When a hot Nerd falls in love with the head cheerleader.
That's me!
The head cheerleader that fell in love with the most eligible nerd in our school, Austin Thompson.
Me and Austin didn't start well, but I don't care about that.
All that matters is we are in love with each other, and nothing is gonna change that.
But the question is: how long will our love last?
Will it last for good?
Or will it spoil after some time?
Well, you'll get all your answers in this story 'cause it's just a series with 3 episodes.
So, I guess I should tell you what happened first before writing this story.
It all started when I was talking to my best friend since childhood, Emily Carter, about my crush.
I didn't know who my crush was at that time, but I knew I had a crush on someone.
I just didn't know who that someone was.
I was so sure of having a crush that I was impatient to find out who that person was.
I wanted to find out who made my heart beat fast whenever I saw him.
I wanted to know who made me feel like I was in a lovely paradise whenever he was with me.
I wanted to know who that person was that always gave me a sweet and lovely feeling.
The Nerd King
It all started after the cheer practice.
I was leaning against my locker, still wearing my uniform, while Emily reapplied her lip gloss.
I told her how I had been feeling for a while.
How my heart beats fast whenever I see someone in school.
How I always feel nervous whenever I see him in class.
How my heart skips a beat when he passes by me in the hallway.
Emily narrowed her eyes as she thought of something.
She was thinking about who that person could be.
"Jessica, we have to find out who that person is. I know it's not the football captain 'cause you don't like him. It's not the basketball star 'cause he's not your type. It's not the class president 'cause you're not interested in him," Emily said, listing some boys from our social circle.
I nodded my head as I agreed with her.
The Nerd King
We were walking toward the parking lot when we saw Austin pass by us with his physics textbook in his hand.
My heart skipped a beat, and I stumbled mid-step.
I watched him disappear around the corner, my cheeks burning.
Emily studied my reaction.
She narrowed her eyes as she thought of something.
She looked at me, and her eyes widened as she noticed my flustered state.
She raised an eyebrow as she connected the dots in her head.
"Jessica, is it... Austin?"
Emily asked, surprised.
I nodded my head slowly, still trying to catch my breath.
"Yeah," I said, adjusting my gym bag on my shoulder.
"I'm just... I'm just tired from practice. That's why," I said, trying to play it cool.
The Nerd King
Emily nodded her head as she smiled knowingly.
"Sure, Jess. Whatever you say," Emily said, smiling sweetly at me.
"Well, we should go to our cars. I'll see you tomorrow," Emily said, walking away from me.
I watched her walk toward her car before I turned around and walked toward mine.
"Hey, Jess!"
Emily called out to me from behind.
I turned around and saw her leaning against her car door with a smile on her face.
"You know that Austin is the best student in school right now? He got the highest score in the physics test. He's also one of the smartest guys in school. He's a lot of girls' crushes," Emily said casually while looking at me with a calculating look in her eyes. I swallowed hard as I gripped my car keys tighter in my hand.
I didn't know why but hearing about Austin's crushes made me feel uncomfortable and nauseous.
"Yeah... I know," I said slowly, not knowing what else to say.
"Okay then... See you tomorrow," Emily said again before getting into her car and driving away.
I stood there for a while before getting into my car and driving home.
As soon as I got into my car, Emily pulled up beside me and rolled down her window.
"Jess, you know you can't hide it forever, right?" she said with a teasing grin.
I sighed, glancing at her.
The Nerd King
"Yeah, I know, but what if he doesn't feel the same way?"
"I'll find out for you," Emily said, her grin growing wider.
"But you have to promise me one thing. You can't tell him that I'm the one who told you."
"Okay," I said slowly, wondering what Emily's plan was.
I stood there by my locker for a few minutes after school ended, waiting for Emily to get her things.
She finally came out of the classroom with her books in hand.
"Okay, Jess. So, here's the plan. Austin is going to be in the library during lunch tomorrow. He always studies there with his friends during lunch," Emily said, leaning against my locker with a casual expression on her face.
"So, what do I do?"
I asked curiously.
"You're going to wait till he comes into the library and sits down at his usual table. Then, you'll go talk to him like you normally would," Emily said casually as she checked her nails. "And then?"
I asked curiously.
The Nerd King
"And then, you'll bring up the science fair. You know how he loves science. You'll tell him how excited you are about the science fair this year. Then, you'll tell him how it's really hard for you and your friends to think of something to do for the fair," Emily explained.
"What does this have to do with anything?"
I asked confused.
"I'm getting there, Jess," Emily said patiently as she adjusted her bag on her shoulder.
