she looked down, fiddling with her wedding ring.
"Sometimes," she admitted softly, "I feel like there's a part of him I don't know."
I sat back down, leaning closer to her.
"What if he's just trying to surprise you?"
I suggested gently.
She smiled wistfully, a flicker of hope in her eyes.
The conversation continued, but the tension lingered.
I leaned in closer, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Let's find out together, Emily."
Her eyes widened, a mix of curiosity and excitement.
I smiled, feeling a sense of purpose.
"Let's plan a surprise for when he comes back. Something to make him see you again."
She nodded eagerly, her smile returning.
The rest of the afternoon was spent brainstorming ideas, from romantic dinners to weekend getaways.
As we talked, I noticed the genuine smile on her face, the spark returning to her eyes.
The irony wasn't lost on me - I was planning a surprise for my own return.
But for now, I pushed that thought aside and focused on helping Emily.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the room, I stood up to leave.
Emily walked me to the door, her eyes shining with renewed hope.
"Thank you," she said softly.
"I'll help with the arrangements," I promised.
She smiled, her face lighting up with gratitude.
