I was born a human empath, then I was turned into a vampire by my aunt Talia.
When I was turned, my empathic power grew stronger and became more of a hunger.
I don't know how to describe it, but it feels like I am thirsty for emotions.
I shut off my human emotions, well not all of them but most of them.
I don't understand adult emotions or actions or anything.
Right now, I am still in the state mind of a baby or a toddler.
Not by choice but because I lost my humanity for the most part.
Some things I do understand but most things, I don't.
I feel pain, remorse but not remorse.
Remorse is feeling guilty for something you did wrong, but since I don't remember doing anything wrong, I don't feel remorse.
I feel remorse when someone does something to hurt me or someone I care about which causes me pain.
Remorse is when you feel bad for hurting someone or someone gets hurt because of you.
I don't feel guilty for something I did or didn't do that caused someone pain because if I didn't mean to then it's not remorse.
Remorse is when you hurt someone on purpose or on accident that causes you to feel bad for what you did.
I understand pain and remorse but not remorse.
I don't know if that makes any sense at all.
When I was turned into a vampire, all newborns have is the desire for blood and to sleep a lot.
The Newborn Vampire
My eyes are a ruby red color, not because of the blood I drink but because my aunt Talia turned me.
I have refined delicate black eyebrows and black hair.
My skin is very pale and hard as rock.
I have an almond-shaped face with a pointed nose and chin.
I'm still learning what other vampires look like since I have only seen one other vampire besides my aunt Talia.
I wander through the dense forest, my feet moving silently over fallen leaves.
The scent of deer is strong, but it's not what draws me in.
There's another smell, something different, something that makes me feel curious.
I follow the scent to a clearing and find seven pale figures standing there, frozen in place like statues.
A bronze-haired male turns first, his golden eyes meeting mine.
The Newborn Vampire
Then I feel it, pressure in my head that makes me feel like running away.
I stand frozen, watching as he approaches me cautiously.
He extends his hand, palm up, like offering food to a stray cat.
His skin is a different scent than human blood, but still sweet and enticing.
I can feel the pressure in my head building as he gets closer.
The rustling of leaves and snapping of twigs fills the air as the others in the clearing move, but I don't dare look away from the bronze-haired vampire.
The Newborn Vampire
I see out of the corner of my eye a blonde female tensing up behind him, but I don't move.
I take a small step forward, my bare feet crushing the pine needles beneath me.
Then I catch a new scent, one that's warm and sweet and alive.
It comes from behind the bronze-haired vampire, and my throat burns instantly.
I flick my gaze to the side, and that's when I see her.
She's a human girl with dark hair, partially hidden behind the others.
Her brown eyes are wide as she peers at me.
I can feel her fear through my empathic power, but it's mixed with curiosity.
The feeling of her emotions is so strong that my muscles coil, ready to spring into action.
The bronze-haired vampire shifts his stance slightly, blocking my view of the girl.
His hand is still extended, but his fingers have tensed into a fist.