"Okay then... So, when you mention that it's hard for you and your friends to think of something to do for the science fair... He's going to suggest something for you," Emily explained.
"How do you know that?"
I asked surprised.
"Because I know him," Emily said confidently.
"So... After he suggests something... You're going to thank him and tell him that he's really smart and stuff like that. Then, you're going to say that you want to talk more about it but it's almost lunch time so maybe they could meet up later? Maybe after school?" she asked me, looking at me expectantly.
"And then?"
I asked again impatiently.
"And then... You'll ask him if he would like to help you guys with your project," Emily explained slowly as if talking to a five-year-old.
"And then?"
I asked again impatiently. "And then... We'll see what he says," Emily said simply.
"Emily, are you sure this is going to work?" I asked, feeling a mix of excitement and dread.
The Nerd King
"Trust me, Jess, it's foolproof," Emily replied with a wink.
"But what if he thinks I'm just using him for his brains?" I worried aloud.
"Then he's an idiot," Emily said bluntly.
I sighed, knowing that Emily was right.
I was just going to have to trust her and hope for the best.
I walked down the empty hallway toward the library, rehearsing the conversation in my head that Emily had suggested.
My cheerleading uniform felt tight and uncomfortable against my skin, and my hands kept fidgeting with the straps of my backpack.
The Nerd King
The library doors were just ahead of me when a loud, piercing sound cut through the silence of the hallway.
The fire alarm's sharp ring made me jump as I covered my ears.
Suddenly, students burst out of nearby classrooms, pushing past me in a rush to get out of the building.
I tried to move out of the way, but I got knocked against the lockers as the crowd surged forward. Through the sea of rushing bodies, I caught a glimpse of Austin exiting the library, his backpack slung over his shoulder.
I pushed off from the lockers and started to weave my way through the crowd, trying to keep my eyes on Austin's retreating form.
"Austin! Wait!"
I called out, but my voice was swallowed up by the blaring alarm and the shouting of the other students.
Just as I thought he hadn't heard me, Austin paused near the emergency exit, turning his head slightly over his shoulder.
I dodged past two freshmen and stumbled forward, my cheerleading skirt swishing around my legs.
I reached him just as he was about to go out the door, a teacher suddenly appearing behind us.
"Everyone outside! Now!" the teacher yelled, waving her arms at us.
Austin held the door open for a few girls to pass through, and then he stepped outside as well.
I followed right behind him, ending up in the doorway next to him.
Our shoulders were almost touching as we stood there waiting for the rest of the students to get out of the school building. I looked over at him, rehearsing my speech in my head again.

But before I could say anything, Austin turned his head and looked directly at me with curious brown eyes.
My mind went blank as I stared back at him, forgetting what I was going to say.
Before I could gather myself, a teacher appeared behind me and gave me a gentle push forward.
"Come on you two. Everyone needs to be out of the building," she said firmly.
I stepped out into the crowd of students who were all talking and laughing, waiting for the fire department to arrive.
Austin followed me, his eyes darting back to me a few times as he pretended to read his physics textbook.
After a few minutes, Austin started to make his way through the crowd of students, edging closer and closer to where I was standing.
He finally reached me and stood there with his head bent over his book, pretending to read.
But then, he shifted his body slightly and leaned in so that his mouth was next to my ear.
"Meet me at the oak tree," he whispered, his warm breath sending shivers down my spine.
Then he straightened back up and walked away from me, disappearing into the crowd of restless students.
I stood there in shock, wondering what had just happened.
Before I could even process what Austin had said, Principal Stevens appeared on the steps of the school building with a megaphone in hand.
"Everyone! This is Principal Stevens. It appears that this was a false alarm. We are currently investigating who pulled the fire alarm, but it looks like it was a prank," she said loudly over the megaphone. "We will have you all go back inside in an orderly fashion. Please follow your teachers' instructions," she said firmly over the megaphone before turning and going back into the school building.
The Nerd King
The crowd of students started to file back into the school building, complaining and groaning about how stupid it was for someone to pull a prank like this during school hours.
As I turned to go back inside, I felt someone brush past me from behind.
I turned my head and saw Austin walking quickly through the crowd of students going back inside.
He had brushed past me on purpose because I could see that he had shoved a folded piece of paper into my hand as he passed by.
I looked down at my hand and saw that it was a folded up piece of paper with some scribbled numbers on it.
The Nerd King
I unfolded it quickly and saw that it was a time scrawled across the page in messy handwriting: 3:15
I glanced up, catching Austin's eye from across the crowd.
