Initially wary after Lou Shiqian's unexpected display of power, Chang becomes an ally through mutual respect and admiration. His presence reflects the societal hierarchy based on professional background, yet his interactions demonstrate personal vulnerabilities as he navigates his position within this structure.
Shou Pingwei
side_character, male. He is a martial artist from the Metal profession in this new world. He is bold, proud, and hottempered. Shou becomes an acquaintance after encountering Lou at the Metal Emperor's palace. His initial hostility stems from competition but evolves into camaraderie as he acknowledges Lou's superior skills. His brash demeanor contrasts with more reserved personalities but contributes to the dynamic social landscape based on professions.
I still remember the day I came to this world.
I had just met Chang Shisong and Shou Pingwei, two people from the Metal profession.
After experiencing their martial arts, I realized that this was a world where martial arts were highly valued.
At that time, I didn't know how I had come to this world, but I was determined to find a way back.
I didn't want to give up my life in my original world.
I wanted to go back to Huaxia and continue practicing martial arts.
I didn't want to lose my chance to become the number one martial artist in the world.
However, it wasn't until I met Mu En Zhe that I began to understand the situation.
She was from the Water profession and told me that there were five major professions in this world: Metal, Wood, Earth, Fire, and Water.
Each profession had its own sequence of levels: Initial, Middle, High, Deep, and Heart.
For example, Metal had Copper, Iron, Heart Steel, Pulse Crystal, and Metal Emperor.
Wood had New Tendril, Ink Branch, Heart Sprout, Clan Fruit, and Wood Emperor.
Fire had Kindling Fire, Scarlet Flame, Heart Burn, Ash Transformation, and Flame Emperor.
Earth had… and so on.
In addition to these five professions, there were also techniques that could be practiced in conjunction with them.
Each technique had its own name and sequence of levels: New Tendril ➔ Ink Branch ➔ Heart Sprout ➔ Clan Fruit ➔ Wood Emperor
I approach Moon Zhe in her private meditation chamber.
The room is dimly lit, with only a few candles illuminating the space.
The walls are made of stone, and the floor is covered with a thin layer of water.
In the center of the room, there is a large pool of water that seems to be floating in mid-air.
Moon Zhe is sitting cross-legged on the floor, her eyes closed as she meditates.
As I approach her, I notice that there are small water droplets floating in the air around her.
Each droplet is perfectly spherical and seems to be suspended in place by some unseen force.
I kneel down on the damp floor and wait for her to open her eyes.
After a few moments, she slowly opens them and looks at me.
Her gaze is piercing, as if she can see right through me.
I feel a shiver run down my spine as she regards me for a moment before speaking.
"What do you want?"
"I want to learn how to manipulate water," I reply, trying to keep my voice steady.
Moon Zhe's expression changes from one of serenity to one of surprise.
She rises to her feet and gestures for me to stand as well. "Follow me," she says, walking towards the pool of water in the center of the room.
I follow her and watch as she stands at the edge of the pool.
She raises one hand and places it on the surface of the water.
As she does so, I notice that the small droplets of water floating in the air around us begin to move towards her hand.
They gather on her palm and form a small sphere of water that seems to be suspended in place by some unseen force.
"This is the first stance," Moon Zhe says, looking at me over her shoulder.
"You must focus your energy on the water and use it to control its movements."
She demonstrates several more stances, each one more complex than the last.
Standing in front of her, I mirror her movements exactly.
My arms flow like gentle streams, my hands moving through the air with grace and precision.
The room is filled with the scent of damp earth and the sound of water trickling over rocks.
I can feel the moisture in the air, thick and heavy like a fog.
As I move, I focus all of my attention on gathering the water particles that surround me.
I can feel them responding to my energy, drawn to me like tiny magnets.
My muscles strain from maintaining the unfamiliar stance - left foot forward, right arm curved upward, fingers spread delicately.
Moon Zhe circles around me, adjusting my posture with light touches.
"Feel the water's essence," she instructs.
"Let it respond to your will."
Hours pass as I repeat the motions, sweat dripping down my back and soaking into the fabric of my clothing.
As I continue practicing, a memory surfaces from my studies in Huaxia.
I pause mid-movement, my arms still raised and my body tense with concentration.
Moon Zhe notices my sudden stillness and approaches me.
"What is it?" she asks, her voice soft but curious.
I lower my arms and turn to face her.
"I think I remember something from my studies," I explain.
"The ancient texts described water as a subtle and powerful element. It's not just about control, but about emulating its nature."
Moon Zhe's expression changes from curiosity to skepticism.
"How do you plan to do that?"
I take a deep breath and close my eyes.
As I exhale, I relax my rigid posture and imagine myself as a gentle stream flowing through the forest.
The water particles around me respond differently now, clustering closer together instead of simply following my movements. Moon Zhe watches intently as I demonstrate this new approach.
Her eyes widen slightly as she sees the water flowing more naturally than before.
"It's working," she says softly.
"You're connecting with the water on a deeper level."
I open my eyes and smile at her.
"Thank you for your guidance," I reply.
"I couldn't have done it without your help."
Moon Zhe nods graciously and gestures for me to continue practicing.
As I resume the stance, I feel a sense of accomplishment wash over me.
