I never thought I’d be the guy to get a hard-on from a firm handshake, but here I am, and it’s all I can do not to shift in my seat as our server delivers the drinks to our table.
A guys’ weekend away at a cabin in the middle of nowhere is just what I need.
I’ve been stressing about work—tax season is always a nightmare for an accountant like myself—and I need some time with my friends to remember what’s important in life.
Things like hunting, drinking beer, and watching football.
Traditional masculine activities and stuff that society says are acceptable for men.
But what society doesn’t know is that when I’m alone with my guys, I like to cuddle, hold hands, and even get a little physical affection from them now and then.
It’s not something we talk about or acknowledge outside our little group, and definitely not something any of us would admit to being okay with if someone else found out.
I think we all like it a little too much, and we’re scared of what it might mean or lead to if we let it show.
We keep each other’s secrets safe.
Caleb is the most vocal about certain things.
"Here’s to the hunt," he says as he raises his bottle of beer to toast.
"We’re going to bring down something big this time."
The One
The restaurant is dimly lit, with shadows dancing across the walls of our corner booth.
Caleb’s fingers brush against mine as we clink our bottles together, and a jolt of electricity runs up my arm.
I’m not sure if it’s the alcohol or the touch, but I shiver as I pull my hand away.
He smiles at me, his eyes crinkling at the corners, and I notice that he lingers a little longer than necessary before letting go.
Finn, sitting across from us, watches with a knowing smile.
"So, what’s the plan?" he asks, taking a swig of his beer.
"We’ll head out early tomorrow," Caleb says.
"We’ve got our gear ready, and we know where to find the best spots."
I nod in agreement.
"We’ve been planning this trip for months. We’re going to get something big this time."
The One
The conversation turns to hunting strategies and favorite memories from past trips.
I try to focus on the topic at hand, but I can’t help sneaking glances at Caleb whenever I think he’s not looking.
He’s always been the most physically affectionate of our group, and I find myself wondering if he’ll find an excuse to touch me again.
It doesn’t take long for him to make his move. "Hey, Finn," he says, leaning over me to reach for the menu on the other side of the booth.
"Have you seen this place’s specials?"
Finn looks up from his phone.
"Yeah, they have some great burgers. You should try one."
Caleb nods and pulls back into his own space, but not before brushing his arm against mine again.
This time, I don’t pull away as quickly.
I let myself savor the warmth of his skin against mine for just a moment before shifting in my seat to face him fully.
"So, what do you think?" he asks, his eyes locked on mine.
"Should we get burgers or try something else?"
I swallow hard and force myself to focus on the conversation.
"Uh, yeah. Burgers sound good."
As we order our food and continue talking about hunting plans, Caleb finds every excuse to touch me again.
The One
He pats my shoulder while laughing at one of Finn’s jokes, then leans over to whisper something in my ear when our server comes by to refill our drinks. It’s subtle enough that Finn probably doesn’t notice anything out of the ordinary, but I feel like I’m going crazy from all the little touches and brushes against me.
The unspoken tension between us hangs heavy in the air, and I realize that this trip might change everything.
After dinner, we pile into my truck for the drive to the cabin.
I grip the steering wheel tightly, acutely aware of Caleb choosing to sit directly behind me instead of in the passenger seat next to Finn.
His knees press against the back of my seat, and I can feel his presence like a weight on my shoulders.
The radio plays softly in the background, a country station that Finn always insists on listening to.
As we hit a red light, I catch myself glancing in the rearview mirror, and that’s when I see Caleb staring at me.
He doesn’t look away or pretend he wasn’t watching.
Instead, he leans forward, his breath warm against my neck as he speaks.
"You might want to turn up the heat," he says.
"It’s getting cold out there."
His hand rests briefly on my shoulder before sliding back into his own space.

The One
My skin burns where he touched me, and I struggle to keep my focus on the road ahead. The rest of the drive passes in charged silence, with only occasional comments from Finn about the scenery outside or Caleb’s occasional shift in his seat behind me.
I keep my eyes fixed on the road ahead, but I can feel Caleb’s gaze on me even when I don’t look back.
The cabin looms ahead, a shadowy silhouette against the darkening sky, and I know that once we step inside, nothing will be the same.