"Meet me at the oak tree at 3:15," he mouthed silently, his expression serious.
"Okay," I mouthed back, nodding slightly, my heart racing with anticipation and a hint of fear.
I clutched the note in my sweaty palm as I followed the crowd of students back inside the school building, weaving through groups of students who were still talking and laughing about the false alarm.
I kept a safe distance from Austin, watching him go back into the library without looking at me.
I knew that I had to follow him at 3:15, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right.
Austin took an unexpected turn away from the oak tree, heading instead toward the abandoned tennis courts behind the gym.
I slowed down, not wanting to get too close to him as he made his way through the empty parking lot.
My cheerleading shoes squeaked against the pavement as I ducked behind a dumpster near the gym, watching Austin check over his shoulder before slipping through a gap in the chain-link fence.
This wasn't where we were supposed to meet.
Why was he changing the spot?
I hesitated, then whispered to myself, "What are you up to, Austin?"
Just then, Emily's voice crackled through my earpiece, "Did he change the plan? This doesn't feel right."
The Nerd King
I replied softly, "Yeah, he's heading toward the tennis courts. Should I follow him?"
I ducked behind the rusty dumpster, peeking around it to see Austin disappear through the gap in the fence.
I pulled out my earpiece and stuffed it into my uniform pocket, not wanting to hear Emily's constant questions.
The gravel parking lot crunched beneath my sneakers as I crept toward the gap in the fence, looking around nervously to make sure no one was watching.
I peered through the warped metal links of the fence and saw Austin pacing back and forth near the cracked tennis courts, checking his phone every few seconds.
I gripped the cold fence tightly as I squeezed through the gap in the fence, careful not to snag my uniform on any of the jagged metal wires.
The Nerd King
A twig snapped beneath my foot as I stepped into the overgrown weeds behind the gym.
I made my way across the broken asphalt of the abandoned tennis courts, my shoes crunching on the gravel and broken glass that littered the surface.
Austin suddenly stopped pacing and whirled around at the sound of my footsteps, his face a mix of relief and worry.
He glanced down at his phone in his hand again, then shoved it into his pocket, his eyes darting back to me.
"Jessica, I needed to warn you somewhere private," he said quickly, starting to walk toward me.
"Emily's been spreading rumors about us. She told the whole science club that I'm just using you to win the popularity contest for class president."
The Nerd King
I leaned against the rusty fence, my mind racing as I tried to process what Austin was saying.
Austin paced back and forth in front of me, running his fingers through his dark hair.
He pulled out his phone and showed me screenshots of text messages from the science club group chat.
Emily had been telling everyone that I was just another shallow cheerleader trying to manipulate Austin for popularity points.
I felt my stomach twist into knots as I read message after message, seeing my supposed best friend paint me as a scheming social climber.
When Austin's hand brushed mine against the fence, I gripped it tightly, needing something solid to hold onto.
The Nerd King
"Jessica, I'm so sorry. I should have warned you sooner," he said, his eyes filled with regret.
"But I wanted to make sure I had proof before I said anything."
I leaned against the fence, still holding onto Austin's hand as I tried to think of a way to handle this situation.
I could already imagine Emily's smug face and her fake innocence as she denied everything.
She'd probably just say she was trying to protect me from Austin's nerdiness.
I could feel my anger rising, but I knew I had to stay calm if I wanted to deal with Emily effectively.
"We should go talk to her," I said, pulling away from the fence and starting toward the gap in the fence.
Austin hurried after me, catching my hand again.
"Jessica, maybe we should wait until tomorrow. She'll be at cheer practice right now," he suggested.
I shook my head firmly.
The Nerd King
"No, she'll just deny it all and try to turn everyone against me."
I pulled out my phone and checked the time, seeing that it was 3:30 PM.
Cheer practice would be over soon if they were following our usual schedule.
My fingers trembled slightly as I pulled up Emily's contact information on my phone. Austin squeezed my hand reassuringly as he watched me type out a message demanding she meet us at the bleachers in ten minutes.
When I hit send, he let go of my hand and followed me through the gap in the fence.
We crossed the empty field together, our joined hands swinging between us.
The chain-link fence rattled slightly as we walked along its length toward the practice area.
"Jessica, are you sure this is the right move?" Austin asked, his voice tinged with concern.
"I have to confront her, Austin. If I don't, she'll just keep spreading lies," I replied, determination hardening my voice.
He nodded slowly, understanding the resolve in my eyes.
The Nerd King
We approached the bleachers, our footsteps heavy on the track field.
Emily stood at the top row, her cheerleading uniform looking crisp and clean in the afternoon sun.
Her smirk widened as she saw our joined hands.
Austin squeezed my palm reassuringly as we climbed the metal steps.
The screenshots weighed like lead in my phone pocket.
The Nerd King
When we reached the middle row, Emily's voice cut through the air.
"Well, if it isn't the happy couple."
I released Austin's hand and pulled out my phone, my fingers trembling slightly as I opened the science club chat.
I climbed the last few steps, holding my phone screen forward for Emily to see.
Her smirk faltered slightly as she realized the screenshots were from the science club chat.
The metal bleachers creaked beneath our feet as Austin stood beside me, his presence giving me strength.
Emily's eyes darted between us, then fixed on my phone with growing tension.
When she reached out to snatch the device from my hand, I pulled it back sharply, causing her to stumble forward.
The Nerd King
"Emily, why would you do this?" I demanded, my voice steady despite the turmoil inside.
She straightened up, her eyes narrowing as she crossed her arms defiantly.
"Because you needed a reality check, Jessica," she replied coolly, "and I won't apologize for showing everyone who you really are."
I stood on the bleachers, facing Emily, who had once been my best friend.
Austin's presence beside me was steady, his eyes locked on the girl who had betrayed us.
The metal steps were cold beneath my feet as I forced myself to remain composed.
Emily's cheerleading uniform was a cruel reminder of our shared past, identical to mine in every way.
My phone felt heavy in my hand, the screen still displaying the vicious messages she had sent.
The Nerd King
But it was Austin's supportive glance that gave me the strength to ask the question burning within me.
"Why did you think tearing us apart would make you feel whole?"
Emily's confident facade cracked for a moment, her weight shifting on the metal bleacher as she shifted her gaze between Austin and me.
The late afternoon sun cast harsh shadows across her face, highlighting the slight tremor in her hands as she gripped the railing.
When she finally spoke, her voice was smaller than before, lacking its usual sharp edge.
She opened her mouth, closed it, then took a step backward up the bleachers.
The metal creaked beneath her feet as she retreated, but I moved forward, phone still extended with the damning screenshots.
The Nerd King
Austin followed behind me, his footsteps echoing on the metal stairs.
Emily's eyes darted between us, searching for an escape route.
But I was determined to confront her, to understand the motivations behind her betrayal.
When she finally stopped, her back against the top railing of the bleachers, I thrust my phone forward again.
This time, she slapped it from my hand, the device clattering down the bleachers as it fell.
The Nerd King
I didn't chase after it; instead, I planted my feet firmly and crossed my arms, blocking Emily's path.
"You were supposed to be my best friend," I said, my voice steady despite the turmoil inside.
Emily's eyes met mine, and for a fleeting moment, I saw the regret she couldn't bring herself to voice.
Austin descended the bleacher steps, his eyes fixed on my phone, which had landed face-up on the concrete below.
Emily shifted nervously behind me, her breathing quickening as he bent down to examine the cracked screen.
When he picked it up, a notification banner slid across the display - a message from someone named "Partner" to Emily.
Austin's eyes widened as he read it.
He turned the screen toward me, revealing Emily's text conversation: "Plan failed. J+A still together. Need new strategy."
The Nerd King
Emily's facade shattered completely, leaving only the raw truth between us.
I leaned against the bleachers, watching Austin's fingers move swiftly across the cracked display.
He examined the damage, trying to determine if it was still functional.
As he scrolled through the phone's contents, his brow furrowed in concentration.
Suddenly, he froze, his gaze fixed on something on the screen.
His expression shifted from concern to confusion.
"What is it?"
I asked, peering over his shoulder.
"There's a hidden folder here," he said quietly, angling the screen toward me.
The document title read "Operation Best Friend Forever."
My eyes widened as I took in the contents.
The Nerd King
Emily had outlined a detailed plan to repair our friendship - a plan that included public apologies and shared memories from our childhood.
I leaned against the cold metal bleachers, watching as Emily's mascara ran down her cheeks.
She took small steps toward me, her cheerleading uniform swaying in the afternoon breeze.
Austin stood protectively at my side, still holding my cracked phone with the evidence of her planned apology.
His voice cracked as he explained how jealousy had consumed her when I started falling for him.
She described lonely nights spent writing in that "Operation Best Friend Forever" folder, trying to find words to fix what she broke.
The Nerd King
Her hands trembled as she reached for mine, begging me to remember our childhood promises.
